It is a flu virus everyone gets a flu, but this flu virus your body doesn't know it, it will react according to how the virus affects your immune system. Some people's immune is strong to have mild effects while others will over react and cause more pain and suffering because of the reaction. Hence the pneumonia isn't from the virus, it's your body trying hard to clear it out and fails.
