No the tunnel was designed with the bridge in plan. All the truck and industrial traffic takes the bridge while cars and small trucks take the tunnel which is height restricted. Essentially the bridge is part of the direct shipping link of i95. It’s the same as missing a chunk of 95 but specifically for freight. They lose economic output with the bridge out of commission

Getting an insurance company to pay for something of this magnitude can take a long time and I imagine a lot of lawsuits in every direction. What I took from what he said was the federal gov will pay the cost up front to get construction process moving while they investigate who is at fault. After all of that I'm sure there will be costs for whoever is at fault. Comparing this incident to a car accident isn't the most accurate, a better comparison would be a plane crash destroying a runway. The government would rebuild the runway immediately and file lawsuits against the airline/insurance company involved.
The local government are responsible for commerce on the waterway, they should have realized that bridge support was fragile and should have protected it by substantial pilings and tugs for such an emergency. If they were holding their breath waiting for the Fed to protect that fragile bridge, this is the result.
Have you ever been up close to a cargo ship to see the size, much less the weight added by a full load? I doubt any bridge abutment/piling could withstand such a blow. It lost power and drifted off course out of control. Things happen. It's in the path of a major port for incoming and outgoing goods, so yes the issue needs to be tackled ASAP. Litigation can take yrs. A clearing if debris and rebuild will take long enough on its own.
Singapore should pay. No more visas until their govt sends an advance on the bridge. They can settle with the owner/insurance in their own courts. American tax payers are tired of being hosed down.
Ok let's wait years for it to be investigated, settled in court, payments made and then we can start. Use your brain. You use federal money to get it started immediately and deal with repayment later and or simultaneously.
They will reimburse after it's rebuilt. That's how it works. The economic losses resulting from the loss of the bridge will be part of the settlement, so it's in the best interests of everyone to rebuild it asap. This is how government is supposed to work.

No the tunnel was designed with the bridge in plan. All the truck and industrial traffic takes the bridge while cars and small trucks take the tunnel which is height restricted. Essentially the bridge is part of the direct shipping link of i95. It’s the same as missing a chunk of 95 but specifically for freight. They lose economic output with the bridge out of commission

Getting an insurance company to pay for something of this magnitude can take a long time and I imagine a lot of lawsuits in every direction. What I took from what he said was the federal gov will pay the cost up front to get construction process moving while they investigate who is at fault. After all of that I'm sure there will be costs for whoever is at fault. Comparing this incident to a car accident isn't the most accurate, a better comparison would be a plane crash destroying a runway. The government would rebuild the runway immediately and file lawsuits against the airline/insurance company involved.

The local government are responsible for commerce on the waterway, they should have realized that bridge support was fragile and should have protected it by substantial pilings and tugs for such an emergency. If they were holding their breath waiting for the Fed to protect that fragile bridge, this is the result.
Have you ever been up close to a cargo ship to see the size, much less the weight added by a full load? I doubt any bridge abutment/piling could withstand such a blow. It lost power and drifted off course out of control. Things happen. It's in the path of a major port for incoming and outgoing goods, so yes the issue needs to be tackled ASAP. Litigation can take yrs. A clearing if debris and rebuild will take long enough on its own.
