the police training manual says a person restrained needs to be in the side recovery position and to be monitored until ems arrives. They leave it to common sense that “monitor” the subject means that if the body goes limp and not breathing during restraint, remove your knee from the neck

@@edilangsultan3522 the camera crew DID obey, infact they asked to be designated a location as to not be in anyone's way so they could do their jobs, the job they were sent there to do, a job the police were in no way shape or form alowed to hinder them in doing. they arrested him even tough he 1, presented ID, name, and that he was a raporter. 2, clearly stated he would obey the police, he didn't even try to resist the arrestation, knowing it wouldn't help him any. if he was a rioter I wouldn't give a fuck if he was arrested, as throwing rocks, ruining things and stopping traffic is not helping anyone. but as he was a raporter, I think the police should just have let him and his crew be.

This moment still blows my mind 3 years later. Omar and his team were so calm, I can't imagine how stressful that must have been. Total professionals. They were so respectful with the authorities but it didn't matter. In a way I'm glad America got to see what really happens during protests. You can be cooperating with police yet still be placed under arrest.
This is how I felt at the airport in Montreal when security check was treating me like this. I did nothing wrong but they said it was a “random check” and even threatened to strip me down in a room. Incidents like this decrease my respect for police. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 Know your rights people.

Sounds like they didn't follow a order to disperse, and as such, like all citizens refusing the order, were arrested.
The police should have issued a public apology in a press conference. The officers on scene should have given verbal orders to relocate for safety reasons instead of just using their handcuffs without any explanation. Normally, I am pro-police, but this really should have been handled better.
