As cool as cathay looks, nothing brought me more joy than seeing big bird flying free in the sky and obliterating everything in its path.

Hopefully that spell is in the game. I would love to be able able to use a high damage/cost breath spell to just delete a unit allowing cav to go though the enemy front line into their missiles.
Think Imrik's dragon collection mechanic will get patched so he can claim the dragon waifu, or is he only about riding pure flying scalies and not people who can cosplay as one?

@@TheSergio1021 I would rather say half-baked as a faction compared to Cathay. Also I noticed that Cathay units have the same proportions as Human units from previous games, but Kislev is seriously jacked up for some reason. Not to mention, that Kislevs artillery moves around on an ice carpet and is oprated by a SINGLE person (probably by sheer willpower) and the oldest empire in the new lore uses WHEELS to move artillery and carts, as well as have crews to operate it. Cathay has normal weapons inspired by Chinese culture, yet Kislev has arabian Scimitars... not gonna lie - I'm a bit worried for Kislev.

Given that there's a storm dragon and an iron dragon, I wonder if the Celestial Dragon Emperor and Moon Empress have 8 children in total: one for each wind of magic.

Cathay stuff was cool, guess having three kingdoms recently helps with chinese inspired rosters. Also happy to see tzeenech's forces. Not anything to overwrite cathay, but cool to actually see them. Hope to see Nurgle and Slanesh soon.
Ah yes, my favorite Chaos faction. Grandpap Burgle. On a more serious note, i think its fine to Love the two faction In the teaser, both looks awesome anyway. Seeing a freaking Lord of Change working in the game is just divine.

Very cool models, but as a campaign player I just want a good siege rework and Ai who does not just line up and charge. No more pulling ladders out of your ass, put siege machines on walls and remade siege maps with castle at the middle of a huge map.
That would make warhammer too fun to play. It'd be against creative assembly's and GW's vision.

So in wh we have rennaissance humans(empire), middle ages humans (bretonnia) easter european/russian humans (kislev) and chinese humans(cathay). While elves are high, dark and wood, undead are european, egyptian and zombie pirate, dwarves have just the one, until chaos dwarves arrive as a dlc! Yes, we saw the dark lands!
And the Pirates are all 17th/18th Century era with their muskets and square rigged ships.
Not really. Empire and Bretonnia are pure HRE and the French kingdom, Kislev is a Slavic culture in general. Cathay and Nipon - This is Japan and China. Lizards are May and Atsteks. And the rest is pure fantasy
This is kind of Warhammer Fantasy's schtick. Take existing real world cultures, put them in their most iconic time period and then turn up what makes them unique to eleven. Warhammer Fantasy is what you'd get if the real world was a D&D setting and a heavy metal album cover at the same time

No. Bretonnia is not merely France. It is a mix between Britain and France. It’s basically a melting pot of Britain and France. They have many British-inspired traditions such as the ‘Lady’, directly inspired by the British legend of the Lady of the Lake. Their accents and military is quite French (emphasis on lots of heavy armoured cav and knights), yet their culture, myths and legends are very Arthurian (which is British).
In fact, the nobles are French in accent whilst the peasants are British in accent. This actually represents medieval England more than France, but whatever. I guess people see French accents and immediately assume France but the clue of a British element involved is literally in the name of their faction.

The design of Those flying units is amazing
when watching this massively awesome trailer, i noticed how they had the ranged units at the front at the start and then the melee seamlessly take up the front after the ranged unit firing a volley or two. i can only hope and wish that becomes a mechanic where you can have a button that allows your unit to spread it's formation lines/columns out and allows ally units such as melee and cavalry to easily cross through each other easily like the trailer showed since currently in other total war games all units seem to have a lot of difficulty getting through each other's ally units.
it would mean that the strategy for having ranged as the front lines for starting/early battle would be much more viable, effective and helpful, especially on the defensive point of view and have the ability for cavalry or big/monster units to quickly access and charge on the front lines when the enemy is close enough for comfort. And to balance it out, doing this would make the spread unit more vulnerable by heavily reducing their charge defence since they are not as tightly packed, making it also a risky move should you leave them spread out like that. obviously if the unit is engaged in combat, this function would be disabled till they are not engaged in melee and are not morale broken.
what does everyone else think?
Alternatively, make it just a passive mechanic unique to the Cathayans, in line with their emphasis on unit synergy and combined arms.
It was done with the lords in three kingdoms and I think some of the unit in that game move around each other
@@magni5648 well if its going to be added at all it should be for every faction. It is annoying as hell how units take 30 minutes to pass through other units. It would fit many factions too such as HE, DE, WE, etc

what makes the empire great is not that it gets its shoulders padded by gw or ca every 5 minutes but that at the end of the day it pulls through,
also i think ca really overdid it a little bit at least with the ballon cannons.
@@thanquolrattenherz9665 i mean a nice little graphical touch up would be nice. You look at the empire models next to the warhammer 3 and heck even 2 and they look like they are from completely different games. I mean make them look less obvious that they were made 5 years ago at least.

@@parkla4098 Oh, fucking please. People have been asking for a fleshed out Cathay for years. And China objectively is a huge market. I don't get why everyone is so skeptical and insistent that no other Far East countries are going to ever happen. Before: "Cathay is a pipe dream." Now: "Okay, Cathay's coming, but Ind, Nippon and Khuresh are never going to happen!" Seriously, nothing is off the table anymore, and it's quite likely that Cathay's not the only part of the Far East to be fleshed out by gw. Any of those places stand a decent shot at being DLC.

My new goal for the big campaign combining all three games is to play as Imrik and ally with Cathay to create a new dragon empire together that conquers all lesser nations, so all will know that dragons reign supreme.

I'm more excited by the siege rework, but I'm also hoping that dragons won't be used cheaply in the Cathay unit roster, making them possibly a much powerful and limited unit (thus having a much bigger significance when brought to the battlefield).
There are Lord's who start campaign with Dragons. This wouldn't be much different.
Alternatively maybe Dragon Transformation will be a Level 12 ability for them in their unique skill line.
Though it doesn't make sense imo that the Dragons turning into humans would need an ability to turn back into their true form.
Tzeetch is going to have so many fliers, it's gonna be nuts!

Those 2 could definitely be DLC or FLC lords after release, and Nippon and Khuresh, at least one of them could very easily be a DLC faction.

I think its about as likely as seeing sigmar added as dlc tbh. but maybe as like a lord kroak style thing
So far all LLs outside of Constantin seem like they would make for good one man doomstacks. I like that, makes it look like CA are moving away from all the stupidly weak LLs like Tretch, Aranessa, Ghorst, Khalida, Throgg, Nakai, Lokhir, Skarsnik and Repanse. Here's to hoping the new LLs come with better campaign mechanics then aforementioned LLs aswell.
Oh and new deafeat traits is probably what I'm looking forward the most to.
Grand Cathay, Grand Smathey, I'm most excited about Tzeentch. Though CA need to fix the aesthetic of the tzeentchian chaos warriors as in the reveal screenshots they look like just blue undivided warriors which is not going to fly.

Its a minor but I really like how the Cathayan Dragons have similar facial features to Ulthuan Dragons, suggesting a shared ancestry.
Tzeentch army looks cool with that colours and effects. The whole battle in the dark sky at night is wonderful, more battle maps of this type CA, please. Cathay seems a bit less fantastical/exotic than I though it will be - no monkeys, no Terracota infatries, and stone doggos or monks. Still I would dare to say that this is the best trailer of Total War Warhammer so far.
the monks were mentioned in supplementary stuff so they are probabl ya unit, just perhaps not an infantry unit
