Yeah the 'game critics' more or less disliked it but the fans near-universally agreed that it redeemed Raiden as a character and were pleased with Sunny's cameo. Blade wolf was also somewhat popular. There was never a backlash or significant anger.

Having played the game for the first time recently, I ran into the exact same issues of I’d slice the shield, and then not see the metal poles were blue and this could be cut. Which is like to think is resonable as it’s dark blue on black in a boss fight filled with so much nonsense it was hard to see.

Funny thing is I read someone comment that before Armstrong rips his shirt off, his shirt has his own health bar (basically the entire time Raiden is throwing hands with a shirt and is still getting is ass whooped) and when you get pass that his HP increase to 200 when you go against Armstrong himself and I find hilarious

@@speedygd3415 No you don't understand. The people in the comments are not looking for skilled streamers. They are simply looking for connor to follow the tutorial.
I love connor, and was entertained mostly throughout the vod, but a good chunk of it was frustration for sure. It's mostly connor just bashing his head repeatedly into the problem that he dosent know how to solve, because he didnt read the tutorial. And when he does win, it's either by extreme cheese or pure luck.
key areas you can see this demonstrated are in the metal gear ray fight and sundowner fight, the two easiest bosses of the game. Metal gear ray's QTE is literally supposed to be impossible to miss. If you don't press it, the game will automatically press it for you. Connor's insistence of spamming raw blade mode and not using combos even though the game told him not to is what got him killed, overriding the QTE prompt with a blade mode trigger and failing the QTE. I have only ever seen connor fail at this QTE, no one else.
In sundowner's fight, connor just spams raw blade mode again even though the doc calls in to tell him that he needs to hit a specific point the break guard. He doesn't pay attention though, so it's only up to twitch chat to tell him, and even then he only sees it after a while. He also seemed unable to grasp the same mechanic of chopping off boss extensions even though he had done it before in Mistral's fight, which is another frustrating thing.
There is additionally a lot of disdain for those who use the Fox Blade. It is an op weapon made as a crutch to help players through the story. I am not gatekeeping it's use, but to keep in mind that connor is using an op weapon and he is still failing repeatedly because he is not listening and or reading to the instructions tutorialised for him.
We watch connor because we like connor. Do you really think that the majority of people commenting on connor's 10 hour vod are non fans? We wont watch something else because we want to watch connor. Still, it is simply frustrating to see someone play the game THIS wrong. That's why so many are venting in the comments.

They're pretty wrong on a technical level too, you know. Raiden just isn't a rhetorician or master debater, he's a murder machine, so he just cuts off the conversation when he doesn't have a response so he can start murderin'. There's a reason they're the villains and not the heroes.

@@Andrew-tj8pr oh yeah, he definitely only played the game to see the maxor memes. i think that the dialogue is hilarious however, and actually really smartly written as a criticism of the landscape of warfare if you take the time to actually think about it.
the post boss dialogue also helps characterize the winds of destruction even more, like how bladewolf's assists "i'm my own master now" in kickstarting his journey on finding his own purpose for existing, or how mistral's assist "a stranger i remain" in narrating how she has finally found her purpose through combat.
is mgrr goofy? hell yeah, of course it is. it actively plays into it and turns it into a strength. in the landscape of games trying to be cinematic or artistic, its great to hearken back to a game who's tone is primarily to be fun. however, with this fun mgrr balances a smart narrative and character. one that listening to the dialogue can help you understand.
this is why i, like many others find connor skipping dialogue a little annoying. because his experience could have been so much more.
