- Giannis Antetokounmpo didn’t always look like a Greek god. Stephen Curry used to be even more baby-faced than he is now. James Harden’s beard wasn’t always so magnificent. Today, we take a look back at NBA superstars when they were first-year novices, long before they solidified their respective places among the all-time greats. We are going to see why these future stars showed so much promise at such a young age. This is, Every NBA Star’s Best Play As A Rookie!

I've never seen Duncan with those kind of ups, but it fits...he even banked his dunks.
The guy only needs like a 24 inch vert to dunk like that lol 😂
@@yogyamehra5075 I think 20 is more than enough lol
He had them till tore his meniscus in 2000. Dude was athletic as all hell. Spent the rest of his career with a knee brace managing the load he was putting on that leg, though tbh, robbing some of his athleticism and making him jump less probably made his career longer. The biggest key to a long NBA career without injuries is honestly to jump less - Jokic will stay in the NBA for a long time
It’s funny in the intro you couldn’t say anything about Bron looking different as a rookie because he came into league looking like a 30 year old man
not even speaking about greg oden
LOL
@@juansebastianraadmeza9405 it's funny because they look alike its almost like they're father and son.
@ANTHONY VANCE I don't know what kind of babies you have in your area that make you say Lebron is a babyface.
Well yeah?
Announcer be like: "How old is he? 12?" 😂
That may be the flashiest play of duncan's career
That’s a fact bro!😂😂
What I'm saying😂
💯💯💯 lol he probably felt guilty afterwards
Young DUNCAN! 😂
@@RobMancusoJr He is holding his laugh for not getting a technical
It's crazy to me Durant played for Seattle. Seems like a lifetime ago basketball was in Seattle.
I was going to say the same thing I didn’t remember he was ever a sonic thought they had already moved
he old as shit
Seattle needs a team
Allen Iverson legendary rookie play. Even more if you hear Phil call MJ out there to check him. I get chills every time I see that clip!
Yeah MJ recovered really well but he is 6'6" and AI I definitely under 5'11" (6' and met him..MAYBE 5'10")
So, it was a huge announcement to the world that he was 100% unguardable just to get that off on MJ, the DPOY.
And AI's teardrop also got better and better.
Just amazing.
@@efisgpr I think AI had to shoot it. Either shake 1 GOAT level defender with shake and bake crossover jumper or run into 2 more GOAT level defenders in Rodman and Pippen 😁
#1 iconic rookie play of the era for sure
@@efisgpr While not "meeting" him I've been in his presence. You're right... He's never seen 6'0 a day in his life.
The Answer changed the way kids like me played the game of basketball. We started going for hard "bait" crossovers, hanging the ball out there until that moment the defender gets on his heels, then jamming it to the other hand and flying by him.
That move crossing up Jordan... everybody in the building, and at home tuned in, knew about the build up to that game. MJ's the g.o.a.t., AI's the new hotness, the young phenom... I still remember how much that matchup was talked about... Watch it again, everyone on the court except for the big men down low stopped to watch what Iverson / Jordan would do. It was that big a deal, and Iverson proved he wasn't all hype.
After he had Mike going the wrong way on that play, they started calling "carrying" on his hard cross. If you watch how he does it, his hand never dips below the ball, his shoulder moves make it look that way. lol come in the league, cross up it's best player, they immediately find something wrong with how you play lmao
D Rose and AI's rookie plays were so savage. AI easily had the best rookie play of all time crossing the GOAT!
Arguable. Well that Carmelo Anthony dunk on yao ming is always acceptable enough to rival it.
Derrick Rose's was better.
AI barely crossed him just enough space MJ was right there on the shot.
@@antonioguglielmetti2661eh about derrick's. But you're right about AI, but I jus think it's the fact he crossed Michael... as a RooKie
Did you not see what Tatum did to LeBron? Gotta put that as my number 1

Funny, how Steph's and Ray Allen's best plays aren't 3-pointers.

Some of these really show the stoe of player they got to be. Lillard’s is a game winner from deep, Vince made one of the best in game dunks, Luka got off a circus shot, AI crossing Jordan with his handles, Jokic with the trick pass, Shaq with a monster dunk
And Ray Allen with a reverse dunk :DDD
and Steph with his handle
Tatum with a chest puff on LBJ like “I’m the new king” lmao.
Dame still hitting them game winner back then

3:11 was he a rookie at this time 🥵😨
The thing is VC spent 3 years in college so he was already well developed when he went to the NBA

He did - MJ recovered well but AI had a decent J.

Lebron’s windmill was fire but the uncalled travel laid a foundation for the future.
Lol. Not sure if ur joking or blind
@@rawbee8932 nah he right that was easily a travel
Damn that was a clear travel but a clean finish
Nah. Two hands, gather step, one two jump on two. Therefore not a travel
@@aldag5412 It’s a travel, but they rarely call it for any player. I remember Pippen used to travel a very similar way all the time in the mid 90s.
it hurts so much to see Rose as a young explosive rookie while exactly knowing what will happen :( :( :(
Yeah
That intro was so unnecessarily badass lmao
Vince Carter and his dunks...there will be no one better, ever!!
4:05 Lebron's face after Tatum dunks and chest bumps him 😱😂🤣
He's like this Lil nigga really tryna flex. And then Boston lost. I'm a Boston fan too so that shit hurt
Refs been letting LeBron travel ever since the beginning wtf
Casual.
Bro I thought the same with that play lol
He dribbled twice. You just cant see it at the first angle
Clear travel
3 steps after the dribble. 1st step is the gather. Secnd and third are valid
Awesome video 🔥💯
@2:13 is that AI vs MJ? WOW!😳
That is one hell of a move by AI.
That Jokic one is crazy. Even when you KNOW it's going to happen (because you're rewatching it), it's STILL hard to follow. Just wow!! 😳😳👍👏

One of the best highlight videos I’ve ever seen
Young Chris Paul and Kyrie handles are really similar when you observer how fluid it looks . It makes me thing maybe Kyrie will become a point god(in terms of changing a franchise through iq and leadership) when he gets older and wiser.
Tmac, Dirk, Jordannnnn gah damn their rookie highlights was amazing
LeBron traveling since a rookie
That Nicola Jokic one was insane
Nice one Akumpo
Was hoping for some Ant and LaMelo highlights but this was sick!
Iverson was the best one, talking about crossing the great MJ
Only highlight of his career 😂
Great video idea.
"Michael! D up on em."
You can see Phil nod as Iverson puts up the shot like yup that just happened.
Legendary
I was at this game in Trae Young’s rookie season, it was against the bucks, and it was in overtime. John Collins went to the basket after a miss and tipped it to Trae, and Traetipped it in in midair. It was so crazy, it was a game winner

Props for the intro
Curry and James highlights is the best.
Melo posterizing Yao Ming as a rookie is 🔥
Gotta love Jason Kidd, for no particular reason, doing a double clutch mid-air on the 3 pointer at the buzzer. Not a double pump on the shot to shake the defender as is typical for jumper mind you, but an in air double clutch. Style points do count, and I guess he figured why should they be reserved only for dunks. I forgot how funky his shot was early in his NBA career, as it got much better later.
Verry good video
For you young guys, getting old suckssss. I am the same age as Wade, and I remember it like it was yesterday. It was 15 years ago, and they all retired now. It hurts! haha
LeBron with that travel though... 😂😂
Allen iversons reaction after it wasant counted as a 3: ugh I should’ve let Igoudala take the shot🤦♂️
That dunk from Ray Allen was L O U D
It's funny how hyped the Rockets announcers, Bill Worrell and Calvin Murphy, were for the highlights against them lol(Kidd, Melo, and KG). Murph was prolly going more crazy for that Melo dunk than the announcers for the Nuggets were @3:34 lmao
Notice any similarity between Giannis and KG? WOW
Yea but kg could go to work in the post and show wayy better
That intro🔥🔥🔥
Kanye gave Jay that beat an Jay ripped it
The announcer said talking about Lebron “How old is he, 12?” 😂
What I learned...
1. Giannis looked like Gumby from Year 1. He's now a muscular Gumby.
2. James Harden looked for fouls from Year 1. Right after the dunk he holds up 3 fingers like, "And 1?"
3. Tim Duncan banked everything...even dunks.
4. DRose is this generation's Grant Hill...we got robbed as fans due to injuries.
5. Dame had game winners from Year 1.
6. Vince had the dunks from Year 1.
7. Carmelo Anthony is this generation's Alex English. In 20 years, we'll need to be reminded he was good.
8. Wade mastered the stylish fall down/roll into a sitting like a badass as a rookie.
9. Jokic had jokes from Year 1. Just clowning people. (Side Note: Kenneth Faried's career died as soon as big men were required to have range.)
10. Steph had the tricks from Year 1.
11. Year 1 LeBron looks like a skinnier Year 17 LeBron. Hairline was receding even in Year 1.
You learned all of this from this video? You must have just had your 11th birthday?
WHAT A TRAVEL FROM LEBRON
I was gonna say
All good plays no doubt. My favorite were Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Garnett.
Lebron's dunk was a travel when he picked up the ball 😂
Lol I saw that too that’s hilarious
Letravel James.
He traveled twice… right after the block when he gathered the ball he took 4 steps before dribbling then 3 steps on the way to dunking! 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻🤪😂🤣
Glad that also Bellinelli was included in this rookie highlights...
James hardens beard wasnt always so magnificent.... that sounded so cool
Ja, luka, zion
And some real good potential
Moses brown, halliburton, kpjr
