Unfortunately, some women prioritize men over children they should be protecting. My best friend growing up was the youngest of three girls. She was attacked her stepfather when we were thirteen years old. Luckily, she managed to get away before he could rape her.
It came out later that he'd begun grooming her eldest sister almost immediately after marrying their mother, eventually sexually abusing her for years until she left home contentiously at age sixteen to escape him. The middle daughter would never answer questions about whether he'd abused her, which to me was always answer enough on its own.
Their mother stayed with him, even after DCS mandated that he not be allowed to live in the same house as either of the still underage girls. Years later, SHE BROUGHT HIM AS HER PLUS ONE TO MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING.
My mother's childhood best friend was also abused by not one, but TWO stepfathers. Her mother did not leave either of them upon finding out, but instead blamed her own daughter for the abuse.

We had a serial killer from Melbourne seriously considered for parole not long ago, he killed 4 or 5 women as a very young adult, he's in his 40s now, still capable of heinous things. Like others have said, only if the investigators preserved evidence at all and properly, some cases were solved only due to that one detective that wouldn't let the evidence room throw away evidence. Comes to mind the cars where the guy put women in a refrigerator and then years later after he the detective fought tooth and nail to keep that fridge ,and they finally were able to use the slightest amount of DNA, blood .Anyway they finally caught the guy. I can't remember the other details or majority of them...

The part where the narrator says you have to wait 24 hrs to file missing person report is wrong. If anyone ever tells you theres a waiting period before filing do not listen to them, including law enforcement. Demand, tell them youre not leaving, make a scene whatever it takes to get them to take you seriously. If you know they arent the type to disappear without telling someone demand to speak with detectives in charge of missing persons. I repeat, there is no law or rule that you have to wait any length of time to file missing person. Waiting seals the fate of the truly missing.

Let me ask you this....what do you think would happen to you if for 20 years the police claimed a woman had been r*p*d and murdered and then it is discovered that your DNA is inside her? Do you think you are coming in and saying "oh that...."? No way, you will be booked for murder. The fact that the police simply tossed out that evidence and stopped looking for the man who had left his DNA inside the dead victim is beyond me. When have you ever heard of the police doing that? Absolutely never. Gilley claimed at trial that yes, his DNA would be on the blue jeans. He stated they use to pull up to some lovers lane and have s*x in the vehicle and then clean up with a pair of old blue jeans in the back seat. True? IDK. But that...or DNA inside her? I would surely keep looking for the DNA inside here. What if is determined that the holder of the DNA had been arrested and released for a prior r*pe and did not know the victim. Then would that change your outlook? Police need to find who;s DNA was inside Laura...not just throw it out. And the knocked out teeth...determined 100% false at the trial with simple dental records. Gilley seen leaving the scene of the crime? Determined 100% false at trial....he had sold that vehicle two weeks prior. Just something to think about.

The problem is that the amount of work and money it would cost, isn't manageable and that for like one case out of a few hundred. You can't pin a number on someone's life, but you also can't give infinite money to the coppers.

There is no time limit you have to wait to call in someone missing. Maybe there was a time police departments could make it part of their operations but I know other murders around the same time or earlier police didn’t wait. Unfortunately movies, TV, books, or just believe if told by friend/family. I wish every true crime show or podcast put that info up at the beginning of each episode about true crime. Most ppl do know the first 24-48 hours are crucial.Because people usually call everyone the missing person knows looking for them first. It’s when memories are most reliable for one, or may still find the person alive.
As far as funding, police have so much they’re looking for new things to buy. Small cities of 200 thousand people, some of their towns have tanks. It’s all about the toys. Police just used to have one belt with a few pockets. Now their vests have tons of stuff in them. Small town police cars can afford custom The Punisher logos painted on their cars. The money is there, it’s just what they choose to spend it on unfortunately. And that comes from multiple police officers and administration personally. And then I hear budget numbers. I think you can get most of that online. It’s too bad dispersing money to more or new staff or just train some cops to deal with certain situations (mental crisis, drugged out, domestic violence etc)has the worst slogan. Sounds like Ppl want money to be cut from the cops but really it’s updating departments to a very different world than just say, 30 years ago. It’s not defunding It’s updating.

Before finding out he was innocent, and the police force was so crooked by forcing him to admit to something when he could only understand yes or no questions. Eventually they passed a bill or a law in his name but guess what 50 years or more later that’s how long it took for the government to admit they screwed up and publicly announced his innocence, and that he never took part in the crime now imagine how many mentally retarded innocent people go to jail for the rest of their lives and get sentenced to death and die and are never exonerated for the crimes and the government covers it up.😢

Imo, the whole 24 hours time frame is way too long and just jeopardizes missing people, but I know way too many people argue against doing away with that time frame. It should really be decided on a case-by-case basis.
I feel like a good middle ground would be checking the victim’s text history with a close loved one and their employment/school attendance. If the victim is known to text and update super often and are super punctual to their work/school, then the 24 hours should be ignored or lessened. If the victim is known to go no contact or misses work/school often, then the 24 hour period could be honored. And of course, if the missing person is a minor, the time frame should just be ignored regardless. Way too many missing children and teens are written off as runaways which has caused way too many tragedies.

I was under the impression that Hall turned out to be a serial killer who had an inmate go undercover and get him to confess to many murders. This is from his Wikipedia page.
Larry Dewayne Hall (born December 11, 1962) is an American murderer, rapist, and convicted serial killer who stalked and murdered numerous girls and women between the early-1980s and early-1990s. An aficionado of the American Revolution and Civil War, Hall traveled around the Midwest for historical reenactments where he would often abduct, rape, torture, and murder girls and women, typically teenagers or young adults, but sometimes pre-teens or middle-aged. He came to police attention after the discovery of a 15-year-old's remains in November 1993 and was convicted of her kidnapping. He later confessed to that and an additional murder, though recanted his confessions of both crimes. Since his arrest, Hall has confessed to more than 35 murders, recanting them all, though authorities believe he could be responsible for the deaths and disappearances of between 40 and 50 young women, which would place him among the most prolific serial killers in American history.

I found, "The police’s theory was that Anthony had been out on December 20, stealing Christmas presents from random cars. Juli had returned home from dropping her friend off at the airport, and Anthony saw her. Juli was abducted at gun point, and directed to drive to the lake. Anthony then, sexually assaulted and killed Juli." I hope is death is extremley painful and that he rots in Hell for all eternity.

rayna was working at the vet clinic before her date. she was meeting her ex boyfriend there to go on a special date. her car was supposed to be there.
now, as someone who worked for a vet, we don't go on a special date after feeding the animals and cleaning the kennels without showering first.
it just seemed weird to me when i saw this case on another video - and then fell asleep before knowing who killed her.
if they were meeting at the clinic, when the date was over, she would have to be dropped off at the clinic to pick up her car.

Certainly seems the weakest of these cases in terms of evidence against the suspect, at least in how it's presented here.
It's basically just on the testimony of two witnessed who both have an interest in lying to save their own asses.
According to a 2016 article in the South Bend tribune the guy who was 14 at the time wanted to use his testimony to get his own murder sentence modified.
And Freeman of course, one could say, was given immunity if he said what prosecuters wanted to hear.
Now, that doesn't mean they lied, court of appeals said their testimonies support each other too well and I don't know what other evidence was presented. Still feels less certain.
Sisters husband apparently committed suicide in jail, can't find why he was arrested though.

If people witness Laura salmon being violently treated the way she was with her head slammed against the locker or a car Etc and nobody reported it they could be technically as guilty as her killer for not reporting it. Am I the only person who finds the fact that these things were never reported disturbing more than the murder itself, it isn't uncommon for abusive Partners to kill or caused the death of even if you want to call it accidental death there's no accident involved they damage the person so much that their body dies from causes that are sometimes slow to kill them ft are already in play at the time in this case if people witnessed it and they did nothing one has to ask the question how could you be silent.
Frankly I can understand a person being too afraid to say anything but they could have called the police and said they witnessed a guy assaulting young woman, could have done so anonymously and then the police have to investigate it cuz she is a juvenile technically.
