They really built good chemistry through each episode. At the first they like a mouse and a cat, an enemies who lived in different world but at the end the viewers can feel their aum's love😌 that these two are made from heaven for each other
So Yong's soul became stronger after the switch on ep 6-7. She normally comes out when the scene becomes too emotional and involves the king. Remember the explosion? Bong hwan/SoBong doesnt call King "Jeonha" (did I spell that right?) but after the explosion, the Queen was crying and said "...but the King (Jeonha)" while the maid was trying to pull her out of the scene which i believed SoYong went out there a little bit. Also, do not forget that the moment SoYong took complete control over her body, she stab Kim Jwa gun with her Hairpin when he tried to stab the king. So I guess its just proved that SoYong is not irrelevant but a key reason why at times SoBong becomes protective of the King.
I'm quite satisfied with the ending. It seems that the real queen can be fierce as Bong Hwan (as we saw how she handled the Grandmother Queen in ep 20 and the lake scene with hwajin before she jump off the lake) and she can be whacky as him. Its just that her version of weirdness is softer and more graceful compare to SoBong given that she was trained to be a Queen since childhood.
OMG YESSS!! finally someone said this. i mean, if So Yong isn't aware of the situation and all the people saying she only takes the credit, she won't choose the lake to meet the king in the final scene which shows she remember and feels everything.

Agree with you...and bonghwan isn't left empty handed during his time in soyong's body.. he transform to be a better man.. Not the greedy and conceited portrayed in 1st episode ..

The fact that both of them played their part equally great..great chemistry..great connection..even when junghyun did adlib..all went on smoothly..i always love watching period dramas..may it be during Joseon or Goryeo times..but Mr Queen is the best..still smile laughed at the funny jokes or punchlines..even when watching it so many times..😂😂😂

Whenever king cheoljong says something, his words bounce back at him. And lets say that side of king cj makes him even more cute and made us fall into him.
For me, I think Bong hwan is Soyong's reincarnation in the future and also an alter ego in joseon time that was kept hidden due to her family's pressure and the kind of situation she was in: and that was being the catalyst of Kim Clan's stay in power. Obviously, she loves the King, that's why she hates to be the queen and be her family's spy to the king. She opposed this by being "unqueenly": deliberately harsh on her servants; being manipulative and demanding to the king, despite knowing that the king will hate her more. In short, she acted twistedly on purpose to be able to leave the palace. The king found her character apalling because he believed she's no different from her family and all he wanted was to get out of their clutches and also he love someone else. There was an episode where Hong Yeon said that Soyong changed so much. Gone was the girl who is full of laughter; the girl with kind and bubbly personality. All left were sadness, lies, bitterness and insecurities. There was an episode too where the grand queen dowager realized all of the queen's past doings to be able to leave the Palace. The queen was in terrible despair of her situation, she asked the dowager to let her leave, but when she was not allowed, she resorted to end her own life, drowning in misery. Being in the palace, She Lose herself in the process. :( And I think that was the reason why Bong Hwan came into the picture. To help her regaining back her old self and also unleash her hidden self: the one that is happy, bubbly but also confident to stand up for what is right and just, though in a VERY UNCONVENTIONAL/MAGNIFIED/OUTLANDISH way. 😂 Obviously at first, Bong Hwan rules the queen's body. But I believe, in the middle and at the end of the story, It's Soyong's: the REAL Soyong, a combination of Soyong and Bong Hwan's personality that was hidden due to her family's pressure. But this is comedy, so we should expect that Bong Hwan's character is 100 times magnified in Soyong's. So when Bong Hwan's soul went back to the future, the Bong Hwan's ego/character in Soyong was a bit subdued. This is my take on the drama itself. I won't question the love of the king to Soyong because SoBong is the real Soyong all along. The drama, at first, emphasized separately on Soyong's "weakness" and Bong Hwan's "strength" of character, hence men's voice over female's body. Along the middle of the story, there's the confusion of who is ruling on the queen's body, then at the end, the acceptance. So one would think, that the combination of both soul/character/ego was not far-fetched at all. Afterall a normal human have both strengths and weaknesses. :)

From korean version that I observed, So Yong's soul always shows up during romantic scenes whenever she's with the King, while Bong only delivers her rage, revenge, and survival in the palace as he has this pride that he always wants to win.
I noticed that when Bong realized they can switch when So Yong in reality, is consummating with the King while he was in the fantasy of consummating with Hoyeon. Later on, he lets So Yong show her love for the King by 'experimenting' on kissing him.
Another is if u noticed, there is a scene where Bong remembers a memory of So Yong selected as the Queen infront of the King, her dress is yellow but in the special episode it's light orange pink, his memory of her only portrayed of how happy So Yong was during the queen selection and as a result of it is wearing yellow as a sign of happiness.
Tbh, Bong doesnt want the King touching him cause So Yong shows up and just all out show her love hahahahah!
Soyung soul was never in her body after the suicide attempt. It was BongHwan in the Queen's body all the time that truly made the King fall in love with. Saying she showed up during intimate scenes is a pathetic excuse to not make BongHwan's feeling valid. If Soyung was always there the whole time, she could've switch places with BongHwan often. She could've talk or communicate with BongHwan occasionally.
@@KingOfThePirates101 I agree with you, for Bonghwan's feelings later on ... however Soyong's soul is inside the body as well but taking passenger's seat - (she's aware of everything but very minimal reactions). I think it happened when the Queen passed out in the kitchen and went into vegetable state. Bonghwan went to his body and then went back to the queen's body with Soyong in it but too weak to fully control her body. That's why all Soyong 's memory went back as well...
Also as you can see there's confrontation between the 2 (Soyong + Sobong) when it comes to the king's intimate activity 🤭
Anyway, I'm team Sobong +King..so, for me the ep.20 is a sad ending😒😑
Agree. After Queen experienced the vegetative state (ep. 7), Soyong's soul was slowly coming back. Actually this kinda reminds me of Oh My Ghost. When the ghost possessed the girl (played by Boyoung), she became brave and outspoken. At the end, the ghost left her and she really changed. I think it's the same with Soyong. Bonghwan 'helped' her in many situations but to say that Soyong doesn't do anything is somehow not true.
@@flowergirl79 Yes. I like *Oh my Ghost* story because it has closure. I also love that the girl is honest about a ghost possessed her and the chef has a time to reflect who is the one he genuinely loves.
While in Mr.Queen, Sobong provoked the king eventually to be drawn closer to her and deeply in love however I don't like the ending, Soyong doesn't say anything to the king eventhough all this time she knew it was someone else in her body and she knows everything as they share same memories. It's not fair for the king nor Bong Hwan 😏

Came across Shin Hye Sun for the first time watching this drama. Then watched most of her previous work. She is now my favourite actress ever. What a wonderful actress.

i think when the king said 'something missing' its not related to bonghwan but bcs king and queen already didnt meet each other since a long time. The proves when they visit each other but no one there bcs they also go to meet in same time and then the king said "we miss each other so badly and go to the lake" so the line of king said he is missing something is reference to 'he is missing his queen so badly so he cant focus on his work'

I see a lot of people explaining how it was not bong hwan loving the king but is actually soyong but for me it just seems like they can’t accept a man falling in love with another man. Soyong and sobong are the same and they both care about the king. Personally I prefer so bong, without him the queen is just dead.
Bong Hwan really do love the king, it's confusing what kind of love the writter intented but the smile at the end when bong Hwan read about king in historical books says they had an emotional bond...anyone can name the bond any name...for me I want it to be not named...some relations are beautiful like that❤️
