  • Nick Dahan travels to Quebec to work with three Tier II Jr. A athletes to hone their agility and preparedness.
    When engaged in a team consultation, our goal is to utilize game footage analysis as an educational tool for each goaltender. As athletes become increasingly cognizant of their tendencies and begin to comprehend more effective save techniques, they exhibit heightened enthusiasm and vigour in subsequent training sessions.
    Critical Learning Points:
    - How to readily c-cut backwards - Refer to 4:05
    - Employ both legs uniformly and set faster - Refer to 9:05
    - Keep your knees tighter when leaning towards the puck - Refer to 11:45
    - Slide quicker without turning - Refer to 15:41

    Wow never even think you can also speak french, like you can literraly just make the traduction of your video and bam you'll instantly get all the french speaking goalie in your pocket! My 10 year old son love to watch your video but I have to do the translation. After this one he will beg me to be in one of your camp. You're clearly one of the best competitive instructor I've seen!

    Great information, I learned a few key things I’ve been doing wrong from this video from C cuts and only using one leg to stop not both to share the load ( how I will remember it is that key word share the load ) too make sure to move the body and not your arms to reach for the saves.

    As ALWAYS Nick, very nice educative video. I'll work on my C-cuts this week and try to be more on my legs instead of sliding. Super bon francais en passant ;)

      #1 rule about passes. Always beat them on your feet. The Adin Hill paddle save from game 1 of the finals is what can happen when you dont.

    this is golden for me, I don't have a goalie coach and I'm coaching some kids!
    Q: when they go down/up/down this has to be don with both knees at the same time?

    • @Dahanhockey
      @Dahanhockey  10 개월 전 +9

      Dropping into the butterfly is best done with both knees at the same time to distribute the weight evenly allowing a quicker seal on the ice.
      Recovering back into their feet is best done one leg at a time for speedy movement with a tighter stance.

    I’ve been a goalie for 30 years . The bottom line is with modern equipment and a little technique you can be OK. To be very good is a tremendous amount of work on details to make you stand above.

    Is it over kill for a 36yo 5'7" beer leaguer to get a goalie coach? I enjoy the game but want to be better and why play if i don't want to grow?

    • @RandomGuyCDN
      @RandomGuyCDN 9 개월 전

      youtuber the puck stops here went to some goalie coach sessions after a break to get back into the swing of things. It's probably really good to go for a few sessions if you never played goalie and went to goalie camps in your younger years. Learning really basic fundamentals and not having bad habits will probably carry you pretty far as a beer league goalie.
      Some people also literally play beer league just to have some out of work time with buddies who also enjoy hockey and dont care about the result much.
      If your looking for knowledge as well try and find the book "hockey goaltending by Eli Wilson & Brian van Vliet" Eli Wilson is Carey Price's goalie coach. It has lots of really good tips, routines for strength/flexibility training and skating drills that you can probably do by yourself if you have access to an ODR in the winter (I sometimes go to my ODR's when no one is around in my pads, skates, kneepads , glove, blocker and stick and some pucks to put as pylons and do skating drills for shits)
