A few weeks ago I by chance had Burnside play on my Play Music super mix. I had never heard of him and I honestly thought it was new music. I instantly loved it and started seeking out other songs of his. Tonight I thought to myself “I wonder if this guy is touring anywhere close” so I googled him for tour dates. Needless to say I was shocked to find out that he has been dead for 18 years and some of my favorite songs I had heard had came out even I was 12 years old! lol. I sat and read more about his life. What a legend this guy is.
The legend mr. RL Burnside 🎸🏆 and congratulations to the grandson of RL Burnside Cedric Burnside that him on the drums 🥁 for his 2022 Grammy win for traditional blues in a big shout-out to his guitarist Mr Kenny Brown thank you all for keeping Hill country blues a live for the next generation
Yea R.L still has the Art from 100 yrs ago Matter a fact There's a Bunch he just released on youtube from 1978 RL wearing a Burgandy silk shirt " Got my Jumper on the Line "
Incredible let down to see they didnt leave enough time to speak to him for at least a couple of minutes. Everyone would've enjoyed that. But there are great documentaries on Mississippi Delta and Hill Country blues. RL can be found there.
just listened to that video for Jumper on the Line a few times, was reading his wiki and saw he’d had a performance on Conan so searched it up and here I am. that would have been a solid pick. on the other hand as someone checking out his work I don’t know if I would have picked out this song on his listings if hadn’t heard it here. really great musician
@@-8l-924 also if u havn't already, chk out Going Down South live / Burnside on Burnside- it is a burner!🔥🔥 His good friend Junior Kimbrough was a legend- he will hypnotize you! I suggest All Night Long live at his juke joint

RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, and, in general, Northern Mississippi Hill Country Blues is the best blues to dance to. Love it!

Thanks for this amazing video!
Sad he wasn't really noticed or known of outside of the blues country, and was really old when he finally became known.
