Honda and Toyota should sell a plan that includes automatic timing-belt changes, brake-pad replacement, and oil-changes on a set schedule; as preventative maintenance. But they don’t, because it would double the price of the car. If Daihatsu could sell cars in America, everything would change for the better.

Why not just undo the Cam belt Tensioner ?? because you need it undone when you replace the belt
Exactly. In fact I would bring the marks up TDC and lock the cam so I don't have to retime it. And all the shock when that belt snaps is never good
