The Doctor running not because he was scared of a family but because he genuinely was being kind is probably the best badass moment in the show.

And when he was finally forced to face them, they all got some living hell consequences.
And readily drew a bunch of innocent people into the crossfire, up to and including the fake human that took his place.

The fact that they covered the books (as seen in 1:42) means the doctor will win 100%, the show makes him powerful but the books make him straight up incomprehensible in power.

The Doctor clears Rick easily for one simple reason: The Doctor earned his position as the smartest man in the universe through his actions. Rick cheated his way into being considered the smartest in the universe by only ever going to realities where that was already true.

Rick has only ever succeeded through plot convenience. R&M's actual storytelling is a disaster, the entire show is just asspulling whatever they want on the fly to try and make a point. It's half all just a joke, the other half a piss poor attempt at preaching angsty teen philosophy.
Rick is only the smartest person in his universe (multiverse) because he is described as such. Nothing he does actually seems particularly intelligent.

Lets not forget that the doctor also fought in the time war, a several centuries long war throughout time and space where he had to face not only the Daleks, but it mentioned that he fought Lovecraftian abominations such as the Nightmare Child, "the could have been king" with his army of "meanwhile's" and "never-were's". The war was basically hell, the time lords were losing, and not even bringing the Master out of oblivion as a weapon could help.
The Time War Doctor saw so much throughout the conflict, and we physically got to see how much he had aged during "the name of the doctor" and "Night of the doctor" stories. He started off as a man in his earlier 30's and ended the war looking like a man in his early 70's. Time lords don't age the same way humans and other species do, so we can only imagine how long he was fighting for.
basically he has a few millennia's worth of fighting experience compared to Rick, and 90% or more of that was done without a weapon.

This is going to be an interesting match, not really fair considering that Rick runs from people that warp reality, but those same types of people flee in terror from The Doctor.
The Doctor should have this in the bag, he has a lot more high-end feats and abilities. Especially so if extended media is considered.

You grossly underestimate what Rick is capable of.
He's not a pacifist, he just doesn't like killing. He totally kills when he gets angry or protective. He has dissolved, stabbed, time-locked, aged, dehydrated, and blown up enemies before. and if he gets really upset, he sends them to their own personal hells. he lets some of them off at Christmas if they are redeemable.
Is Rick redeemable?

Considering The Doctor is truly immortal (See the 13th/14th doctor series). Is the reason the Timelords can Regenerate to begin with and has past regenerations he doesn't remember. So the double kill weakness may not actually effect The Doctor.
That may be debatable really. I think we'll need more information on that bit
But to be fair, I'm OK with not including it if it means we don't need to talk about Timeless Child. People may decide to watch Doctor Who thanks to this episode and I don't want their first introduction to be via timeless child

Going on Fate VS Strange vibes of how this fight will pan out.
Rick is a man who claims he's a God and is good at playing the part.
The Doctor already is a god, but he is just really good at claiming he's a man.
Doctor who and death battle. Two of my favourite shows together at last. In the words of christopher ecleston, this is simply FANTASTIC!!!
I've gotten into death battle lately and I had been super hyped for the new Rick & Morty season.
May the most hyped fan win
My main thoughts are:
1) The Doctor has waaaaay more willpower than Rick. Rick has tried to… unalive himself multiple times, but The Doctor spent BILLIONS of years escaping from an elaborate prison with a monster constantly chasing him.
2) The Doctor is waaaaay more experienced than Rick. The Doctor has been alive and adventuring across time and space for millennia, typically going straight from one disaster to another with little respite in between. Rick is 70 years old.
3) Doctor Who tech has a higher threshold than Rick and Morty tech. Consider Rick Prime’s Omega Device which could kill infinite iterations of a person across the infinite multiverse; he even recently upgraded it to kill multiple different people in quick succession. This is the most deadly weapon Rick has encountered, by far. Meanwhile the Daleks made the Reality Bomb, which was going to destroy infinite EVERYTHINGS across infinite universes! And The Doctor directly fights and defeats Daleks capable of that level of technology on a fairly regular basis. Rick was frustrated by magic until he learned how to harness it, while Time Lords who were frustrated by magic just decided to get rid of (almost all of) it altogether.
4) The Doctor is waaaaaaay smarter than Rick. When Jerry merges his mind with Rick (twice), he’s perfectly fine. If Jerry had melded minds with The Doctor, his brain would have BURNED!
5) The Doctor is waaaaay tougher than Rick. Infinite regenerations, surviving a fall to Earth from a speeding spaceship like it was nothing, temporarily surviving a radiation chamber that could completely disintegrate a normal human (what killed the 10th), he’s fine to lick glowing goo if a human doesn’t instantly die standing several feet away from it, respiratory bypass, a reaction time that can catch darts fired at him from across a small table without having to look at it, etc.
6) Good men don’t need rules. In practically every adventure, The Doctor has been holding back. The Family of Blood saw what happens when he starts getting serious; when he decides to fight back instead of just hiding from his pursuers.
dont forget that the doctor isnt actually a Timelord, but the source of the Regeneration Energy stuff and literally has unlimited ones which dont really have the "if you die during, Youll die" thing applyed to it. yes, the Seasons with the female doctor have done weird stuff with the character, but they are still canon.

I don’t think that they are fully immortal though. In the episode where time was altered so that Donna Noble never met The Doctor, he had died. Though that may have been partly because he was so guilty about killing an entire race of spider people.
I will never forget that Doc has survived reentry velocity like it was nothing. Rick’s tech hax could barely make a dent in that.

@@KRplusIsRanByNazis I feel like if The Doctor was truly serious about killing Rick from the start, he could easily talk an already suicidal Rick to death with a few sentences. Or use his sonic screwdriver to make Rick’s cybernetics malfunction or hack his Portal Gun to go to the Blender Dimension.
Or go back in time to… unalive a less powerful season one Rick when he’s blackout drunk.
Or do the Doctor Who solution of traveling back to Rick’s crybaby origin story and stopping the bomb from killing his family in the first place. Thus rendering the Death Battle pointless.

I'm betting on the doctor if for no other reason than the fact that he has 60 years of adventures and lore behind him. Generally, the older characters tend to win these fight because more lore usually means they have more ridiculous feats of power beneath their belt.
Plus the doctor is genuine good person verses Rick whose an actual monster and it just feels good rooting for the hero.
So who’s everyones favourite Doctor? For me I’ve got to go with the 10th Doctor David Tennant however I do really enjoy Eccleston and Smith in the role as well.
Smith but I can respect a David fan.
For me, it’s Tom Baker. Although David Tennant was my first Doctor.
New Who: Tennant and Smith.
Old Who: Tom Baker.
I don’t watch Doctor Who but my favorite is the Matt Smith’s iteration.
I remember watching Tom Baker as a kid. He'll always be my Doctor.
the doctor was also the only one "mad" enough to use the most powerful time lord weapon (other than the ultimate sanction) that was in the omega arsenal during the time war
I like how the weapon wants even "mad" enough to use itself.
The Doctor in a way is also a paradoxically fixed point himself if I'm remembering this correctly as one time he was only sealed away in a giant cube he ended up breaking all of time and had to restart it with a second big bang
The thing is, the doctor is really hard to pin down power wise. He has a lot of abilities that you tend to only see once or for a single season then never again after regeneration. When was the last time he just hauled off and transmigrated stuff? Also, a large part of his character is how he wins without fighting. A good bluff, a good run for your life while he thinks, that sort of thing. A blood lusted doctor would be terrifying if he gets the chance to work with his time travel. But if rick can do the same, it becomes an odd game of rocket tag.
The Doctor is trained in venusian akido and even taught Bruce Lee some moves
The funniest moment in the entire story was in the backyard when Amy suddenly realized that she was the Doctor's mother-in-law.

I... i just can't see how this episode doesn't turn out to be Doctor Who curb stomping Rick
I can see The Doctor winning by preventing Rick from ever existing, likely through preventing Rick Prime from ever killing variant Rick's wives, and thus Rick and Morty just never happens. That's the most in character way for The Doctor to end a Death Battle. However they do seem to have a *Someone MUST die* rule, so perhaps we just see a Doctor with no rules, nothing holding him back, and he just annihilates Rick's whole multiverse, as he sorta has done this to various species before.
If Rick doesn't have Morty, he loses his chief enabler.
If the Doctor doesn't have a companion, there's no one to stop him.
I suspect that their companions will die halfway through, and it will go downhill for Rick from there.
I'm pretty sure the Doctor has this. The writers of Rick & Morty banned time travel from their show because they believed it would make things too complicated too easily. The Doctor could EASILY just go back in time & kill Rick when he's a baby. Time travel access would be a MAJOR advantage for him.
The Doctor doesn't even need to do that to win he could just erase Rick with the key to time or erase him from time by shooting him with the De-mat Gun.
Well the doctor dying if killed during regeneration is sorta.. outdated thanks to the timeless child since its confirmed the doctor is practically an immortal timelord from another world

I cannot wait. I think The Doctor wins thanks to the TARDIS. It's truly sentient and has a will of its own. Ricks' car has a pretty sophisticated AI that seems to be able to hack all data networks but it doesn't have control over time and space.

Yeah, there was also a Scooby-Doo vs. Courage the Cowardly Dog episode (same for a lot of Casts, actually, pretty sure that's at least partially where they go to see if a matchup's interesting enough to get on the show or not.

Im 100% behind The Doctor on this one. Rick is a 100% pure scientific badass.. but The Doctor has WAY more experience in EVERY catagory.
and The Dr is basically magic to, Time Lords literally have control of Physics to the point that they can change how they work on a whim, and often have.
I really hope they acknowledge the time when Peter capaldis doctor gets trapped in a time lordian prison stuck in a loop that lasts literal eons with the only way out being behind a 30 foot wall of pure diamond, that he PUNCHES WITH HIS BARE HANDS till a carves a way to the other side...... HE PUNCHED HIS WAY THROUGH A 30 FOOT THICK DIAMOND WALL FOR LITERAL EONS TO ESCAPE. Its a very complicated episode to explain and I barely do it any justice trying to explain it. Just find and watch the episode.
I hope you guys bring up the time he defeated the Memeovores, eldritch creatures that devour concept and meaning, and he had to go and "rewrite the narrative" in order to beat them.
Not just time, but the story itself bends to his will.

Out of all the different versions of The Doctor, my favorite has, and will always, be David Tennant, AKA, The 10th and 14th Doctor.
I am a bit of an Odd Ball, my Fav is the 9th Doctor
TECHNICALLY, because of the War Doctor, Tennant is really the 11th, 12th because he regenerated and stayed the same, and now the 16th Doctor.

I’ve grown up on this show and I know it can look cheesy but it’s genuinely some of the most fun and interesting writing you can get. Started with Christopher Eccleston (my favourite, so underrated) & David Tennant who made up my favourite era, but I really love the show in general

The Doctor is very underrated. His cosmology has large cardinals, a Type IV Tegmark, infinite-dimensional weapons, etc.
The Doctor is trained is Venusian akido as well. And lets not forget the sonic screwdriver. And faithful traveling vehicles, the TARDIS whom he named Sexy. The Doctor can also regenerate AT WILL if needed.
The Doctor has so many memories that she once overloaded the Matrix and broke it.
At one point the Doctot used the Arch Angel Network the Master created to coalesce over 6 billion humans pyshic energy into himself and rejuvenate from a tiny Doby sized old man and disable his laser screwdriver while floating.
Even if Rick attempted to clone himself via that dart thing withnthe Doctor, regeneration will purge it out.
He can also use psychic paper to fool others into thinking what he wants them to believe.
He can devise precise and horrible ways to punish others once his patience is out.
You never know when a multi Doctor event will happen and pull in the Reapers.
Don't forget the Doxtor can also use his Tardis to trap people in infinite loops within.
And lets not forget his enemies Master and Davros. They wont let anyone kill the Doctor but them.
The Doctor will run a persistent enemy through THE DEADLIEST FIRE IN THE UNIVERSE if necessary. The Daleks.
The Doctor could always just trick Rick into following him into the past and make him argue with past Rick, allowing the paradox to destroy one.
The Doctor can pull whatever he needs out of his pockets.
Remember that the Doctor has TWO hearts and can live with one shut down briefly. Hurts like hell but it happened twice.
Plus the TARDIS can use holograms and its internal timelines to mess with Rick as long as the Doctor needs. Sexy is sentient Remember.
If all else fails the Doctor can turn up the volume to 11 and blast Rick away like Mikey did to Shredder.
The Doctor can be killed by NUCLEAR regeneration. X Ray radiation is NOTHING to him.
The Doctor is a complicated time space event and thus has some resistance to being erased from existence. But not entirely. The time field WILL erase him eventually him.
The Doctor has a respirator bypass to allow temporary lack of breathing. And has really high blood pressure due to having two hearts.
Well, psychic paper is out, Rick is too smart for that one
They'll also probably leave out the Master and Davros for this fight.
There is other things to mention, the doctor could potentially hack Rick's cybernetic enhancements, Rick's ship pales in comparison to the Tardis (said car being powered by the microverse, so that's saying something)

I'm so looking forward to this fight. The Doctor has to be the annoying "goodie too shoes nerd" that Rick hates. Didn't he once say "I don't respect time travel? He never (almost) help others if it doesn't benefit him in some way. It usually being he's too lazy to find a new universe to move too or if it will bother his daily life down the line somehow. They're basically the total opposite of godly beings.
The dr isn't annoying like that tho

Another fact is that the time lords can only can regenerate 13th but the doctor surpass even his times of regeneration

I remember watching like two episodes of Doctor Who on Disney XD. I believe in one episode, The Doctor fell in love with the Queen of England and returned to his time just for a second to return to a butler saying she passed away. The Queen was in I think her early 20's great part of the episode.

Rick has the fire power to put him down permanently, but it just depends on whether he even has a chance at it. I don’t think it’s omnilander levels of unfair, since homelander had no possible win condition. Rick does have multiple win conditions here, I still think doctor wins 8/10 times tho

And here they even haven’t gotten to the Sonic Screwdriver yet. Even from this preview I can already tell The Doctor stomps Rick. I even already knew Rick was going to lose & this would be a stomp MU before this preview!
Ricks biggest advantage is the technology he can cook up, he’s even integrated some of it into his own body via cybernetic enhancements. That makes the Doctor’s various tools meant to interface and hack technology like the sonic screwdriver Rick’s kryptonite in this fight. And I would like to remind people that the sonic screwdriver is only the most basic tool the Doctor has in his arsenal.
If Death battle is actually giving the Doctor his entire arsenal, then the Doctor wins, because a good chunk of said arsenal is a hard counter to most of what we’ve seen from Rick.
Prepare for the massacre of Rick. There is no way he’s surviving this.
So its Bond vs Wick again a British guy whose show has been running for over a decade against a guy with like 6 hours worth of information.
If Death Battle remembers that this is a Battle to the Death, with morals and feelings against killing put aside, Rick is going to get stomped. All the times the Doctor has saved the universe, he's been holding back so that everyone wins.

It's very hit or miss. The writting took a nose dive during Capaldis run and it never really bounced back

I love the fact that the doctor is going to appear in death battle. Because taking into account the amount of people who watch Death Battle, I think that with this episode, a lot of people will start watching the series and that would be quite positive for the Doctor Who fandom. Even if the doctor misses something that I doubt will happen, he will still be grateful that it was included in an episode.
I think it would be fitting for Doctor to won by mercy. After him and Rick killing each other several times, he manages to make him look into the heart of Tardis (perhaps Rick himself blows lid up, trying to destroy the ship) and gives him his wish. For example, it could make him another person entirely, so he would be free of his intellect and all other Ricks connections, giving him opportunity to live simple and happy life with his family.
It would be in theme even for full out for blood Doctor to still give a chance to his enemy to live.

P.S. I hope you guys mention that the 11th Doctor was shot while regenerating and found a way to come back from that. So it is possible for a Time Lord to be killed that way, but death isn’t guaranteed.

I don’t watch Rick and Morty or Doctor Who at all, nor am I interested in either, but just based on what I’m seeing here, I’m rooting and betting on the Doctor
Longtime Doctor Who & Rick and Morty fan, and I can say with confidence you made the right call.
A few things that got skipped over here;
The Doctor has fallen from orbit and survived. Didn't even regenerate, just survived reentry without any particular tech on hand and damn near shrugged it off.
Reset the entire universe using a prison specifically designed to contain him. While still inside said prison.
Survived a 4.6 billion year death loop and punched through a 20ft wall of a crystal 20x harder than diamonds, chipping away at it piece by piece. Barehanded.
I don’t know anything about Dr. who and I was hoping that this would clear some stuff up but I’m even more confused. 😂

Okay, so I'm a bit torn on this one. On one hand, The Doctor can regenerate into a new body upon receiving a fatal blow. But on the other hand, if Rick manages to land a fatal blow DURING regeneration, then it's game over for the Time Lord. That's not counting all of the other hax both characters have on hand, so I'll have to wait just a little bit longer before I make a decision.

That would only kill 1 Doctor permanently. It's like a Thawn situation where you have to kill ALL OF THEM permanently. Even then, with the Doctor's mind reading, information downloading and telekenesis, getting to that point would be impossible for Rick.
I mean the doctor other selves from the timeline might just step in to continue the fight so

And I think that considering what's been said, it's nearly impossible to erase The Doctor temporally AND he's resisted mind control (if I'm not mistaken), so I would be willing to put my money down on the crazy British Time Lord, but I'm still gonna hold off on making any final bets before I see the full analyses.

Slight edge to the doctor, because Rick is used to fighting in multiverses where the smartest being is himself while the doctor could easily be fighting beings smarter or better than him. In other words his survival instincts are heightened by the fact he doesn't know until he figures it out, while Rick has made sure everyone he fights is dumber than himself.
The thing is the Doctor is Jack Sparrow smart at times which is why no one can out think him

Will be interesting to see how this goes, I've only seen doctors 9 through 12 (and only some of 12) so not as fully versed on what the doctor can do as some might be, but currently I'm having trouble imagining a win for the doctor, especially given that Rick is also already familiar with the existence of the doctor (he's made doctor who references before)
The weakness of being shot during a regeneration was only a stated weakness, and stated by an unreliable source at that. It's highly possible that when River said that, she was covering for the fact that if the Doctor didn't appear dead then the fixed point would rip the universe apart. It wasn't even a real regeneration.
Also the Doctor is able to psychically de-bloodlust his opponents, as demonstrated every time enemies who want to kill him on sight end up giving him time to talk
Yea, it's been confirmed that The Doctor can survive someone trying to kill him while regenerating. To the point The Doctor can just refuse to die through sheer will power.
Let's not forget The Doctor can cross his own time stream, so EVERY version of the Doctor should be able to fight simultaneously.
If we go with that logic every moment of the doctor should be able to fight

In fairness, a post asked in the Rick and morty subreddit and turns out most of them do not have that much faith in Rick
I mean when you look at the grand acheme the rick we follow is just one of the infinite curve, vs the doctor who is the one of a kind. This may just be a quantity vs quality issue.

I wonder if they'll bring up the EU lore about the Time Lords weaponizing their regeneration to morph into more combat-suitable forms upon death. Been trying to track down the source, but the references I've found include "the perfect soldier for any environment", "minor monsters from the Cthulhu Mythos", and "a sentient timeline".
I was talking to my self about this matchup and said this: I believe rick holds a versatility advantage unless if the doctor has the ability to just pull thing for out his ass. How did I guess this when I don't even know much about him.
