One new thing I noticed was that basedon his eye movements, Omni-man IMMEDIATELY saw Debbie's corpse, let Homelander finish monologuing, then gave one of the most blatant comebacks in history. He didn't kill Homelander immediately; he wanted to humiliate him and make him suffer first
And you can safely guess that Homelander 'had some fun' with Debbie before killing her. I don't mean sexual fun, though.

Nah, you're giving Homelander too much credit. Between two humans, no matter the disparity, there's always a chance the underdog could get lucky. With this fight, Homelander couldn't even hurt Nolan when he stood there and let the psychotic test tube baby have his best shot.

One thing I love about this fight is how well it sells Homelander is just NOT used to trading blows with someone who can legit harm him. He's in an unfamiliar situation where he's blatantly outgunned, and reacts with both panic and total disbelief (bordering on denial) towards what he's experiencing. And given this is Homelander, arguably the most hateable character ever seen on death battle... it's pretty cathartic to watch.

omni man was more understandable even with just season 1 invincible context if you read comics omni is sympathetic won't get specific tho cause spoilers meanwhile homelander is opposite in series he bully and in comics you find out that his model for a super hero was superman unfortunately vaught did an old company oops and didn't actually read comics giving him only golden age and silver age which if you read superman is more insisted by writers of the pure good he is in comics now but back then he had stories about purposefully unhooking loises life support in space cause he thought she cheated ( she didn't) this is a tame example but it was a. commentary on how Hollywood does stuff for comics it had other stuff to say in messaging but comics were more about comic stuff

It all ends with Nolan burying his wifes body and having to explain the terrible news to Mark while only keeping his own grief in check due to centuries of mental training he might of won but at what cost. 😔
Alternatively, in this reality he never fully realized how much Debbie actually means to him, and never will. Without Debbie, Mark also fully embraces the Vitrumite ways, and this incident jump-starts the Vitrumite invasion of Earth.

It wasn’t even a fight. It was a one sided prolonged execution.
Not completely one-sided, but yeah.
And we wouldn't have had it any other way. Nolan had redeeming qualities buried under the Viltrumite conditioning, John had none. To modify Wiz's closing thoughts, one is a disciplined warrior, the other is a flailing bully.
And it was only prolonged because this, for the sake of giving Homelander any sort of ability to fight back, assumed his scream was the right frequency to hurt Viltrumites's inner ear and disrupt their balance.
In a real scenario Nolan bloody bodies Homelander in a milisecond.

You could argue that Nolan started taking things seriously when Homelander started threatening Mark, but even then it took Nolan about as much effort as swatting a one winged mosquito to kill the bastard.
While Homelander is Top Dog in The Boys he’s a big fish in a small pond, relatively speaking anyway. That might sound good for Homelander at first but that means he has little (if any) experience at taking big hits. The only reason Homelander wins in his world is because he’s the most powerful and dangerous being on the planet. He may have had a slight edge in abilities compared to Omni-Man but he wasn’t powerful enough to capitalize on that edge. Nolan on the other hand has not only experience in taking hits but has been fighting for WAY longer, as he’s a trained bloodlust soldier. And that’s the big difference between these two: One is a warrior and the other is a bully.

They noted that intense sound and heat were vulnerabilities of Viltrumites, Homelander had both.
He effectively had Kryptonite yet still never had a chance.
Yes Heat can hurt Viltrumites, but is "lets go inside the sun" levels of heat. And the sound things is a very specific type of sound, not just loud souds

When it came to his son Mark, Omni-Man really wanted to "train" him in the Viltrumite ways, but for Homelander, he was trying to make his points "plane" & clear.

This is so well made
The animation shows that Homelander is so poorly trained he can't throw a proper punch even when fighting for his life... And that Omni-Man is so incredibly well trained and experienced that even holding back as much as he can his punches are the same as a professional boxer.
Just another amazing moment for Death Battle's animators.
Now that I think about it, he probably never really had to throw a punch before. Practically no one he came up against was even close to his strength so he woud've been able to get by on powers alone. Be suprising if he learned to actually fight at all.
@@umhi9778 It's pretty open to interpretation, but I've always seen the fight at the end of Season 3 as making the case that Homelander has always been weaker than Maeve. His bravado and publicity just meant neither of them ever realized it.
The show did well by making Homelander weaker. In the comics he's basically a physical god. In the show, he's incredibly dangerous, but theoretically, he could be stopped. It really helps highlight that Homelander is only a symptom of the problem that they're up against.
Still omni-man is soo much stronger. Im actually surprised he held off that long. The first punches he got i'd think it would've been over already.

His hand has the power to shatter mountains, but he can hold an egg without cracking it.
@@aenning Because Omni-man probably was holding back. He wanted to humiliate Homelander. It's only when Homelander threatened his son that he lost control, otherwise he may have let the fight drag on even longer.
This battle is so thematically fitting in terms of connections between both combatants, since not only are both of them darker and edgier deconstructions of Superman, but also contrast each other greatly in what makes them so dark and edgy in the first place; Omni-Man is soldier sent to conquer Earth for the militaristic empire of his people, the Viltrumites, while Homelander is actually a super serum experiment born and raised in the labs for the sole purpose of being the perfect pawn for the fraudulent schemes of a corrupt super-"hero" megacorporation. And that contrast here is what really shows in the outcome of this bloody battle.
I noticed 2 references in this battle. The first one is when they are fighting in the air omniman grabs homelanders head and puts it in front of a plane, and then homelander splits it in half with his laser eyes. This is a reference to when mark and omniman are fighting in Invincible when omniman puts marks head in front of a train spliting the train in half woth marks head. The second reference is at the end when omniman grabs homelanders jaw and rips if off. This is a reference to when homelander rips a lady's jaw off in anger in The Boys Presents Diabolical In the episode about homelander. These are pretty cool references which shows they really pay attention to details.
For the last time, Viltrumites are not weakened by screaming. It's a specific high-frequency sound. If everybody could just scream and produce that sound How would they have conquered so many planets with their victims screaming?

Yeah, its a specific frequency that staggers them, but others can have similar effects. Its like how Green Kryptonite is the only kind that can kill Superman, but other variants can incapacate him in different ways.
My absolute favorite thing about this fight was how quickly it became apparent to Omni Man that Homelander had never been in an actual fight in his life.

One of my favorite fights, and I didnt know ANYTHinng about either side before the episode.

Never would’ve I have thought a stomp would be this much fun. The set up for this fight is already easily one of the best in the entire show with the characterization for both being on point the entire time. Especially Homelander. While the fight is short, it still makes the most of what it can do with these two and the chaos is still a blast to watch, especially with the dual reference to both shows with the plane. Though I think they could’ve added a little more destruction to even more sell how these two are anti Sups, like Homelander helplessly trying to smash Omni Man into a building or him trying to use a citizen as a hostage until Nolan smashes his head. But even then, I’m happy with what we got. Not to even mention the voice acting with Tom Schalk and Yong Yea giving two of the best performances of the entire show, selling Nolan’s cold blooded warrior attitude and Homelander’s superiority complex spectacularly. The track is also an absolute banger despite having one of the most overly complicated names of any in the show. But that isn’t even going into the best part of the fight, The Death. It is absolute brutality which I expected coming from these two and it’s easily my second favorite death in the show. Overall, while I’m sad, Omni Man didn’t get to fight Bardock, I’m not disappointed with the product we ended up with. And even then, there is still a possibility of him coming back after Invincible has gone through its next few seasons.
The second time this was not uploaded during Christmas. Also this is absolutely how guys see themselves (as Omni-man obviously) in their heads fighting someone.
Oh look it's the most viewed hand-drawn fight of the episode! 13 Million Views, in fact! That is the same amount of people who just clicked on this video just to see Homelander die. And I am here for it.

This isn’t even a fight this is just a one sided annihilation. What Omni Man said at 0:50 after he took that deep breath is 100 times more terrifying than all that ranting and raving Homelander just did.
I'm glad amazon is doing a fantastic job keeping Omni-Man & Homelander intact.
