The Doctor is normally a pretty chill guy, but if you actually find a way to manage to piss him off, he will find all new definitions of eternal suffering to put you through. There have been ways to permanently kill a Time Lord. Like when the 11th Doctor was poisoned with a way to override his regeneration, or when Rasillion threatened to kill the 12th Doctor by shooting him to death "until all of his regenerations run out". The Doctor finds a way around it.

Douglas Adams was a writer for Doctor Who early in the show's seasons. Probably gave it that tone for a while.

Speaking as a big fan of both, The Doctor has better and more consistent feats. Rick has fought plenty of things on the level of The Doctor's foes, but the difference is that Rick often struggles or just loses when he gets to that level, whereas The Doctor almost always has the situation under control the whole time no matter what it is. The only real advantage Rick has is that he does actual fistfighting more often and The Doctor is unwilling to use guns of any kind, but I'm not sure that matters much here.

The Deterrent could make this one of the shortest DB episodes ever. 😆

@@princefreddo5044 The regeneration is an automatic process that happens when he receives fatal damage, and it essentially reboots his psyche as well as his body. It also causes him to explode while regenerating which can be used to protect himself during the process.

I imagine Rick's weaponry would be able to 2-shot The Doctor before he would be able to do anything, but that would not make for an exciting death battle. Once The Doctor makes it to the Tardis it's over for Rick.

@@FlourishPorridge The odds of Rick doing that are unlikely for a Death Battle though, especially considering how the doctor can prelong a regeneration if he needs to, or use the regeneration energy as a weapon.... but who knows, it'll be exciting to watch nonetheless

That'll be Rick's advantage. The Space Cruiser is equipped for a dog fight. Even though there have been TARDIS'es that have been equipped with weapons. The Doctor's TARDIS doesn't have any weapons. In fact, it had problems racing with an average car on the streets.

Rick has experience with time travel (even though the writers only ever used it once or twice to avoid confusing plot problems). He should be able to keep up in that field. Not to mention that even if The Doctor is immortal, Rick has plenty of ways to end the fight. I know the show is called “Death” Battle, but hey, this is Rick Sanchez. He’s cool with taking shortcuts and cutting corners. If he can’t kill The Doctor, he’ll probably settle for turning him into a pickle or something.

Problem isn't just that The Dr is Immortal, it's that he has mastery over time and space, is considerably more intelligent then Rick, who has been beaten even in his own verse by people smarter then him. Like this is a extremely lopsided fight in favor of The Dr@@rodrickgoldberg2324 I'm curious how they are going to play it out, as The Dr is one of the scariest things out there when you remove all limiters.

With how much they can do, makes sense to bring those up to later point out how the doctor has already been in these scenarios and stomped. Though honestly, they didn't have much choice. If they're including the 60 years of comics, dramas, books, etc, there aren't many feats you can give Rick that the Doctor hasn't specifically done before. Not many options, there's just so many thousands upon thousands of adventures the doctor's been on. And the few adventures The Doctor hasn't done weren't really from a lack of capability, more a lack of desire. But you get him mad enough, genocide and destruction on any scale are readily possible, even if he has to kill himself and come back as someone willing to get the job done.

It won't count since it takes months to do a Deathbattle. Probably up to Season 6, they'll count. I'm guessing for The Doctor, they'll use the 14th Doctor image-wise. I'm betting up to the 13th Doctor will be used. That'll be a problem for Rick thanks to a little thing called "The Timeless Child". (Basically, a continuity device introduced that The Doctor has infinite regenerations).

I dont think anything needs to be rewritten because the new episode doesnt reveal anything that would tip the odds in rick's favor, the omega device could probably kill the doctor but it seems pretty evident that rick cannot build it without prior prep time

@@Vapor817 I mean technically Rick and can go pretty much anywhere in the multiverse with his portal gun so in theory he could try stealing back the Omega device from Evil Morty if there was no other way but I doubt they'll go in that direction.
Though I was talking more backstory wise in terms of explaining the character. Because if they are focusing on C-137 that would include his origin story and goals so it would be wierd having it end with "Rick is still out for revenge on his prime self" when we just saw him get that.

The Doctor built a fully functional TARDIS in mere hours out of scrap, too - in a place where no TARDIS should even be functional, since it was _outside of the universe._
And that's not getting into the time the Doctor beat the actual, real devil, an ancient god that embodied evil in every religion across the universe. _all of them._
And let's not get into the past clashes with the Daleks - which themselves are an immensely powerful race, capable of building technology that can erase _all_ realities simultaneously.
The Doctor drove that race to near-extinction with a single act to end a war that'd already seen entire planets blinked out of existence in seconds. The Time Lords, an immensely powerful race in their own right due to their Regenerative capabilities, access to time travel so perfect that dead soldiers could be seamlessly pulled from the moments of their deaths and sent back into combat, and weapons capable of blinking whole worlds out of existence all but _lost_ a war spanning the entire universe, from beginning to end, to the Daleks.
A war The Doctor singlehandedly ended with one move that drove the Daleks fo near extinction.
Even when the Daleks engineered a _perfect_ plan to erase everything but themselves - developed a weapon capable of ending not just one universe, but all of them - with such a powerful detonation that stars could be seen going out as a direct result of it _before the weapon was even used._
27 planets ripped from time and space and placed in one corner of the universe, acting as nothing but fuel for this weapon that'd erase all realities and leave nothing but them.

In regards to feats, The Doctor outshines Rick in a lot of areas.

The Doctor is just too strong for Rick and smarter.

Good point. That means the Doctor should win, easily. It's not because of his supernatural abilities on top of his tech. It's because his weapon of choice is superbly effective against Rick: talking. Rick and all his emotional issues is vulnerable to the Doctor's deadly gift of gab.

Really all depends on how much of the media they include. If the doctor gets all 60 years of comics, radio dramas, books, etc the he really does have a counter to everything rick can do, things really pile up over the decades.

A few more advantages Rick has over the Doctor is his obscene pain tolerance, his ability to recover from wounds that would force the Doctor to regenerate, his ability to repair damage to himself on the fly, and the massive advantage his Cybernetics give him in terms of strength and speed.
Might not be enough with that Sonic Screwdriver potentially messing with Ricks tech but it's certainly worth mentioning.

The Doctor could win with just two uses of the Sonic screwdriver.
First one to just scan Rick.
Second one to disable all of his cybernetics. Immediately, that totally cripples Rick - both arms and legs immediately become useless, he's blinded in his left eye, and that's a generous estimate.
It's entirely possible that his organs would all just shut down, too.

Considering what the Doctor has done, I'd say sonic scrambling of your molecules is something Rick would rather deal with than whatever it is the Doctor has done to several beings.
Considering that Running away, wiping his own memory and living a new boringish life was his definition of "kind" towards a family of life draining aliens that were mercilessly hunting him down, I'd say that if Rick had ever been called a demon before, he'd be wise to run when a good man goes to war.
Plus, some incarnations of the Doctor were more adapted to combat than others, so if they bring in his various regenerations, the like of the 3rd and War Doctors probably would be so hesitant to deliver a killing blow. And that's not even mentioning whatever kind of people the doctor would be collecting debts from.

Fantastic doesn't have a chance. He's possibly on par in terms of smarts, but Mr fantastic never seems to be prepared for anything other than the usual villians he fights. He's not one to pull out random gadgets. Just use his body powers and smarts to outsmart his opponents.

@@Tsuusetsu Sure, but Death Battle's #1 rule is that fighters will be at their realistic peaks, meaning that if Mr. Fantastic was in a Death Battle, they'd probably stage the fight at the Baxter Building and have all the gadgets he's used over the years within arm's reach. Who knows, they might even allow him to use the Infinity Gauntlet since the founding members of the Interdimensional Council of Reeds all have a gauntlet.
TLDR: He might not have his gadgets on him, yes, but Death Battle wouldn't exclude them all.

Or the time he killed the supervillain World-Ender and his army while completely blackout drunk. Or in his most recent episode when he defeated Rick Prime, whose whole point is that he's virtually impossible to find/kill.

Time lords can travel to different dimensions too although it is not explored much. The doctor has defeated 4 th dimensional beings capable of devouring infinite number of multiverses. The 8th doctor in comics took in the power of the Tardis and rewrote the entire history of the universe. He might have killed the devil. With the changes and retcon brought by the timeless child he no longer dies since he is the source of regeneration not just some time lord who copied an inferior version. The Tardis can project a sheild on the doctor that Rick shouldnt be able to get through.
