Even for Hilary Hahn - the most captivating violinist alive today - and a concerto that has been performed many, MANY thousands of times, she truly outdoes herself here. This is the most elegant, breathtaking Beethoven Concerto I have ever heard; the fluency with which she is able to let the solo line unspool, uninterrupted through numerous moods and technical hurdles with absolute control amounts to something profoundly transcendent.

It was TwoSet who introduced him to me, along with Hilary Hahn!😍 I love her playing and someday, soon, I hope, I would love to see her play live (along with a TwoSet tour). I really always have been into classical music, but during quarantine I really discovered how much I love it. And now my sisters get sooooo annoyed when I blast it to full volume while doing school or washing dishes, or while I’m doing some projects/crafts. It’s now the reason why I picked up my violin again during this pandemic. I hope to be able to play in an orchestra when this whole thing comes to an end.

Not to take away anything from Hilary. She has certainly set the bar high. But yes, there are some violinists who are arguably just as good if not better. Hard to believe, but they are out there. One of them is Mr. Augutin Hadelich. At this level there really is no need to make comparisons. Both Hilary and Augustin are stratesphically talented. And where Hillary's perfection is always on display (you simply can't NOT hear that every note is pitch perfect) Augustin's gift is that, yes, indeed, every note is hyper pitch-perfect, but you never notice that. You're move swept away by his music making. He also plays more in the old style of violin playing. It's quite ironic that Hilary was trained by one of the great violin gurus, Yasha Brodsky, yet she plays with none of the schmaltz of the violinists of that generation. I suppose that's part of her appeal. But for those who yearn for the violin that had that gypsy flair, and if you're looking for a violinist who isn't ashamed to add the schmaltz, try Augustin Hadelich. Note for note, Augustin is every bit as good as Hilary, and arguably, his phrasing, for me, is more interesting, more shade, nuanced, more colors in the SOUND - his playing is literally sublime. Listen to him play this very concerto, and you'll see what I mean. But there are always "better" violinists. But it really doesn't matter, Hilary has left her mark on the profession.

It is not their fault not to know Mozart or Beethoven, but to know Kim Kardashian, it's the current media pushing their content to the highest bidder. You can't find the value of anything just because how many people listening to, drinking or wearing items etc, it only shows how powerful the marketing behind these items are, and unfortunately no one wants to push classical music anymore, no money in it.

Hillary gets the same remarkably uniform clarity of tone and spot-on consistency of intonation across the entire range of the Violin that the best Piano/tuner-technician provides. On top of that she finds and conveys every conceivable nuance and detail of phrasing that a composer can hope someone playing their work might uncover and relate. She has incredible solidity of technique but still allows to music to be the star of the performance rather than herself. She's wonderfully respectful of the music in that regard, and dedicates her virtuousity to the art rather than to herself, which I find betokens a humility and generosity that's often rare.

Honestly, so much here is beyond perfect. It's magical. The orchestra, which is so important in this concerto, is fabulous. The sound is absolutely exquisite, and the first few bars, you think you could listen to it like a symphony on its own. And then Hilary comes in, and what an entry. Everything, from the very first time she does vibrato to the shifts, string crossings, and trills, is magic. Not to mention how absolutely gorgeous Hilary herself is, in her absolutely stunning concert gown that looks like a painting. I'm not somebody who actively seeks out Beethoven, but this concerto is an exception. I mostly listen to Bach, Mozart, and then all of the Romantic composers. But Hilary playing this is just a force of nature. I don't know how anyone tops this, even Hilary herself. I can't even imagine what it was like for the audience, being there and being clocked in the face with this. Then getting to meet Hilary afterwards. I would have just gone up to her and gone "How? Just tell me you're a demigod before I throw myself off a cliff, because I don't think any sound will ever sound sweet to me after this experience."

Beethoven composed his only violin concerto for his friend F. Clement, who was an Austrian violinist, pianist, conductor. Clement had earlier given him helpful advice on his opera Fidelio. The work was premiered on 23 December 1806 in Vienna. However, the premiere was not successful and in the following years the concert did not receive much attention. The work was revived in 1844 by the then 12-year-old Hungarian violinist J. Joachim with the orchestra of the London Philharmonic Society. The work was conducted by Felix Mendelssohn (a German composer). Since then this Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61 has become one of the best-known violin concertos. Some works had a very thorny path to the audience, e.g. also the grand Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1. Beethoven wrote the violin concerto specially for the event, and quickly, it seems. The composer then spent part of the summer in a country house of his Hungarian aristocratic friends the Brunsvik family, enjoying the company of their two delightful elder daughters, Therese and Josephine. - Beethoven himself became famous mainly as a piano master. He also visited the Czech lands several times. (I'm CZ 🙂)

Woke up this morning to my normal sleep music playing still on my phone. This video was in the recommended. I clicked on it and I am 40 minutes into it and it has filled my soul with life again. I miss having a passion for something so strong like she does. I truly miss playing the violin🎻 from this day forward I vow to pick up a violin as soon as possible and begin classes again. I miss the love and the love of life itself that comes with true music. The passion and utter perfection in putting your heart into your instrument in front of a crowd of not only live people and millions on youtube helps spread love and life throughout the world and there is no better way to exist in this time and space we thrive in. Good morning and Bless everyone.

I've listened to a number of performances of this concerto and I think Hilary's rendition of the Kreisler cadenza is the most exciting of all. Her entire performance is great and this and Daniel Lozakovich's are my favorites.

- "Lieblingstiere?" - "Was halten Sie von Bach?"

+Georges Cancan You need to have yourself checked up by a good psychiatrist. Under each and every video of a young, attractive female musician you make it clear that the only thing you can see when you look at them is their bodies. As a "prude, conservative Christian", who I am told to be, I find it astonishing how you can be so obsessed with the looks and ONLY the looks of them; the way you are ABSOLUTELY unable to see - or hear - beyond Yuja Wang's extravagant dresses, or Hilary Hahn's cleavage. I think it's okay for young, attractive people, males and females, to take pride in their attractive appearence. If you are not able to handle it (most probably because you are an untalented, unattractive, unaccomplished pile of miserability, unlike them), get lost from here and keep crying in your mom's basement.

"Show your beauty and show your talent"? No: Show your talent. Let the beauty of the MUSIC shine without cheapening it by wearing scant clothing. Music is pure. Don't compromise it by combining it with the banality of exposed flesh. There are other venues one can visit to view such things, and they certainly don't include concert halls. I don't see male concert pianists(violinists) performing shirtless and in tight pants!

"McDonalld's" culture!!! "Popcorn" violinist! MeToo?! THE GUARDIAN James Rhodes Tuesday 4 February 2014 ... "Good looks have long helped to compensate for a lack of talent across the entire music industry. But the sexualised marketing of young women, particularly, in classical music has also now become normalised. Witness (the undoubtedly hugely talented) Yuja Wang's barefoot performances complete with interval dress changes, see the hundreds of PR shots of the kind that keep teenage boys locked in their bedrooms for everyone from Hélène Grimaud to Alison Balsom. Some album cover portraits for female artists could double as escort agency profile pics. Publicity for young male artists is increasingly sexualised too, but not to anything like the same degree."...
