Mad props to Billie and Finneas for making 3 real good songs that I currently can't get out of my head, like right after the amazing Encanto songs. Loved this movie, I've watched this almost 4 times and counting already. I mean it's hard not to, this movie was really relatable, fun to watch, the creativity and the animation in my opinion was really good too! Can't wait for the next one!

It's cool that this movie's set in 2002. I know the director Domee Shi's taking inspiration from her own experiences in Toronto, but it also makes the movie timeless. Modern enough for audiences to recognise, but without our current social media mucking up the plot (and any modern pop-culture references). Most probably, 4-Town is actually just them combining O-Town and B4-4 who were from Toronto and only had 3 members but had a 4 in the name confusing people. Story-wise also, 4Town was a perfect name for the boy band. It's a symbol of everything Mei's mother seem to stand against, emphasised by having the most unlucky Chinese number in its name. In China, '4' is no joke; there's some buildings in Hong Kong where they don't even have a '4' button in the elevator.
I was born in 92 so I was only 10 years old when 2002 was happening but I still vivdly remember most of my friends, the grown-ups around me, and of course myself talking about O-Town and B4-4's hits alongside whatever music was relevant at the time. Also, the fact that Mei-Mei lives in what is basically an amalgum of Downtown Chinatown (College St and Spadina Ave) and Chinatown East (Gerrard St East between Broadview Avenue) hits so close to home for me because I grew up in a neightbourhood near Wellesly St and Sherbourne St which was prodominently Asian/South East Asian so going to these places for lunch/dinner, groceries, baked goods, haircuts was a regular thing for me and my family. As you can tell, I'm a born and raised Torontonian so seeing all these things and my beautiful city represented to accurately and beautifully made my heart sing (specifically this song). So major s/o to Domee Shi for truly representing Toronto on the big screen and also s/o to Tyler despite being a jerk to Mei-Mei and the girls; repped Vince Carter's #15 jersey in the movie (my all-time favourite Toronto Raptors player)
Love this movie it's so beautiful, inspiring, emotional, cute, fun, positive, gives very importaint lifeleassons, shows that family will always be there for you no matter what you go through and that you're friends will always be there for you when you need it like these girls do. The love the family and the girls have for Mei is absoulutly beautiful and shows in many parts even at start of the movie. This song is perfect and the singers are absoulutly amazing❤❤❤
Love how this song encapsulates early 2000s culture in general. There was a bit of 90s flavor still caried over at this point and it shows. Also nice to see a movie that shows some early 2000s nostalgia unlike every 80s and 70s nostalgia piece being churned out these days.
Of all the other Pixar's movies, Turning Red is the one I feel related the most! I'm Asian and was a 90s kid, grew up fangirling to Westlife, Backstreet Boys, and NSync. I see my childhood in Mei Mei. Thanks Pixar for giving me a chance to revisit my childhood ♥️

This movie is so relatable and I love how Mei relates to a lot of girls in the comments. But I don’t see any about Tyler. I associated with him the most because I was exactly like that as a little boy. Bullying the other girls because I really didn’t have any friends and just wanted to be accepted. I was immediately drawn to his character and I’m glad that he became friends with the girls at the end. I love this movie

This song is one of the many things I like about this movie, They did a great job on making a realistic film (minus the ability to turn into a red panda) about a 13 year old girl and her struggles and problems.
I'm just now hearing the bad comments and reviews parents are giving this movie and I'm stunned. I felt like this movie was relatable and completely unexpected. I think the current consensus of movie fans is that they’ll only go to a theater if it’s an “event” tier film. Everything else can be streamed. I think that’s reasonable cuz the process of going to a theater for most new movies can be taxing. I say this as someone who loved Turning Red, as I streamed from my phone.

As a Cantonese who grew up in Toronto, this movie really brought tears to my eyes, reminds me of my childhood and the challenges my parents went through settling in Toronto as immigrants around the same time this movie takes place which is prob early 2000s.

This movie is so relatable and I love how Mei relates to a lot of girls in the comments. But I don’t see any about Tyler. I associated with him the most because I was exactly like that as a little boy. Bullying the other girls because I really didn’t have any friends and just wanted to be accepted. I was immediately drawn to his character and I’m glad that he became friends with the girls at the end. I love this movie

This song is one of the many things I like about this movie, They did a great job on making a realistic film (minus the ability to turn into a red panda) about a 13 year old girl and her struggles and problems.

I'm just now hearing the bad comments and reviews parents are giving this movie and I'm stunned. I felt like this movie was relatable and completely unexpected. It was a good watch and I loved watching the animation and reliving the boy band phase we all had when we were younger 😂. This movie teaches kids about the love of family, friends, and yourself. I don't see how that's an issue?

I think the current consensus of movie fans is that they’ll only go to a theater if it’s an “event” tier film. Everything else can be streamed. I think that’s reasonable cuz the process of going to a theater for most new movies can be taxing. I say this as someone who loved Turning Red, as I streamed from my phone.

As a Cantonese who grew up in Toronto, this movie really brought tears to my eyes, reminds me of my childhood and the challenges my parents went through settling in Toronto as immigrants around the same time this movie takes place which is prob early 2000s.
