  • In this video, I walk through the steps to replace a low beam headlight bulb on a 2006 Mercedes E350 W211. This does NOT apply to xenon lights.
    I am using the following replacement bulbs:
    SYLVANIA H7XV.BP2 XtraVision Halogen Headlight Bulb, (Contains 2 Bulbs)
    This should be applicable for the following model years: 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009

    Hey, great video and thanks for taking the time to put it together. It sure helped me change the bulbs in my E350. In case it helps anyone else, I learned that you can just pull the bulb out of the connector, leaving that intermediate metal piece intact on the black plastic connector. No need to pull those two metal wings apart to remove it and then reattach it. Cheers.

    I'd bend the hell of that metal peace behind the bulb.

    For this matter, this is the best video showing how to do it. One thing needs to be mentioned. When you pull out the coolant tank at the bottom of the tank there are 2 rubber anchors laying on top of the 2 fitting holes. Don't loose them or when you put the tank back, it's going to wobble and making funky sounds when the car is moving. Thank you for the video, DYGGuy.

    Well done, thank you! BTW, don’t lose the clip - I did and it is $19 from Benz ( found it under the bench later)

    Great video.... shows the most detail. I did not remove the metal clip, just pulled the bulb out of the socket. I plugged the new bulb back in and then had a hell of time trying to install the light and plug back into the receptacle socket. I finally figured I had plugged the bulb in wrong. I took out the bulb, flipped it 180 degrees and then the whole assy just screwed right into the receptacle in the headlight housing. So heads up... the two prong plug on the bulb can be plugged in either way, however it has to be certain way otherwise you can't mount the bulb assy in the headlight.

      I was going to say the same thing!!! Thanks!
      Thought I was the only one having a hard time with trying to plug the bulb into the receptacle. Took me a good amount of time until I figured out to try to unplug it, flit the prongs around and back into the receptacle. Also, if you haven't changed the bulb in a long time, then it will take you time to unplug it from the receptacle because it will be stuck due to accumulation of grime and heat/cold. Just twist it back and forth a lot.
      Most videos do not show that and that is when you waste the most time.

      Shouldn’t you “ops check” before you reinstall the cover and coolant tank? Hate to have to go back in for something simple.

    Hi, does this particular car have the ABS? My w211 has it, and I was told the bumper needs to be removed in order to change headlight?

    • @DIYGuyUSA

      Yes, it has ABS but I did not need to remove the bumper.

      @@DIYGuyUSA Ah gotcha, thanks! I can't seem to remove the metal tabs counterclockwise on the passenger side :/ Any ideas why or do u have a video on removing that side?

    • @DIYGuyUSA
      @DIYGuyUSA  4 년 전

      Adnan Ali - I don’t have a separate video as each side worked the same. It is hard to see but you may be able to use a mirror along with the flashlight to figure out what is keeping it from turning. Make sure you pry the sides out first.

      Mine were replaced after about 11-12 years, so yours may need to be replaced. It is possible that one of the connections to the bulb is loose or not getting a good current. After replacing bulbs (which are inexpensive), spray "electrical connector cleaner" in wired connection to help remove corrosion.

    So on my Infinity it takes 15 seconds to swap The headlights. No German car for me ever again... I do enjoy driving them but they are too complicated to work on

    • @dashtenblaise3115
      @dashtenblaise3115 4 년 전

      They’re purposely made difficult to work on so the normal car owner is forced to keep the car serviced at the dealership.

      It is really not too hard and you don’t need too many tools. You need good lighting and make sure you understand how to get the clip off and on.
