I actually emailed the ordinary a couple years ago and described my skin and sent a photo of my horrible acne. They emailed me back a custom regimen. I ordered everything and my acne that I had been struggling with for tens years almost disappeared in a month.
I know this is a really late reply but can you tell me what they recommended?

Omg that’s wonderful. I like them a lot. I’m so glad it helped you.
I have been using The Ordinary products for 3 years now and my skin has never looked or felt better ❤️
@Royal Haroon Hi! My best advice is to understand the mechanism behind acne, and focus on eliminating different parts of this mechanism. You need a couple of things to create acne, and sometimes these things happen because of genetics, hormones, puberty, skincare habits etc. Whatever the cause is: try to not stress about it, and teach yourself how acne is formed and how to eliminate some of these parts, so it will be harder for your skin to have acne. What worked for me (33 years old and have had acne for a longgggg time): benzoyl peroxide to kill P. Acnes bacteria. But don’t leave it on overnight because that will cause irritation!! Get a 5% facewash or gel and leave that in your face for 2 minutes in the morning and then wash off. That will kill the bacteria that is essential in forming acne. BP does not have to be expensive. You can try niacinamide which might help with oil production, but that did nothing for me. You can use salicylic acid to clear the pores of oil, but that was always a bit too irritating for me. Instead: glycolic acid works great for me! That helps with clearing the pores a bit as well, as well as exfoliating the dead skin cells and keratin plugs which all helps with keeping pores cleared. So you want to mainly tackle bacteria and build up of oil/dead skin, if you find products that help you with that - that you like - you will be doing a great job already! Remind yourself that you can’t do more than you can, and what is left beyond that is just what it is. Gut health and diet might be important too, but so is not stressing too much, so just try to stay interested in learning about skin and health, and understanding that you can only do your best! You are wonderful the way you are, it’s okay to want to grow and make the best of things and yourself, but don’t forget to breathe and love yourself :).
Ps. A mild basic facewash and (SPF) moisturizer is also important, so that you can clean your face without drying it out and moisturize without clogging pores. I personally really love Cerave foaming facewash and Cerave Pm facial moisturizing lotion. I didn’t like The Ordinary moisturizer, but I do love their glycolic acid toner, lactid acid serum and the red peeling solution. You will definitely get glowing skin from these! Paula’s choice SPF products are great for me but a bit more pricey.
I would love if you guys talked about your favorite in office treatments like Microneedling, Hydrafacial, lasers, etc!
Yes!!!
Sameeeee!

Yes please! I don’t have a lot of extra money. What procedures would give my dry dull textured skin the most bang for the buck so to speak? 😁
Go watch Penny Smith videos on those.
I want to subscribe 5 million times for this quote alone “cellulite is normal”. God bless you guys!
Dr Axe has a great video on natural treatments/solutions
🤣🤣🤣
It's normal, but I still HATE having it.
Istg we need to normalize things that are normal
Their Lactic Acid is seriously a holy grail. I always pair it with The Ordinary's "The Buffet", and it literally transforms my skin texture in real time. Amazing products for the price.
Can you describe the texture you had before and how it changed? I have some texture to my skin and am trying to figure out how to get rid of it. So happy this worked for you!
Wow
@@CherrieWells my skin is a combination between oily (T-zone) and dry. I can’t describe it well other than rough, almost bumpy. Make sure it isn’t too irritating to your skin, but I found pairing it with something super moisturizing to balance its effects. Also, sorry for just now seeing this. Hope it’s not too late and you have it a shot already!

I’m so happy I found this channel. I don’t watch any skin care/derm videos because it’s hard to trust what you see. Doctorly has changed that for me and I’m loving your content! Can’t wait for your next upload.
Thank you for your trust ☺️ that’s literally the most meaningful thing to us - Shah
Literally feel the same way! Only trust Doctorly
Same I just found them and I’ve been binging on their videos.
A You Tube Video, Pampered Wolf, has videos on The Ordinary and the application process. She mainly does cosmetics so look for the ones on The Ordinary. She is a huge fan and really explains the procedure and it’s job. She’s the one I found and fell in love with The Ordinary. I used it for about 10 yrs. Miraculous.
And they’re not bad to look at 😉😊
Please make a video on dark underarms.
1. Why people get dark underarms.
2. Which hair removal method should be followed for preventing dark underarms.
3. Treatments and product recommendations for dark underarms.
I had my underarm hair lasered off. I love it!
Hey guys. Fellow doc over here. But from another country.
Just wanted to point out, that these “higher” prices for medical grade acids (and your comments about it being expensive because of research and pharmaceutical monopoly)… are only that high in your country (and maybe a few others).
Take for example Insulin. You can buy it for 7 bucks in my city. I’ve heard it can cost 300 USD or more in the Us. That’s not the price of research. That’s the price of pharmaceutical companies abuse.
So, 🙌🏻 for The Ordinary and you, for teaching people about their options!!
This is my favorite line because I don't feel like I'm paying for the packaging and you always get so much more!
Can you make a video about hyperpigmentation and dark spots (not only spots from acne)

YESS. Dark spots please!! We can’t get hydroquinone in the states.

The Ordinary's Most Under-rated Products:
1. Buffet and Buffet & Copper Peptides
2. Amino Acids + B5 serum
3. Marine Hyaluronics (Algae extracts)
4. Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%
5. Alpha Arbutin 2% + Hyaluronic Acid
6. Mandelic Acid 10% + Hyaluronic Acid
These are so so good but always get overlooked by reviewers!
This would be a good review video

I'm obsessed with you guys! Thank you so much for finding a niche that needed you!! Please keep making content.
Man, I'm so happy I found you guys, I'm learning so much and you're so much fun to watch, keep up the good work 🤗🤗
Thank you so much for really breaking down what the ingredients do & how they work! I love your videos/ talks on the ordinary products. I am beginning a skin care routine and cant stop watching your videos! Thank you again 💜🙌
I'm 72, and I wish I could post a pic of me after three years of The Ordinary, particularly Buffet with Copper, Niacinamide, and Rx Tretinoin. Weekly, use of the AHA/BHA , Salicylic masque, and Flavanone mud. Love them!
I LOVE THE RESPECT YOU HAVE FOR EACH OTHER , ITS AMAZING
I love love looooove your videos. They provide the perfect mix of science based info on skincare and humour. I'm literally always smiling when watching you two.
I can’t emphasize how much I’m benefiting from these videos, the way you present is so easy and clear and now I understand these ingredients more and know what to get for my skin, so thank you so much 😊
I love how passionate you guys are about skin care and love your videos 🤍
I just found you guys and find you highly informative and genuine. Thank you. I will be looking into the ordinary brand. I have heard many people speaking of this brand
I love how knowledgeable these guys are!
I Always look forward to new videos 😁
I never thought I could learn and laugh so much with videos until I found you two. Thanks for everything!
The editing in this video is 🙌🏽 can you guys please talk about waiting time between skincare steps?
I loved your chat on the studies and the pharmaceutical companies. This is such an important topic!
Literally living for this video! I've heard amazing things about the Ordinary brand and better that they're affordable skincare for everybody! 👌🏻
I absolutely love The Ordinary! This stuff is so good ❤🙏
Thank you for posting this video. I just purchased some products from the ordinary specifically because the ingredients are so clearly marked so I know exactly which skincare goals I am treating, but I wasn’t sure which products were more hype vs. actual results, so thank you!
I have hooked on The Ordinary products for almost 2 years and I love this review 😍
Hey Dr Shah and Dr Maxwell, thank you for the cool, comprehensive and educational videos, I love them and find them incredibly helpful. 🙌🏼 I love The Ordinary and have been using their products for the last 2 years. I have am and pm routines with many of the products you mentioned. My skincare has started to evolve more recently and I’ve introduced products from Face Theory and Dermatica, with ingredients not available from The Ordinary. Would you please consider doing a product review video on either Face Theory and Dermatica? Would love it if you could. Best wishes from across the pond in London, UK.
Let us all talk about informative these videos and also fun to watch at the same time and the effort they put in together admire you both a lot !❤️
The Niacinamide is the ONLY product that has been effective at diminishing the pigment spots on my hand and face. It's a slow process, but persistence is key!
Same here ❤
How long did it take? I always wonder if it will lighted the area AROUND my dark spots which I clearly don't want...
@Nona Shibusa still a work in progress! I started with The Ordinary which has 10% niacinamide but now progressed to the 20% from Paula's Choice. I think it could take a whole year, as mine have been with me for many years and are particularly stubborn on the sides of my face and back of my hands. . I also noticed they started fading when I took collagen.
@@jtidema please read my reply.
For me the Niacinamide serum from The ordinary didn’t really worked on my hyperpigmentation from acne scar, but the Axis-y dark spot correcting glow serum (which contains niacinamide) worked really well in just 2-3 months
Love your video - Very informative but in a clear and simple way to understand
Perfect timing for this video for me as I just purchased several products from The Ordinary - retinol, glycolic toner, niacinamide, lactic acid, and hyaluronic acid. So far have been really liking them but also want the pro advice because their lineup can be a bit daunting with so, so many options. The pricepoint is INSANE when you can get a complete skincare regimen with all the bells and whistles for less than the price of many drugstore brand individual products. As others have chimed in, I’m all for you guys doing more reviews for this brand. I’m a huge lactic acid fan after years of youthful trauma from that damn apricot scrub (*groan*) and the L.A. Is so much more gentle and effective. Great video again guys!
I look forward to these videos so much and I think my skin has improved so much thanks 😊. Could you do a video about what people with dark skin should do differently in their routines ? Thank you !
I really appreciate this video because I just got the lactic acid a week ago and I couldn’t figure out when to use it or what to mix it with or how to use it and I didn’t realize I could just use it once or twice a week. This video really helps a lot thanks!
Love all your videos, I understand my skin needs so much better because of you guys ❤️❤️

Great explanation of the products, thank you! I'd love if you guys did a whole video on green tea.
Awesome video! Really enjoy your videos and have SO MUCH better understanding of my own skin! Thank you!!!!
Great job guys. I didnt know much about skincare but now feel well informed.
Would also love if you made a video demonstrating your own skin routines 😊
I loved the commentary on cost of research, profit-making pharmaceutical companies and other smaller companies that try to make use of the research to create their own product ranges with different pricing and efficacy. As a consumer, we tend to ignore such details that are definitely noteworthy.
Thank you for putting the video together. Super helpful!

Great job both of you ! Love the chemistry between you and intelligent sense of humour 👌 spot on , Love from UK 🇬🇧

Love Dr. Maxfield’s confidence in this video and Dr. Shah’s story time! Can you please make a video on a summer skincare routine? Keep these awesome videos going!

Thank you guys soooo much for your humble knowledge and your love for helping people and at that people of all tax brackets! Bless you guys and keep up the good work! We love you!!!
Generous & so very helpful! Thank you, Docs:)
The only products I now use are from the Ordinary. I use the Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Oil, Niacinamide, Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution. And twice a week I use the AHA/BHA Peel and I gotta say my skin has NEVER looked better. These products are absolute miracle workers and I’m so glad I finally discovered them for myself. I will NEVER use anything else. And the best thing is that you don’t need to use a lot from each of these products so they last a good while. I use my Niacinamide once a day and I’ve had it for almost 2 months!!! It’s amazing how far a lil amount truly goes a long way with these serums. 2-3 drops max is all you need from each serum.
Thank you for emphasizing that cellulite is totally normal. I love your channel ❤️

I recently discovered your channel and I love it. Thank you for giving fair and evidence based opinions of skin care products! I live for evidence based and the "why". Can you give a review on any Goop beauty products?
I always admired your opinions.
I just want to say that because of you wonderful guys, I added azelaic acid into my skincare routine. My skin tends on the dry side. I get annoying hormonal acne in my chin area. Sometimes it looks like I have a red beard. Even when I don't have a breakout, the area is marred by hyperpigmentation. Aannnndd I'm pregnant. So no retinoids or salicylic acid. :( Adding azelaic acid, which I got from The Ordinary due to affordability and I really wanted *this* particular ingredient, has helped tremendously with the acne which has all but disappeared and the hyperpigmentation. THANK YOU for talking about azelaic acid, and thanks for featuring this product, because it really is affordable.
I honestly can’t say how much I love your videos ❤️❤️✨ I’ve been looking forward on probably studying to be an Esthetician but.. seeing you guys makes me want to go further and maybe be a dermatologist in the future 🤷🏻♀️😂. Love your honesty and knowledge, keep it going don’t change and thank you for taking your time to make these videos 🙌🏼 @Doctorly

Great info, thanks! Just heard about The Ordinary when I was looking for plastic free packaging for squalane. Would love to see a video about your recommended "zero waste"/plastic free packaging skin care products!
I am so blessed to have found your channel! I have been struggling with acne from the age of about 25, fast forward a few years and I’ve been at a loss. I’m just re starting my skincare routine now I have a better understanding on what I’m doing thanks to you guys! Wish me luck!!
Good luck
For what it's worth, I stopped eating Gluten and my acne went away.
I need the Vitamin C video. Other than tretinion, it’s sort of one of the corner stones of my skin routine and I’m worried that I’m wasting my time.
Thank you DOCTORLY!! LEARNING SO MUCH🙂👍
So happy to realize I use these products you recommend in my routine.
I just found out I have high levels of 5-alpha-reductase in my blood and it shows on my skin. I started treating these areas every night with Differin (a retinoid) (or The Ordinary's Retinol 2% in Squalane) or The Ordinary's Mandelic Acid alternating. Then, I put on The Ordinary's Alpha Arbutin + Vit. C serum and the Azelaic Acid Suspension. Additionally, I derma roll every 2 weeks and use the Salicylic Acid 2% Masque once a week. I also put zink oxide cream on breakouts and use SPF during the day and heavily moisturize with hyaluronic body lotion day and night.
And holy moly has the appearance of my skin improved when it comes to overall underlying redness and pigmentation since using the Azelaic Acid!
However, I will switch back to using The Ordinary's Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate in Vit. F and the Alpha Arbutin separately, because the smell of the combined product is not so nice (even my husband commented on it as I use it on my arms) and the Vit. C colours skin and stains textiles a bit orangey (so I suppose, it's already oxidized or at least not stable).
I’d love to see a video on a safe skin care routine for pregnant women (face and belly), reduction of stretch marks (before and after getting them. I’ve learned so much already and adding retinol to my routine has been the best thing I’ve done so far! Keep these videos coming.
Retinol is a Vitamin A derivative and so dangerous to use while pregnant. I really hope you haven’t been using that while you’re expecting or even breastfeeding if you plan to!
Dr. Alexis Stephens talks about how azelaic acid and bakuchiol (natural retinol alternative) is safe while pregnant in some videos. She may have specific videos as well, I’d double check. Retinol is definitely not safe!
Retinol is not pregnancy safe!
2 kids zero stretch marks bc i used pure vitamin E "Capsule". Poke a hole in the capsule with a needle & apply directly to the skin/stretch marks. My daughter had horrible red & purple stretch marks that came on almost overnight & after 1 month of using it daily (after bath at bedtime) they shrunk & are white in color. No red/purple. It can prevent them but also is the Absolute BEST if you already have them
In South Africa we have the product Desmastine. I am small framed and have strech marks from picking up weight (buttocks, thighs) but when I had twin I used Dermastine religiously and do not have a single stretch mark over my stomach!
I just love how honest these two studs are. I use The Ordinary's niacinamide serum but this will be a great guide to expand my skincare routine!
What is there to lie about? Honesty is not a virtue in absence of temptation
They feel more transparent than other dermatologist/gurus on KRplus. Definitely my favourites
@@doctordonnanoble we call that knowledgeable, not honest.
@@ZelenoJabko they are very knowledgeable, but I mean that they seem a lot more transparent when it comes to sponsorships and biases. No one does KRplus without monetary gain, and it's so disappointing whenever we realize their true purposes behind each video. So far they have been a lot more transparent, disclosing their relationship when reviewing the Selfless line, directly stating who they are sponsored by and why, etc.
@@ZelenoJabko knowledge and honesty aren't synonyms, though. I perfectly get what the other commenter is saying. They educate the public so we don't have to spend crazy money on products that aren't really worth the price tag.

I’ve used The Ordinary for about 10 years. NEVER disappoints. I’ve made errors but that was on me. It’s a routine that requires patience as do most. I’m devoted now and they work.
I would like to see you put together an example skin care routine for different problems ppl struggle with. Like from morning to evening day by day routine than we could base off of. I love the Niancimide. It has really worked magic with my skin. Used to be really oily and constantly having pimples have been a normal thing for me, soon 37. Bought the niamcimide last October and it quickly made my skin less oily and since then I have had ONE pimple. Wish I had known about it sooner. Their rosehip and squalane oils are also good, does wonders to the skin during our dry winters here in Sweden if/when moisturizer is not enough. And without making my skin more oily or acne prone (like coconut oil can be).
