you actually put oil (olive or other) in the water to prevent the pasta from sticking together for those who forget to stir. Salt is considered for flavor as most people are addicted to it unlike myself who never uses it when cooking and ask the chefs at the restaurants I go to to not use it on my food. Sodium is only required when you sweat to much and need a little replacement in your body otherwise most food products you buy already have to much sodium in them.
bunstuffer1 oil in the water doesn’t stop it from sticking. put oil afterwards. stirring it constantly stops it from sticking and salt is used to boil quicker and for taste.
