Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi drama needs a Netflix documentary. Like really. While back Nissan under Carlps Ghosn accused Mitsubishi of emission cheat, their stock tanks, Nissan quickly buy Mitsubishi stock and form the alliance. I bet this pisses a lot of Japanese executives.

Why would you single out those as the issue when other manufacturers are doing the same thing and succeeding?
They DO NOT need a Silvia, coupes are all but dead and they will not sell enough to make a profit let alone save the company.
Renault is a huge resource for finances and engineering. If Nissan were cut loose today they would likely fold within a year.
Other manufacturers do fine with CVTs, nissan does fine with them also, if you want to seriously consider what it would take to save the company you cant act like enthusiasts are the only market to cater to.

CVT has been fixed since 2017, I don't like them but newest models haven't been to big an issue. Thankfully Nissan is starting to introduce a new 9-speed transmission to a lot of their models.
If your buying a newer nissan change the cvt fluid every 25,000 miles, sadly the reason all these transmissions are failing is because people believe you can just leave the car on its own like an older japanese car
How to save Nissan in 3 easy steps:

For real, I bailed on the Sentra and Corolla due to their poor CVT. My wife's Civic is barely acceptable. I love my 1st gen Titan though.

Merge with Renault was a disaster. They've dropped in quality and reliability significantly ever since. No wonder the japanese side wants to push Renault away. That's why Ghosn had to flee from Japan, because it felt like an organized scheme, perhaps even with some japanese authorities behind the scenes helping to get rid of this guy.
I agree, I always felt like ghosn was trying to knock Nissan down a few pegs. No all new gtr for ages was a crime in itself.

Here’s the problem: we’re looking at this from an enthusiast perspective, but we’re only a tiny portion of their market because most of us want to buy older nissans anyway. Really, our opinions are irrelevant because nissans primary sales are in commuter cars.

Yes and no. Enthusiasts do a lot for the reputation of a brand, even if they make up a smaller portion of the market. Which is why companies are still making enthusiast cars despite the low demand.
Birki gts I don’t think you understand what he is talking about. Nissan’s hottest selling cars are the Rogue, Altima, and Sentra. All commuter class vehicles. They need to worry about getting their lower lineups more stable before doing anything else. The brand has already been tainted so badly solely by the CVTs failing that literally people (enthusiast’s even) avoid them.
New commuter cars are not as special because of a lot of them looking the same and have the same tech and engines
that was my first thought when I saw the headline. The Z and GTR are cars to gain interest in a brand. They are small sellers in the grand scheme of Nissans sales.
Personally I can't wait to see more of the new Z. But I still love my 350 and I feel like some small aspects of the 400z aren't going to be to my liking. But hey, unlike the Supra, atm, at least you can get the Z in a manual still. :D

That 180 has what? 2.5L engine? There were different Sentra trim in your car's time. From 1.8-2.5 L I believe. This new sentra only offers 2.0L atm.
Yours has 72 hp per liter, this new sentra offers 74.5 hp per liter.
@@jpogigtxcr1778 My Sentra model is from 07-12 and is an SR trim with the standard engine, a Mr20de 2.0L . They came with either a garbage CVT or 5 spd trans. There was I believe 6 trim classes and the higher end one's had "Pre-wanna-be Nismo" with SE-R and SE-R Spec V. They had a 2.5L and either an actual geared automatic or a 6 spd manual trans.
No the 2.5 was 180. Your 2.0 is 140.

I know, my first car was a nissan. Technically infiniti, but you get the jist. 93 infiniti G20, my favorite little 4 banger. Center of gravity on that car was fantastic, handled like a dream. SR20 felt de-tuned for that car, though, so it wasnt very fast lol
I got q50 s hybrid instead of german or othet conpetitors its the best bang for the buck q60 looks sexy asf and is pretty rare what makes it appealing , infiniti isnt that much far away from lexus just needs a bit refresh and good marketing and a bit lower price

My second vehicle was an 06 Nissan maxima, first ride I did 100 mph without breaking a sweat, 6 months later traded in for Dodge Charger cause something was wrong with it, wouldn’t drive right it had low miles I took pretty good care of it. Same day i took it to dealership serpentine belt and a compressor went out when they backed it up to the back of their lot while I was driving the charger off the lot. They weren’t happy for the 2000$ fix. At all. They called me and told me what happened but I already bought the car. I loved Maxima but charger faster and more reliable, till it got stolen then bought 08 Cadillac STS. Still have it. Badass car I love it

I drove a 2019 Z a few months ago. Loved most of the car. Great power as expected. But the freaking radio was the same as I used to have in my 2008 Altima Coupe that I bought in late 2007! It’s like they aren’t even trying. Hope this car returns the Z back to its glory days while updating the technology.
The 400z should get an interior/tech similar to the new Sentra/Altima with the resdesign, will picking up the Engine from the Q50/60. So it will be plenty competitive for the price tag Nissan is likely to charge.

I’ve watched the Z revealed, and I am very interested on what the production lineup will be. I am hoping for a T-top option already the 6speed manual transmission and the twin turbos got my attention. I’m sure there’s going to be lots of after market body kits, lots of motor/ suspension upgrades. Going to be a competition for the BMW/Supra.
Hopefully Vin Diesel can use the new Z for the next Fast and Furious 12 or what segment the movie is at.

As for the AMC not even Chrysler could save them, so they were doomed to fail.
@@daniellau5859 - actually, Renault was MORE INVOLVED into Kenosha and Toledo than Chrysler ever was (they only wanted the Jeep brand, while Renault wanted to sell their products on top of Jeep's).
It was under Renault that was designed Jeep's 4.0L I6, as they saw a good design in the old 3.8 and 4.2L and modernized it.
Ghosn tried to orchestrate Renault buying Nissan outright. Anyone who knows Japanese business knows this is a no-no about foreign ownership. Ghosn was told to not orchestrate the coup, but tried anyway. So...he got whacked. This is well known by those in Japan who pay attention.

Build affordable and fun to drive(quick/torque and handling). But most importantly a reliable car that will last as long as a Honda and Toyota.
I just had my 2014 Altima go through the ringer of maintenance at 56,000 miles. Radiator, tranny, and break fluid drain/fill services, and an oil change. I don't drive it hard ( Come on it's a 4 cylinder family sedan ) and so far the car's been beautiful. I'm lucky with this baby, but everybody I know with a Nissan HATES them lately, my neighbor's Rogue tranny went out at 80,000 miles for example. I love Nissan, but I don't see them surviving without huge improvements in overall quality.

It's sad because I've owned 3 Hyundai/Kia group cars for 153-192k miles with no really major complaints, they weren't perfect but not bad. My 3 Mazda's were flawless.

The "M" car is probably an updated Micra, which wasn't revealed bc its most likely not headed to the US market.. Though the lack of a versa hatch could leave room in the lineup for a versa-based Micra hatch

that wasn't the best time for Nissan as a brand you know... in fact the 300ZX wasn't doing super well and they quit doing Zs stateside for several yrs... the heyday for Nissan was 70s and 80s with the 90s seeing a downward tick... even in the early 2000s Nissan didn't have the greatest rep... that first QR25 was very cheaply done and I can recall the Sentra SE-R that used it while semi-popular was rather lackluster...

Actually Datsun is still a thing, the Datsun GO exists so I see why they would make another Datsun. But if so, why on Nissan's KRplus channel? I don't think Datsun has one though, so that much makes sense. But also remember the Pulsar? That thing was a Datsun and now there's a new Nissan with the same name. So this could really go either way.

The Z has been sharing the same platform as the Skyline/G series for many years, performance-wise the new Z should pretty much be the same as the Q60 Red Sport 400.
They need to badge it as DATSUN, to honour the heritage of this great Z Marque,
I blame Nissan's huge downfall to the fact that they're putting CVT's in everything.
CVTs aren't to bad and are improving, but Nissan is using Jatco transmissions which is basically the FCA of transmissions. Look at Subaru, theirs are made in house by Fuji and haven't had any major issues so far
I think the issue with Nissan is that they sell old technology and design against competition that is simply better and more innovative. And for the car guys, their current sports models are extremely old

Jon Meray I serviced the bearings in the Jatco CVT of my old awd Dodge Caliber, was actually really impressed with how simple it was put together. Transmission had 150,000 miles on it and the belt and pulleys looked brand new despite hammering on it constantly.
It will become legendary when it become the last car of Nissan...😆

Nissan usually sticks pretty close to their concept car designs, it's pretty rare that there is any major changes
to the design when officially released.
We need a new Skyline. And new 6-speed manuals in performance models of the maxima and Sentra etc.

The R35 isn't going to be replaced until 2024-25 most likely, Nissan needs a new performance platform to underpin the car.
