Ex-Chauffeur here, I've always wondered what it would be like to take a private jet because I was always dropping clients off or picking them up from FBO's, a lot of the times they'd request to be picked up or dropped off next to the airplane. It was such an awesome experience, this is like an insiders look to what it's actually like flying and landing and honestly, I think it's so cool!
someone get this man on a private jet π
@@alaynamarsden7212 Haha, I wish! I wouldn't be able to afford it though, maybe someday! :D
love how authentic this was - and the kindness of the pilots and everyone to explain everything
Downie was so excited about asking what we need to know because it's his first private flight π
Where trains can do the trip faster, planes should be banned. We donβt have to consume less or become more primitive, we just have to become more energy efficient and consume smarter.
But not a jet.
@@ncard00 agreed but as long as people have money, you will never be able to tell someone what to do with it.
start your sentence with the letter i, for idiot, because if you dont it seems like you telling me to love something which of course is not up to you
It might be worth mentioning that Airble only seems to be available in Canada. This needs to be global.
Downloaded the app to book a flight, and I came to the same conclusion, super unfortunate
Yeah wish that was mentioned. Maybe this was a gotcha looking ad?
@@br4nd0nh347Itβs not an ad, just a βtryβ video
The app said US flights coming soon.
@@marilynmcphail9221 One can only hope.... Otherwise we may need to post a "Job/flight wanted" flyer at the local personal air ports.. LOL
Many private charters charge for empty return flights. My last boss started sending a person along to fly back as a booked flight after he found out he was being charged full return empty flight , but the charters were booking seats on them, but not reducing what they charged the regular paying customers like my last boss. He figured if he is paying for it, he should get to use it.
the contract says that the operator owns any "positioning legs". they may have a newsletter you can join to be notified of deals to fly them. if you really want a round trip the same day, it can be negotiated for much less than two one-ways.
if nobody buys them, they can change what positioning flights might be flown right up to the day of travel, depending where planes need to come from or get to on that day. it's not entirely known in advance what positioning legs will be flown or sometimes even what plane you'll be on.
Your boss sounds like one bad mf lol. He has a guy who is a subordinate who can get work done and can also be around and is like..youβ¦your coming with me. Letβs go and then boom. Love that. Sounds dope af.
Man, the Avanti is one of my favorite planes in terms of design. Super cool that you had a chance to fly on one!
This was in competition with the Beech Starship but that is out of production. The Avanti continues to be built.
What a helpful service, thanks for the tip on a new way to travel.
video would get way more hits. I could ride in avanti for 500 bucks
Ugliest plane ever built
Impressive indeed !
The Piaggio is an amazing plane. It's a turboprop, not a jet, but it flies at speeds comparable to many jets with greater fuel efficiency. One irony -- it may be quiet inside, but it's loud as heck outside while in flight, with an extremely distinctive sound due to the engine exhaust passing through the propellers. The most recent ones are apparently a little quieter, but still not what you'd call quiet. Once you've heard the sound, you'll definitely recognize it without even looking up.
Thatβs so neat!
I live just off the glidepath for the local airport and one came in a few weeks ago. I can validate what you said! It's an awesome plane though, there are quite a few of them knocking around the sky.
Jets just what everyone calls them. All modern airliners are turbofan engines not jets just we still call them jets.
@@ruk2023-- Yeah, but really nobody calls a turboprop a jet. I agree it's splitting hairs a bit, but once you hang a prop on it I think most people don't think of it as a "jet" anymore, even though it has a turbine driving the prop.
@@MikeKobb I dunno I reckon most people would look at this thing and call it a private jet. Like cars 99% of people donβt care what kind of plane it specifically is.
Can confirm this is available in the US now! Though the pricing is no different than flying private by traditional meansβ¦ between $20K and $50K depending on departure/arrival location. Even short routes that are only a few hours of flight time are well into the $20K range. Maybe as they continue expanding and gain popularity in the US the prices will decrease π€·π»ββοΈ
This is not for the average Joe Blow. This is more for the wealthy or business owners who value their time. Business's can write this off on their taxes so that in itself makes it worthwhile.
Then the App is all but worthless in the US. I checked into flying private and when getting the info the pricest part is having to pay for the planes time to and from your destination and any down time the plane has. That's when it gets really expensive!!!
@@chefscorner7063 exactly π― thereβs regional membership-based services that are price effective, but they only offer value if you commonly fly between a set of destinations relatively close together. For example, LAX to SFO, or LAX to LAS, SFO to SEA, etc. If you have to fly an uncommon or long flight path, itβs going to be tens of thousands per flight no matter what. I think with time we might see one of these niche services get traction and make it more accessible as a whole. There are ways to get these cheap flights, but youβre basically getting lucky lol itβs not consistent at all.
This app is useless and no different than getting a regular charter flight. The shared flights is genuinely unavailable for practically any flight here in Southwest Florida to practically anywhere. Pass⦠uninstalling now after checking it out for half an hour. I want my time back
Same I tried in Canada and the lowest price for a 2 hour flight was $21,000 CAD
WOW! I might be looking into this to go visit a friend upcountry! Great idea. Thank you.
I'm jealous... looks like the app is Canada only. I'd love for it to launch in US next. So so cool.
Lucky me Iβm in Canada
Yea that a bummer. Iβll wait for now. US next please.
I was wondering how they got around the us federal regulations. Until I also realized itβs only in Canada. Part 135 is unscheduled flight and 121 is scheduled flight. These operations would be normally considered 135 operations but the minute you post a scheduled flight available to the public it becomes a 121 flight which is subject to a whole different set of rules and regulations.
Cool idea for passengers but not so great for the corporate pilots that probably arenβt as much of a fan of the app. Lol.
Not sure it will ever happen in the us due to federal regulations. But maybe they will find a loop hole.
Mostly itβs on west coast. I donβt see much near Toronto
No private jets for you.
Of course i would see this after just booking 2 trips π I love that apps like this are a thing now!
The irony of an earth friendly sponsor, in a video promoting private jet travel. π€£π€£

as cool as it is for the traveler i think its great for the owners of the planes. a reason to be able to enjoy your plane with a purpose more often than just the family vacation. hope to see this come to the US
Itβs probably too good to be true. If this somehow becomes popular, commercial jet corporations would do anything to stop it, including lobbying the government to put restrictions on its usage, and apply the same security and customs inspections to it as public flights.
Also, itβs not exactly good for the environment, and as more people do it, supply will become limited and prices will just rise significantly.
β@@JwellsuhhuhRight now, the prices are high enough you could just settle for first class on a regular flight anyways.
@@Jwellsuhhuh Tell that to Taxi drivers
@@borg_wow my region (hong kong) bans uber and made their own "uber" which is basically collaborated with uber to call their normal taxis.
And in other places in the world, taxi companies are nothing compared to the incomprehensible huge commercial aviation industry. Just like oil companies and big tech, they're going nowhere are they will do everything in their power to stay that way.
Unless those same aviation companies all happened to agree to switch to their own private/jet-pool models which would be unlikely because they're significantly less profitable

Loved how down to earth your content is - subscribed! Hello from Perth, Western Australia!
Awesome! Thank you!
Yes, empty leg flights are usually cheap because they're going to their destination regardless so when no one books that leg, they tend to be very cheap. It's great if you like to travel especially with friends, it can be far cheaper than everyone paying for their own commercial ticket especially if you like to travel in business or 1st class.
Wow! That was great, Mike. I had no idea that there was an app available for this. It looks like a bargain for the traveller and helps to reduce costs for the aircraft operator. I note from one of the previous comments that it only operates in Canada- what a pity, but my chances of a cheap trans-Atlantic private plane are probably remote anyway.
Very cool. I've got to look into this. Thanks for sharing, Mike!

I didn't realize New Zealand had a network of airports like the U.S. and the U.K. Good to know
Yeah though keep in mind a lot of small UK airports are RAF only. I do see private jets a lot though. I like stalking them on Flightradarππ

I just checked this plane for a flight in two months from Calgary to Vancouver. It was $15,000 for four people on this website.

Ok, seems Airble only operates in Canada for the moment. Bummer!! Gotta see if there is a US equivalent.
JSX and Blade exist in the US. Have never flown in either but friends have done JSX.
@@Santiago-in1xf JSX and Blade are private jet fleets, the same as Million Air. They definitely fly deadhead routes, but they aren't really in the same category as Airble, which, as Downie explained, contracts with companies such as Million Air(and I'm hoping eventually JSX and Blade) to fly deadhead routes with Airble customers onboard, essentially turning those deadheads into real flights!
Ten dollars a day for Uber jets sounds very false considering that most Ubers charge more than double of that for a car ride less than an hour long.
@@SYDAirlineEnthusiast Yeah, I was referring to the upgrade on car rentals being $10/day more, not Uber or flying privately...sorry for the confusion. But as Downie explained, for just a little more ($150 each over commercial), he and his friend were able to fly private. Pretty cool!
@@itsnotme07 10 bucks a day for a car rental is excellent. I never rented a car for less than a 100 something a day.
Probably paying that much for a small group to do an interstate flight from like NY to LA would definitely be worth it as it would only cost a bit more than economy class in a budget airline! It would also make a lot of sense for smaller groups travelling to remote locations like if you are flying from a major Australian city to a really remote regional town/area! :)
I think the making flights faster by removing the wait times, customs...etc will make costs come down and profits go up for these private airlines because the 2 hrs of wait time for each flight adds up and if there's 5 flights per day that 10 hours of more flights that could be done in that time.
@@D33Lux
Yup while that could also allow those charter airlines to do flights that are the same price per person compared to economy class non budget airlines! Thatβs of course as long as your group is just the right size to fill the flight! They might also be cheaper than commercial airlines when it comes to flying to more remote locations were commercial flights are otherwise really expensive like from any major city in Australia to Alice Springs for example! :)
@@D33Luxyea, but you neglected to consider range. On a NY to LA flight, youβd have to stop for fuel on the way, taking up to two hours to accomplish.

Just to get this out the way, you remind me of JD from scrubs. OK, just found this video and loved it and so subscribed. Thank you.
Iβve been about to fly private a handful of times with the owner of the company I work for and it definitely makes my typical economy experience feel pretty terrible in comparison. Pulling up to the airstrip feels like youβre going to a coffee shop or something and youβre on the plane in like 100 steps or less. It is a little different when youβre the owner of the jet though. No safety briefing, no checking the weight of luggage, and he would just call the pilot when we were on the way to the airstrip and tell them to get it ready. From the time we parked, it might be 15 to 20 minutes until we were in the air which is just insane the first time you experience it.
Turbulence in those smaller jets can also be an experience lol.
It's funny because you get the exact same experience at tiny, remote airports. Quick checks, empty and comfortable with tons of amenities, get walked out to the runway by the pilot and boarded immediately, takeoff is quick. I flew out of some small ass town in Idaho and it was EXACTLY like this.
@@borg_wow that does sound pretty nice. Even my local airport in Tulsa is pretty convenient and low stress compared to big city airports. My limited experience with flying private was that it was on a different level simply because of the flexibility and control over schedule that the owner has. We pulled the car right up next to the plane and left the keys in it for someone to deal with and were in the air in less than 5 minutes. If I actually owned a jet I imagine it would be difficult to go back to commercial when itβs necessary. The owner of the jet Iβve flown on sometimes has to because planes require regular maintenance and once in awhile his pilots just arenβt available because they do have lives. Iβm sure flying American Airlines is rough after a month of using a PJ. To me commercial flights still feel like a nice luxury even if they have a lot of stress that seems unnecessary.

Hey Mike! I love your carry on luggage with built-in scooter. Can you please let me know where I can get one? I could've used one like that when I was in SLC airport going from one terminal to another. Thanks in advance, and happy travels!
This is a massive game changer for private jets. Even smaller companies will be able to afford their own while making money off of it and saving money while using it. This is a prime example of distributed wealth. I really hope people realize how cheap this can be if more planes get on that app and more people hear about the prices. Obviously they'll never be able to cover the majority of traffic but $100 more then economy? That's gotta make the big airline palms sweat.
Airlines need not worry, this is not a mass-scalable model. There wonβt be any more cheap βdeadheadβ trips available when more people know about this: the fares are going to go up to fit demand to the relatively static supply. Maybe more existing private plane operators will sign up as it gets more popular, but thereβs only so many of them. Itβs also unlikely that this app makes private plane operating that much more profitable overall to allow new operators to start up.
@@hylje the app doesn't need to make the plane profitable for a company it just needs to get them closer to breaking even, they're gonna spend the money either way. I believe that's what I just said in my comment, it'll never replace popular routes in bulk but for odd route specially from non international airports this could really take a chunk out of that market. Commercial airlines usually need to somewhat deadhead themselves for the more out of the way routes meanwhile every airport in America has at least one private plane parked at it. If you notice on the app in the beginning it's not just fancy jets, they had little Cessnas on there too. Could really help a plane enthusiast pay for maintenance or just help them get more hours. Small planes are just way better for some routes instead of a half empty 747 once a month.
This is not a dependable mode of transportation because there is no guarantee that an airplane will be at the airport you want to depart from and even worse trying to find an airplane to return to where you want to go.
This is awesome. Is this an international app? I have only flown one time but flying private would be wonderful. Maybe Iβd actually go places instead of driving hundreds and thousands of miles. As always thank you for taking me with you on your travels. I love Canada and itβs on my list to visit and maybe just stay.
Just stay? Doesnβt work that way.

The Piaggio is my favorite plane, aside from the F14, but it is not a jet, it's a turbo prop.
A turboprop is a jet engine that turns a propeller. It's still a jet, just not a turbofan with an afterburner.
@@Beet5090 no, a jet uses a turbine engine to produce thrust to move the vehicle. This does use a turbine, but that spins the prop, hence not a jet.
Jet definition- "a rapid stream of liquid or gas forced out of a small opening." which is not how a propeller works, otherwise you'd be saying that every helicopter with a turbine engine is also a het5, which they're not; or the Chrysler turbine car from the 50s is also a jet since it uses a turbine engine to turn it's wheels, and it's obviously not a jet
@@lambotama I'm glad you can use google. The engine on the Avanti uses the same principles as a turbofan. Whether it uses the exhaust to provide thrust or turn a propeller does not change whether the engine is jet powered.
