It kinda hurt my heart a little when it was obvious Rhett kinda felt bad/was caught off-guard by his son quoting the "must make you a moron." Rhett has probably never really thought twice about it. In an innocent way. Makes me wonder what my students hear most from me.

I’m the same with my students,,, I’m so stressed out now if they’ve taken my off handed comments to heart, may have to talk to them about that on Monday 🥺
Those off-handed comments can really make an impact. My dad is a great and wonderful father, but I will always remember that one time, years ago, he called me stupid in an off-handed way during a family game night. I know he didn't mean it, but his opinion means so much to me, there have been times where I will doubt my intelligence and think of that moment.
It's interesting. My father was just like this. Always more a friend and we still take small jabs at each other now. Anyone on the outside looking in would think he was mean to us. My sister's definitely have a different view of how he was when we were kids but I'll always appreciate how he tried to open up in the only way he knew how- mean jokes.
I love my dad more than anything in this world. But he has hurt my heart so much with what he has said to me in moments of anger and I don't think he realizes just how much his words effect me. Like I care SO MUCH about what he thinks of me. Even though he has told me he's so proud of me, I cannot help but remember all the times when he was really upset and dissapointed with me. I don't think parents realize how much everything they say influences their children whether they mean what they say or not.

Whole point of being a grandparent is to spoil and be soft on grandkids. At that point you’re done parenting. That’s your child’s job at that point and all you have to do is be fun. 😂

Rhett feels so off. I feel bad for him. So sweet of him to open up about the struggles, because a lot of us are dealing with our teens during this time and it’s hard on them and us.
You can tell Rhett loves his kids because he laughs at every one of their answers.
You can see how different they are in terms of parenting but somehow meet in the middle and agree. Such a wholesome friendship.
Rewatching this made me realize how link and rhett has different ways of parenting because their home life was different going up... Link having been raised by his mom making him a more hands-on parent more nurturing I guess. Rhett was raised his dad at home making him more traditional dominant dad if that makes sense.
Rhett’s dad is a lawyer so definitely tough love. Explains also why he seems more strict or gruff than Link.

It was hilarious when they were talking about how Rhett's kids think of him as working hard for his job and worrying about all the work he has during his free time and Link's kids think of him as sleeping and relaxing during his free time.
I'm in links camp with reusing my mug, sometimes I just drink out of the same mug all day, whereas my roommate will use 5 different glasses per day at least...and I don't get it.
I sometimes forget that I already drank from a glass and just get another one, but my dad literally drinks coffee from his mug and asks for water with the same mug without washing it. ._.

I'm the 2nd with an older brother and no no, he got to hang out with friends go wherever whenever and I was barely aloud to play with neighbor friends in my own house or front yard.

And I am a girl too as you. It depends on the parents I guess. But generally as Rhett said, as my parents have said as well, you know that you can not be perfect parent by the time the second one comes and you're also kind of exhausted so...yay for me😂
The fact that none of Rhett kids or Link's kids never seriously said a bad word about their dads, is just heart warming. And in my mind is definitely proves what great parents Rhett and Link are! #EarBiscuits

I'm not lucky enough to have children and I'm just about mid thirties, but I love the idea of this feedback and seeing yourself through their eyes.
It's obvious there's alot of love there.
PS - I was trying to think of my favourite memory with my dad and what came to mind for some reason is driving him to the city the year before last to Christmas shop for my mother (as we do every year) and we were talking about the weather. This made him start singing the song "Get the Urge for Going" which I had never heard before. Loved it. I always love those yearly trips. I remember another time where he was trying to explain how he wasn't raised to express love or give hugs in his family and that he has a hard time doing so. Telling a family friend that "his girls" (my mom and I) were the best thing he'd every done/had/created in his life.
