Wow this really is art! Beyond Ailee’s amazing vocal, did anyone else catch all the symbolic references in the video? I hope people realize this video is about more than just a connection between a girl and a dog. My interpretation is that the dog actually symbolizes the feelings between Ailee’s character with the male lead and their interactions with the dog capture their reactions to their feelings for each other.
My personal take on this:
In the first scene (0:17) you see the puppy pop up after Ailee meets the guy, representing their new and immediate attraction. In the following scenes you see the dog grow representing their growing relationship through texting (0:45), playing etc. Until the relationship is a healthy strong relationship and you see this during the tennis/grad scenes when the dog is mature and healthy (1:35).
After the hospital scene the pressures of Ailee’s career is distracting her at home and the relationship starts to suffer and we can see this when the dog starts looking more tired and worn (2:54). At first this is okay until the constant neglect fractures the relationship beyond repair (4:14). Side note: love how the screen is cracked over Ailee’s face in this scene representing their broken relationship when she doesn’t pick up the phone.
The scene where the guy gives the dog away shows his reluctance to let go of his feelings for Ailee (4:29) and how letting go hurts him (5:16), but does so anyways and moves on leaving for good.
(5:49) As time passes, the dog becomes more tired and ragged after being neglected and locked away. The relationship similarly starts fading and dying. The dog or the feelings eventually get set free (6:54) though it’s lost unclear where it should be. Even though Ailee is in a new relationship seeing a similar dog reminds her of her past feelings (7:54) and what she had lost. Unsettled, she returns back to where she first met her past love (10:09). This the made her realize how much the past relationship meant to her and causes her to mourn the state of the relationship after realizing she was responsible for how things ended up.
The lyrics of the song match perfectly with this narrative. Now go back and rewatch the video again to appreciate this work of art.
Edit: Okay it looks like people are still mad, sad and confused about why the dog was treated so poorly, but I think that’s the point the MV is trying to make. Keeping in mind that the dog symbolizes our relationships to others, similar to how we feel toward the dog’s situation we should be mad, sad and question “why” when our important relationships are neglected. Our special connections with others should be cherished and protected, same as how the dog should have been better taken care of in the MV.

The main actors, not Ailee, not the guy. It's the lovely golden retriever. My heartbreak for the dog. It reminds me a bit of Hachi. The song fits well with the mv. At first, I thought this song might be Ailee gave it to the guy, but in the middle of mv, I'm totally wrong. Sometimes we overlook that animals love us unconditionally, but we take advantage of their love for us. Animals deserve our love too. For those with pets, love them like they are part of our blood because no matter what we're the only one for our pets.

The dog was what made the MV sad. Dogs are family and loyal to its owner. Even though you raised it and sometime turn it away. It'll never turn it's back but loved you the way you love and raised it.

I cried so hard for the whole 11 mins its so sad. Especially when the lead guy give his dog and he keeps on calling him. Its so hard to contain my feelings right now. I am a dog lover and my dog died last sept 18. This song remind me of him. I missed him so much. I am happy for Ailee in this MV bc she reunited with the dog. On my part i will never see him again.
I know some might say what are you talking about? This is about love story (or maybe not). But thats what the song convey for me.

omg! I cried!!! As a Dog lover, this is so heartbreaking. Losing your pet is the most heartbreaking feeling. Dog's or any Pet's love is so loyal and pure, we don't deserve them. However, I'm so relieved that at the end of the MV, the owner found her dog again.
