Dear Olivia Jade, From a USC Reject

Right? I'm paying out of pocket for community college and working my butt off to save and plan for each semester. I don't feel cheated(becuase I never applied to USC as an applicant or sports recruit), but its the nature of the scandal. Why couldn't you just donate a building and sponsor a poor kid like every other wealthy family that bribes their way into elite schools. Also, considering the fact OJ knew the Caruso guy and that he was on USC board of trustees, I'm sure she could've gained admission without taking a crew kid's spot. Its one thing to cheat the system, but something else entirely to do what they did.

University is hard!! Between papers, tests, readings, and assignments I barely have time to eat!! Forget about partying. All that combined with my part time job leaves me with almost no free time. Meanwhile, this girl is partying in yachts and vlogging. Smh

@@a1.w6 the operative word here is "acts." it's all a big act. aunt becky has probably spent almost as much money on PR people as she has on lawyers in the last couple months. it's not about truth to these people, it's about perception. watch how cleverly they will deceive the public in order to try to save Olivia Jade's image, and, ultimately, ability to be able to earn without having to work or learn. they think they are better than me and you. that's not an opinion- it's a fact. but enough of them, what about the countless other schools and persons that DIDN'T get caught!?

axfurY oh she definitely knew. she even posed for “rowing” photos like come on. then aunt becky pulled some strings here and there and the coaches got paid. most of the kids in the scandal knew. how can you not know when you’re SAT scores were literaly fixed or you faked being on a sports team. also some of the kids even bragged lol. that one girl from yale was boasting to her classmates about her parents paying millions for her to get into yale. like girlll.

LIT see it’s statements like that. If anyone says something like that, you immediately know something sketchy went on with their application. And also, no one with a proper IQ would ever boast about something like that, which is something these institutions test.

So NOW we know someone who actually did the right thing to get into USC. Did everything right and got snubbed from your dream school. Hopefully you are over the terrible experience and able to MOVE on! Hopefully doing well NOW, and 100% HONEST!!!

Sadly the Wealthy have been buying their kids way into college for generations. Usually the schools accepted very large donations, had entire wings built, etc.. the difference is the legality of it. I personally think all ways shouldn't be legal. Perhaps the courts could have the parents involved set up a scholarship trustfund for kids who like you worked hard to get there.

@Veronica Guvel you make such a valid point... people really are unaware how selective these schools are and that 90% of rejects wouldn't have gotten in at all. They're acting like anyone who ever applied has been wronged when in reality these elite schools have super high rejection rates as it is.

Here's what I would do.
Step 1: Find out who stole my spot
Step 2: Find out where they live
Step 3: Murder them
Step 4: Get my shit back :)

Veronica Guvel gretchen explained that only 15 or so people are accepted as recruits for rowing even if you don’t necessarily have the grades. There were two girls who did get rejected from rowing at USC. I don’t think the people denied necessarily need to be upset as much as the rowing or other athletes that tried getting recruited and didnt get the spot

​@@angelaweston8274 That's true, but undoubtedly many of the 90% who were rejected were still more qualified to be at USC than Loughlin's daughters (and God knows how many other kids whose parents bribed their way). So they should be upset, too. Imagine working your ass off and applying honestly, and getting rejected, and some rich liar gets in. You'd have every right to be pissed.

@@kattykleo8579 Okay so 2 points - the college admin system is extremely subjective and has little concrete standards. The standards of Ivy Leagues are pretty similar yet people get into Harvard but get rejected from Yale (I've seen it in person), does that mean the person with a perfect GPA, SAT score and the perfect application wasn't good enough for Yale? No it's extremely subjective and based on an admin officer's choice. Schools let people in who don't have the credentials for the school - like bad students getting into Harvard or Duke for a sport (bball), the school has an agenda like sports titles, ticket sales etc. IMO that is extremely unfair academically bc they get a super elite degree without being qualified and actual smart kids lose spots for dumb athletes. Then there is the thing about affirmative action (I can see the point for a fair chance but skin color shouldn't be the basis, it should be for low income in general). People who don't match the rest of the applicants are getting in to reach "quotas" for the reputation of the school rather than their merit. Even "donating a building" dumb kids, they're not there on merit and it's wrong but it's legal. All of those facts combined tell me that there's no real way to prove that you were wrongly rejected/ cheated bc it comes down to a person saying Yes or No.
On OJ - she was a grad of Marymount High (personal experience with a student, it's as tough/ tougher than college) and her "extra curriculars" = 2m follower youtube channel, acting, modelling, brand deals, etc do hold a lot of weight on their own, so considering those 2 things I think she can definitely be put in another category from normal applicants. Celebs even Malala (meh grades, but nobel prize) got into oxford, James Franco etc etc are given special consideration for their work that normal students don't get. I think what OJ did was awful and unlike donor kids (donations benefit all students), their scam only benefitted her/ the bribed guy. Someone who didn't care about college and literally scammed on the basis of a fake sport doesn't deserve to be there. However considering everything I said above I have no reason to think anyone elses chances were hurt by this because, being subjective and unfair with all the different BS, there's no guarantee that anyone was "cheated" out of a spot. If it were all grades and there was a concrete system there would definitely be a case but college admin is the basically a lottery so there's no way to prove that i or any other applicant have been affected by their choice.
On top of that, I think people suing are only interested in money and are not genuine in their cause bc then every applicant ever in history would deserve compensation. Why should a handful of randoms get millions when others get nothing and to me, how are they entitled to that reward at all?? on top of that - trying to take money from a school's fund used for student causes like buildings, research funding, school improvement expenses for yourself is totally disgusting to me. I see that behaviour as irrational and morally corrupt and selfish. Also how can you complain that OJ is entitled and undeserving of what she got yet the lawsuit people think they deserve MILLIONS of money they did not earn - is that entitlement too?

Except you're wrong and not only can money buy it, it still is buyng it. Integrity has a price and it could be poverty for many people. I couldn't even work for Starbucks the system disgusts me so much. Very few people at the top made it via integrity.

Nicole Marie, I really feel so badly for you kids who are all working so hard and applying right now to schools/waiting for the letters and seeing all this corruption. Breaks my heart. It’s such a very hard lesson so very early in your working life. We aww it more as we get older in our work lives. As you get more established in your career throughout life - you be the integrity, emulate integrity - that is one thing we can always do. It’s very powerful. Don’t underestimate the power of integrity. Affect change from that place. That has a much more powerful, long term impacts - in terms of having both happiness and success and in uplifting all around you. Corruption always fails long term. Integrity wins long term.

that's a horrible thing to encourage, these schools have like 4-9% acceptance rate out of all applicants, they get hundreds of thousands of applications and reject those who don't make the cut... there is something called a waitlist for students who are actually being considered for those spots. Just applying to USC doesn't mean you're entitled to anything, I hate all of you trying to talk about morals when you're supporting money hungry clowns who jumped at the first opportunity to benefit themselves instead of doing something real about the issue.
Most people are suing these schools... if they have to pay millions of dollars to people for no GOOD reason that is money being taken away from projects and investments and scholarships for STUDENTS. Less scholarships and aid for those in need, you think thats reasonable?

MrFuggleGuggle i’m sorry to say, USC master programs are pretty bad compared to PhD and undergrad. No master student gets a full picture of USC. It is well known that undergrad and PhD are the hardest to get into whereas master programs are very easy to get into and are therefore packed with unqualified ppl. Your 1 year master experience speaks for nothing, unfortunately.

Well, in some industries, where you went to school is very important when you begin looking for a job. A school like USC does carry some cache and provides great networking opportunities. That said, my husband went to Beer Keg U, graduated, went out into the world with an incredible work ethic and determination and is now a multi millionaire, in addition to being an all round good person. So you are correct, people who are smart and ambitious will generally succeed no matter where they end up for college. But there is no denying that a degree from Harvard or the like is going to get your foot in the door quicker than the average Joe, even if all other things are equal.

This girl in this video is a the exact kind of fool these schools pray on. Honestly Olivia just wanting to go party is more subversive than anything this heifer will ever do...

@@nicole601 Yeah, not really. There is a saying "it's not what you know but WHO you know." Schools that have a tight networking culture can and DO get jobs for young graduates who have never worked a day in their lives. Schools that are seen as very prestigious do in fact carry some great perks, and getting a job is one of them. Why do you think people sell their souls to get into these schools? That's the real world. Does that mean graduating from Tailgate U means you can't succeed? Not at all! But that grad may have to work a bit harder to get the same result.
