Bravery will be required on Stage 1. Tulbagh, once a frontier town, is still an untamed mountain biking destination. New trails and established challenges ensure a fittingly difficult day. Four major climbs punctuate the day with Raptor Rise setting a tone of sweeping switchbacks through fynbos, continued by Boegoe and the Kliprivier Trails. Fantiβs Pass, infamous in its intensity ensures the dayβs elevation gain easily exceeds 2 000 meters.
Itβs not just all challenges and climbing though. Singletracks, never before ridden in a race, like Jan se Bos offer a welcome reward for uphill toils, as do established trails like Assegaaibos and Godβs Window.
Fortune will favour the brave on this stage. But the line between bravery and foolishness can be a fine one, so be warned.

I watch every year. You all do such great coverage. Appreciate all the folks behind the scenes making it happen.
Pity about the video feed quality (even from the finish) and lack of time splits. NOT up to par with previous years.

R 117 000 000 in entry fees for 2024 and this is the best they can do with race coverage?
The broadcast quality is poor compared to previous years. It is just poor period. This is the world's best mtb race for a reason and the coverage plays a big role in that. I'm sure the organisers are aware of it and lets hope they get it back on par.

What is up with this terrible coverage? Previous years were much better. Are you guys using a different broadcaster or internet provider or what? Something is different, and it is not working. Please fix it. Very frustrating to watch.
Again Cape Epic interrupted women's race broadcast to show men's highlights. Pitiful.
