That was meant to be the sound of the Ferrari flat12 and, the equally impressive Ford Cosworth DFV V8. Both of them today still sound very impressive. They just have a better sound than current F1 engines.
As others have wisely pointed out, when James responded to Lauda's "you know my position, 20% risk," comment, that rightfully book ended the entire movie.. Hunt reminded Niki why they got into that sport in the first place...it wasn't to minimize risk, it was to race. The look on his face as James replied to him said it all. The introspection. It was all there. What a great movie...one of the best movies about auto racing ever. Certainly on the Mt. Rushmore of 'em.
Jack Stawowczyk lauda said it was 82% accurate, they just added them together in a few scenes in the movie that never took place but the way they acted towards eachother on the race track was real, they were competitive, but off the track they were actually good friends.

Now, do Rush 2 with Senna and Prost. But like this movie, involve Prost as much as it could. So we will get the real story unlike some unbiased documentary

to be honest, no rivalry will ever match this in my opinion. it would ruin this movie, take away the good in it. Senna and prost were good rivals, but they werent as contrasting characters as hunt and lauda. the build up wouldnt be anywhere near as good, it wouldnt be the same
Plus Senna and Prost in real life wouldn't make such diverse, interesting characters. Nigel Mansell in real life was more of a "film character" than the two combined. I'd rather see the cinematic Larry Bird v Magic Johnson.

Both great racers but for totally different reasons, they approached racing differently but 2 great drivers.
Appreciating your rival takes a heart. Niki had it, so did James. They were miles apart in their thought process, but close enough to appreciate the fines and skill other possessed. That's what defines a true sportsman spirit.
the look on the real Niki Lauda's face at the end speaks more about their friendship than words could ever convey.
See you in heaven, Champ. You will, Champ.
Wish Chris would do more roles like this.
Some of his choices are good but his movies outside mcu haven’t performed well on BO. This one is a perfect example of a good movie yet failed to perform well at BO.
This movie is so damn good.
The last seconds are incredible. The monstrous V12 roar accompanied by the music.
v10
@@stardancer4077 They had V 12 also.
That was meant to be the sound of the Ferrari flat12 and, the equally impressive Ford Cosworth DFV V8. Both of them today still sound very impressive. They just have a better sound than current F1 engines.
The 312T had a flat 12 and the Mclaren had a V8.
What a great scene.
The great thing about this film is that you can learn so much form the characters and there morals this film was a true masterpiece
Who's here after the news?
Rest in Peace, Niki. Now you and James can race again up there alongside Senna, Ratzberger, and Bianchi....
Don't forget Anthoine Hubert (even though he's F2, but still...)
The ending brings chills every time I watch it. The movie is an absolute masterpiece, despite not being 100% accurate.
Jack Stawowczyk lauda said it was 82% accurate, they just added them together in a few scenes in the movie that never took place but the way they acted towards eachother on the race track was real, they were competitive, but off the track they were actually good friends.
Tone, dialogue, acting, score
What a movie this is
Just watched it again with one of my friends.
The movie which I will never forget.
What hunt says at 1:54 is exactly what the majority of F1 fans need to hear right now. Too many fans are terrified of actual racing.
Wait till 2026 when it’s 50:50 combustion engine and Duracell batteries, 75kg of sustainable fuels (whatever the fuck that is) and v6 turbo trolley engines which sound like..trolleys..F1 has gone woke and green.
But the best part of F1 racing are the explosions.
Yeah and the dead racers and their bereaved families. That what kept me going back to the sport. Now they've taken the fun out of it.
I just had to see this scene again after hearing the news of Nikki's passing rip Nikki you will be missed.
nikki has now passed away and these 2 can now race forever to find out who's the best.
Rest in peace niki lauda and of course James hunt.🧡
Best thing about this climax scene is that both of them are right in their own perspectives.
Epic movie ❤️
They were Friendly Rivals. And both of them, World Champions. Maybe they're having fun in Heaven's Racetrack.
@ 5:09, brings shivers down my spine every time i watch this. What an utterly outstanding movie. So epic.
Wow ... what a scene
Bet they doing that when in heaven...
This movie is the main reason why i think that Chris Hemsworth is a good actor!!!
And Bruhl? The guy who played Lauda in the movie?
Well everyone praise Bruhl (rightfully tho) we know Bruhl was amazing, there's no doubt about it, but he's saying Chris because people tend to not give Hemsworth enough credit for his performance in this movie, when the fact is that was great here... They both did a great work AND the actors had the chemistry needed to portray the relationship that the characters had, the chemistry factor was an important element in the movie and they certaintly had it 👍😉
@@__jan6113 Was great. I dont remember a movie that Chris was bad in. He is kind of like Tom Cruise. Mostly in good movies, sometimes in bad movies but never bad in any movie.
Sure that Bruhl is a very good actor, but i know Bruhl since 2004 when i first time saw Good Bye Lenin. Hemsworth is a bit younger.
Hemsworth is a very good actor.. Bruhl is sensational actor.
When I heard he died aged 45 of a heart attack, I wasn't surprised, I was just sad. People always think of us as rivals, but he was among the very few I liked. And even fewer that I respected.
He remains the only person I envied.
Chillingly majestic
Yes we have ears, we heard the dialogue.
Man that final was so good
@@77anfi but you dont have a brain? He shared the dialogue because of how good it was and to let people feel and reply to it not because he wanted deaf people to know.
@@77anfi 😂😂
I only saw this for the first time yesterday.
This is one of the best movies ever... an absolute masterpiece. This scene in particular was incredible!
Now, do Rush 2 with Senna and Prost. But like this movie, involve Prost as much as it could. So we will get the real story unlike some unbiased documentary
Unfortunately it probably won’t happen. Senna’s family will have too much input in it and will try and censor anything that could consider to be against the whole “senna was an infallible god” thing.
@@AidanMillward if Ron Howard is still the director I believe he will do the story justice. Rush isn't his first gig at History drama. A Beautiful Mind was another Masterpiece
rockzs74r the senna family will still hold the licensing rights to Senna’s name and image. They will try and censor it to make him look good.
to be honest, no rivalry will ever match this in my opinion. it would ruin this movie, take away the good in it.
Here after hearing the news.
RIP Lauda sir. ❤
My wife doesn't do motorsport.
My wife loved this film and was sobbing uncontrollably.
I still watch this masterpiece over and over again. Rest In Peace, James. Rest In Peace, Niki. We miss you two 😢
It remains my only film or biopic that an actor that Daniel Bruhl has got the accent to exactly that of Nikki Lauda.
You could close your eyes and think it’s him talking.
Nah not even close
@@Project_s14 Lauda himself said he did a great job impersonating him.
There was an Instagram post of Daniel in full costume having a selfie next to Lauda himself. It was surreal to say the least.
Laura said he was stunned at how accurate Bruhl was
@@Project_s14 I think you are a trigger. You are entitled to your own opinion but vastly wrong.
I hope Ron Howard will make a Film about Ayrton Senna 😎
Senna vs FIA 😄
Already been done by Asif Kapidia, but I'd love to see it.
When senna assassinated Balestre at Germany
Rush 3: Schumacher vs Hakkinen.
@@LiamTalksMotorsport muhahahaha
This movie was f**** awesome. These two have such chemistry. They own every scene they're in!
"He remains the person I envy."😭😭 OMG the ending...
Rest in Peace both of them. Champs. 😢
Thor and Baron Zemo was once in Friendly Rivalry relationship.
They're like Chick Hicks & Lightning McQueen
@L every racer is a rival
Lightning McQueen vs. Chick Hicks & Jackson Storm
Sonic vs. Jet
Tails vs. Wave
Knuckles vs. Storm
Crash vs. Cortex
Coco vs. N. Gin & Nina
Crunch vs. N. Gin & Tiny
Annoying Thing vs. Boss Drone
Mondo Gecko vs. Fishface
I have watched this scene a million times now
Hot damn this movie is good. Infinetly watchable. Came completely out of left field for me, i only watched it the first time out of boredome and boy was I rewarded. Ive seen it a dozen times and i dont plan on stopping.
RIP to two legends. This film is a perfect tribute to both.
Rest In Peace, Niki Lauda and James Hunt. They’re racing in heaven with Ayrton Senna right now.
And damm Jules
'He was among the very few i liked and even fewer that i respected'- goosebumps
This will always one of the best stories I had the pleasure of seeing on film. Two complete opposites in every way with utmost respect for each other. RIP Men
Amazing scene. The yin and yang of two successful male personalities. The nose to the grindstone guy who does things by the book and the live for pleasure guy who is just balls out crazy. Epic scene.
Yin and yang.. perfectly described.
And today Monday the 20th of March 2019 the legend called Niki Lauda died after so many times he won death. I wish the next generations will remember him like on of the best drivers ever lived and they will never forget what he managed to do.
Rest in peace Niki
watching this movie since 2015...the theme is just pure masterpiece! Thank you and RIP Niki and James...and Hans Zimmer for the theme
This scene especially the end brought tears to me, they had the upmost respect for each other, they were friends who were inseparable, it hurts to watch the scene, but so refreshing and bringing light to a rivalry which they kept on the track, and not off it
one day when Niki is called home, James will be waiting for him with a grin on his face and two cars lined up outside the gates of heaven, and God himself will watch them drive.
burn in hell god-denying fucktard, 85% of the world believes in God regardless of what they call him.
@Tyler Roberts ok you have the right to think that
James Hunt ITS JAMES HUNT BACK FROM THE DEAD, WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW
Your comment is awesome.
@@steve4nj Thankfully, this 85% is quickly disappearing, as people start noticing how stupid it is to explain things we don't understand yet as products of a supernatural being.
Now this is how a film is made for the car enthusiasts.
Yes, absolutely.
Those 5 mins will give you a Message for a lifetime.
“You have to die to become a legend, but also living in a extraordinary way to be”
This movie was amazing. I loved this dialogue made this movie. They both hated, loved, respected, believed and inspired each other.
There's a reunion going on somewhere beyond right now. Rest well, Niki.
I hope in time, this film and the actors get their justice... No awards or recognition for such an epic film.
We see crap hero movies constantly. And art like this forgotten 😢
Always gives me goosebumps whenever I watch this ending scene.
Love for both.❤️ RIP🙏
Modern movies can learn a thing or two on how to end a movie from this one...legendary
Hans Zimmer + awesome ending = tears
Anyone gonna talk about the amazing BG music that goes so well with this?
Hans Zimmer, well done
Notice how neither of them are agreeing with each other's mentality on the sport. Just two people adding to their arguments
And the real beauty is that there's truth to both sides. You can choose to follow either and it wouldn't stop you from being champs as both of them ended
that shot at 5:09 gave me goosebumps
Had chills by then too, but i think it was the lead up to it that did it for me
There is no way that was historical. They had to have shot it for the movie because that shot was too fucking good.
I can't stop thinking about this shot. I'm coming back to this non stop. I'm happy someone else understands it.
It bring me to tears. Magnificent!
Ron Howard gave us the best racing movie ever. Damn you Ron for replacing Cole Trickle as #1
have a thumb up for mentioning the 2nd best racing movie ever. was the 1st in my eyes till this came out.
"I'm dropping the hammer!" - Cole Trickle.
That was the best racing movie quote..... right up until.....
"Fuck it!" - James Hunt
Its my favorite sports movie ever honestly
@@chriswilliamson4978 Wrong. Until Driven came out.
So no one here has seen Days of Thunder??? LOL
What a great movie--Lauda was incredible! His honesty, resolve, & courage--his principles, can be an archetype for us all
And there, tears rolling down my cheek everytime I watch this scene.
What a master piece from Ron Howard.
Best movie...This scene is really better than entire movie Fast and furious....
This was such a great movie. I truly loved it. Most people don't realize how great of a movie this was. By the way, I don't follow racing.
In November 1994, My pilot from Vienna to Singapore was, Racing Legend, Niki Lauda. Being a Formula 1 fan all my life I was on cloud 9!! My father could not believe it when I told him about it. I was blown away when he did the inflight message and said, "this is your Captain, Niki Lauda speaking" I could not believe my ears. I was so honoured that he was Piloting the plane.
Damn that would send chills down my spine for the good reasons not fear but admiration. To be flown By Niki that is a dream of any race fan.
The last 5 minutes of the movie speak SO much about each one's ideals and morality. It's beautiful. If you're a fan of F1 you MUST see this movie, no doubt.
