      Look up Gallagher. He was a comedian from the 80s who used to smash different fruit & food during performances and get it all over the audience. I’m talking grapes, strawberries, watermelon, cakes, cantaloupe. It was AMAZING and he was a comedy genius. He passed away last year. RIP Gallagher!

      When I saw the dragon fruit, I was surprised. I know some people like to cut it like that, but I grew up just cutting it in half, then scooping the flesh out to eat, while using the peel as a bowl, at least, that's what my grandma did
      P.s, I still stay true to this method, since in my opinion, you waste even less of the fruit, since they are very expensive, though they are much sweeter and cheaper in Chinatowns.

    • @sebaschan-uwu

      A chef would know how to avoid food waste. But in restaurants their main goal is to produce a dish, not prevent food waste. No restaurant would sell candied watermelon rinds.

    important note about the prickly pear, the one he sliced in this video already had the spikes removed, if you find one growing you need to remove them yourself (you can find methods online) and DO NOT touch it before you have, even if it doesn't look like there are spikes where you're grabbing there are incredibly small ones covering the entire thing in addition to the big ones that you can see, use tongs instead
    if you find one in a store it probably has the spikes removed already

    • @bladenot-runner1795
      @bladenot-runner1795 2 개월 전

      I found this out the hard way the first time I harvested them. My favorite method so far has been to harvest them with tongs, burn off the quills, then wash, peel, scoop out the seeds, and eat. It's a hassle, but the store-bought ones taste terrible in comparison, lol.

      Pomegranates actually have rough sections, in a star shape. If you look on the bottom you can sometimes see where to cut--if you cut them in the right spots, it's pretty easy to pull out whole chunks of seeds at a time

    The persimmon he was cutting was a non-astringent Japanese variety, surprised that he didn't know that. Those do not have the affect he was describing and you can eat them even with the consistency of an apple. For the pomegranate he stated he was going to show 2 ways, but only showed one, editing failed on that one hehe. Enjoyed the video.

If you did take the time to watch the video, he says “Most/some people just cut it [this way] and eat it.” So he’s choosing to show only one way for these other fruits. So how about you go learn some 1st grade vocabulary before you go calling people ungrateful for idiotic reasons.

      Here's a better way:
      Cut pomegranate in half and fill a bowl with water. Use your hands to remove every seed (it's actually super easy).
      The seeds sink, but the white film stuff will float, so ya just gotta skim off the top layer from the water, strain it, and yeah.

      lyliiz i’ve never heard of that method for pomegranate. what i always do is take a paring knife, and cut down at an angle around the flower at the top to get that top stem part out, and from there it’s pretty easy to pull it apart into four sections of the fruit. it’s a little time consuming and messy to eat but i’ve always found it pretty rewarding in the end lol

    I find it more efficient to peel the cantaloupe after slicing it (if the skin isn't full of dirt of course). hold the knife flat and just rock the segment as you go, makes you lose much less flesh, or you can just hold the segment with the skin and eat it like that, it's juicy so you'll end up with less mess on your fingers. At least that's how we do it in france !
