@David Krappenschitz If you don't expand the playoffs the only teams that will have a chance to compete in the playoffs are Power 5 teams. How fair is that? NCAA FBS should AT LEAST open up 2 to 4 more slots to allow the opportunity for non-Power 5 teams.

Nah, if you actually watched the game they showed another angle where you could see the ball and the goal line clearly. For whatever reason, the RB reached his hand backwards with the ball and then dropped it, so it never crossed the goal line. It was called on the field and reviewed, so no controversy there. Amazing game!

The ball has to cross the line, not the guy. You can see that it was Libertys intention to score. Their QB walks up to the line and leans back to not score. Ironically the CCU guys are actually trying to push him over the line.

@@Reloading20 it was because they didn't want to score. Liberty's intention was to run the clock down and kick a game winning field goal, while Coastal was smart enough to see what they were trying to do, and tried dragging him in.

It was a touchdown for liberty on the last drive anyway. The game should have ended in regulation.

You can see on the replay his arm let go of the ball and then roll back across the line. He was definitely in and it was a touchdown. I agree though, boneheaded play. Either take a knee or run it in, you can't do both.

It’s a new style that is the equivalent of hack-a-Shaq basketball. I’m not a fan....
Basically you know you’re going to score, but you know your defense is trash so you take as much time as possible off the clock and then score a FG in the final seconds.
If they were good team, they’d score a TD and then have their defense make stops.

Liberty beat two power 5 schools this year... They were ranked the entire season until they barely lost their one and only game to NC State. Coastal hadn’t really played anyone huge minus BYU.

In the ap poll liberty is ranked. Liberty wasn't a terrible team they lost the one game by 1 point in a blocked field goal. On a side note that would've been great for their program has they won because then they would've got the same deal as ND with the acc and play 5 acc teams every year

This game could have very easily been a battle of the unbeatens.

They had 34 sacks in 12 games, 13 ints and over 25 total turnovers only allowing over like 19 a game how’s that overrated. Yes they should of put a QB spy on Willis but the defense has been good pretty much all year. So you really don’t know what your talking about look up the stats to tell

Yeah, because that's how sports work. That's why we dont have seasons and we just give the championship to whichever team has the best roster. That's why in basketball when the overall 1 seed Virginia loses to a terrible 16 seed they just put Virginia back in for the final four. Its not because of how coastal played today, its actually:
- Because the committee favor teams with large football fanbases and big market conferences to help generate TV revenue over wins. 6-3 Texas is ranked over 9-1 liberty.
- The committee also uses an inconsistent criteria when evaluating teams when rewarding wins and losses? Yeah they like to credit the p5 schools for losing to ranked p5 schools, discredit g5 schools for losing to ranked p5 schools. Lose your conference championship? come on Down Notre Dame. Only win 6 games? 1 of which being against a team with a winning record prior to the big ten championship? Come on in OSU! those SOS arguments used for years suddenly don't apply to you.
- Because teams like this don't have the luxury of overrated conference opponents that start in the preseason polls to bolster SOS? Michigan, Penn State, FSU, USC, Auburn, etc.
- Teams like this also don't get the luxury of high placement to begin their season either. Like in week 5 when OSU started at #6.
- Because teams like this don't get the same benefit of doubt after losing games like Florida did when they Lost to unranked LSU and dropped 1 spot in the polls.
- [edit] Because P5 schools continue to poach coaches from g5 schools creating instability. No surprise you see no consistency from them.
- [edit] Because recruiting ranking sites tend to markdown recruits that commit to g5 teams and markup p5 commits. Boise states success this decade is obvious but they never landed a top 50 recruiting class in the last 10 years? But the 2018 2-10 Arkansas team that lost by 27 to north texas pulls a top 30 class? - Because teams like this are always told that they need to schedule tougher opponents but everyone forgets there's about 130 teams and it's highly improbable for a team like this to be lucky enough to have that kind of schedule, thus eliminating more than 50% of the field from playoff contention?
Teams lose out on playoff spots the moments schedules are finalized and the preseason top 25 is released dude

As much as I loved the boise state team that beat Oklahoma, the ucf team that beat auburn, and the little guys basically.... I have to admit, this was not the same team level that boise or ucf put up in the past. Ccu would have gotten trainewrecked by ANY of the playoff teams. Bama by 45, clemson by 42, Ohio by 35, notre dame by 28. Being realistic. Could doesn't have anywhere near the offensive firepower to compete. The boise st team that beat Oklahoma would have blown this ccu team out. Same with the ucf team over auburn. They had a star quarterback and some receivers and ran the right system. Boise had their trick plays and odd formations and a qb that was good and made the nfl. This comment is not to hate on ccu, but to give an honest opinion.
