When has it EVER been okay for one conference to alter rules mid season to guarantee they get a team in? When has another conference been allowed to field a team in the playoffs who had opportunities to reschedule a game or find another opponent ( in the case of the Michigan game). They should have had to honor the same guidelines across the board.

Now why was that stupid, to such an extent that you look dumb for supporting it? Ohio State, if pushed to it, could have called up Michigan, the team running from them due to COVID, and said "we forfeit, you win". That would have made them 5-1. And that would have put them in the title game, even with everyone else.
And that then, 6-1 buckeye squad, would have made the CFP semis too, given who else was there to get in.
It makes no sense, and it took it to become a problem, for them to actually address the problem with the previous system, and move to a better one. Of course the 5-0 squad should get in, if the 5-1 squad of them would also.

@S Ragsdale just carry on. Didn’t Clemson and ND have their last weeks games cancelled to let them prepare for the conference championship? Multiple games were postponed in the SEC. They just started soon enough to have make up dates built in. And that’s literally because you didn’t care about the health of the athletes. If Bama or Clemson had been in the same situation you would have wanted in and expected to be in. It would be the you can only control what you can control argument. @S Ragsdale Ohio State didnt make the terrible decisions made by the Big10 (specifically commissioner Kevin Warren). As a matter of fact, OSU (and Nebraska) were the only schools in the BIG who went full throttle lobbying for the season to happen. Only 1 game was cancelled because of OSU Covid issues. They played their last 2 games of the season missing over 20 scholarship players, including their entire O-line in one game and many other starters/key players in both games. They also played Clemson with their starting guard and D-end out, plus their top backup d-end out.
To blame OSU for anything around Covid rules and the BIG conference mishandling of nearly everything about the season is ludicrous. They showed from Day 1 and all during the season, they wanted to and have been willing to line up and play

We don't know which other osu players still have COVID and test negative just because its early in their stage (ever heard of something called 'incubation period?'). Postponing the game is to protect other players and coaching staff including Alabama.

And that’s why OSU defensive line has it now. The OL & DL are the only ones breathing ontop of each other all game. Everyone else is socially distanced for the most part aside from brief collisions spaced throughout.

@@xxGhostfreak11 The problem is the same issue that put OhSt in the CFP to start with.... OHSt didn't play the games avoid injuries like Fields and had the rules bent for them. If it is truly just COVID then I am okay with the delay. But here is the issue, the BIG10 has a 17 day quarantine requirement (lowered from 21 for OhSt.). This means to play on the 18th, those players would have been infected when OhSt played Clemson on Jan1. Jan 1 + 17 days = 18th. So was the position group sick or not while playing Clemson? If the test was positive on the 2nd those players could not return until the 19th... which is after the rescheduled date.
So if it is about COVID and not Fields, did OhSt break protocol to play Clemson or are they changing their 17 day rule again?
This was simply about Fields. The postponement request was leaked and people called them out and the story was walked back.
Do I want both teams at full strength, yes but OhSt played so few games and avoided injuries like Fields took. If Fields took an injury and OhSt played a full schedule and played say Michigan, would OhSt beat them? It isn't about scared... it is about consequences of actually playing games and the rules bending to get the BIG10's darling a win at all cost.

I heard the virus thrives in cold weather. It was expected to get worse again during the winter. Alabama has warmer weather than we do. That would explain why Bama and other southern schools are not being affected as much as OSU.

This is a dumb accusation. It would be a death penalty if it ever got out. Too many people would have to stay quiet. They would be risking the entire 150 year reputation of the institution to gain an advantage on a football field for one game. Recruiting would be impossible after such a ploy. You can't honestly believe getting Justin Fields from 20% more healthy outweigh the risks, can you? You can't honestly think that the entire OSU athletic department, Ryan Day and the players involved would all think this is a good idea and go along with it.
