Florida players from last night were 63% Freshman and Sophmore.
Oklahoma players from last night were 61% Freshman and Sophmore.
Both teams played two 5 star players (according to 247 Sports).
Florida had seventeen 4 star players and Oklahoma had nineteen 4 star players (Oklahoma had more players, but fairly equal).
Both teams played two 3 star players, but one of the 2 from Florida was a Heisman candidate (Whether you care for him or not, he's a Heisman Trophy Candidate).
The average star ranking of the players from last night was as follows:
Florida: 3.81
Oklahoma: 3.74
You can continue to make excuses about missing players, but the talent level on the field was equal according to publications, so either one of two things:
1. Florida doesn't recruit as well as OU.
2. Florida doesn't develop their players as well as OU.
Again, I know that Florida was gutted from what they used this season, but at the same time, they had the same level of talent on the field and got stomped by 5 TD. Kids like Rattler, Mims and others literally have less than a normal season under the belt and kids like Stoops are essentially walk-ons.
They say that players take on the personality of their coach and this guy isn't the personality that Florida football deserves. He is a great coach and poor leader.
Again, I know it's numbers and stars don't always pan out, but most of the time they do. Excuses, excuses, but you lost. If you didn't want to play, why did you accept?
oklahoma had more than two 5 stars on the field. rattler, mcgowan, and trejan off the top of my head, but i believe another wr was a 5 star.
this analysis wasn't very good because where the talent is concentrated matters a lot... having 1 great d linemen doesn't mean the entire line is a wall.

Ous best db was out against florida, they lost their best rb to transfer before the season. Had another opt out for the game. Ou was missing key players for their losses this year, but the coach and fans (well most of them) didn't make excuses.

I really like Oklahoma’s uniforms with those red stripes. Sharp . OU would have beat anyone last night. Just to complete even with 7 of their top players out and losing their best running back until now to Ohio State. Tre Sermons. OU proving whoever they put out their can beat you with a freshman quarterback and wide receiver.
The game was really close-until kickoff.
Caca Detoro Oklahoma had lost several great players including Trey Sermons to Ohio State. Imagine if we had him too. And that all American tight end and defense back and Pledger that great running back out too.

Missing receivers had nothing to do with allowing over 400 yards on the ground, either. Florida defense has been bad against the run all year and they got exposed...pure and simple.

They only played that well against us because of penalties. Moses being hurt (as we found out recently) and getting beat then grabbing and holding which caused pass interference penalties allowed them to move down the field multiple times.

OU offense: 2.8 (2 freshman, 2 seniors)
Florida offense: 2.9 (2 freshman, 5 seniors)
OU defense: 2.5 (no seniors)
Florida defense: 2.75 (3 seniors).
Also to note: 12 Florida defensive players played in BOTH the SEC championship game AND the Cotton Bowl.

The SEC gets exposed every year. They always claim to be the best, but only Bama is consistently good and then 1 other team is good on a given year. LSU national champs and then trash the next year. Honestly I don't know why people try to brag about conferences anyways, kind of weird.

The SEC has 4-5 teams in the top 10 in recruiting every year, which no other conference gets close to. The SEC has the most playoff contending teams every year. Once again the casuals think a meaningless bowl game ( where UF had 11 starters out lol ) actually matters. Just get over it the SEC is college football aside from Clemson/Ohio State.

@@Offwhitekeyboard the reason those 4 or 5 teams get ranked where they do is because of the perception that the SEC conference is stronger top to bottom when it's very much possible those teams are no better than a second tier Big12 or B10 team but the SEC doesn't make it a habit of scheduling out of conference games with other P5 conferences on a regular basis so they live on their own little island beating up on the Citadel and they keep that image. I'm not suggesting other conference aren't guilty of the same thing but the SEC plays one less conference game than the Big12 and B10 and almost always schedules a cupcake game in November. Since the rankings are based heavily on strength of schedule, SEC teams are ranked disproportionately higher because of the perception that they play a tougher schedule when that may not be the case on a season by season basis and the cycle repeats. The only even basis for comparison is bowl games which the SEC conveniently likes to "opt out of" or call "meaningless" when they lose in order to perpetuate this self-serving cycle that only benefits them.

Like Mullen said, the last real game the team played was against Alabama. This was like an exhibition game with players who have barely seen the field. With all the opt outs and players not playing they should've just opted out of the game entirely. Although watching a complete Florida team plowing through Oklahoma would have been fun, it is what it is. Great job on beating a JV team tho!

Doubt it. People know the SEC as a whole isn't as great as they're hyped up to be. The do know Bama carries the conference and other teams jump on their back. Outside of LSU last year, it has been this way for a while.

It's difficult when players either opt out or are academically ineligible to play. UGA winning it's bowl game just helps the program, and it's game with Cincinnati was probably the best of the bowl games. Players need to realize that if they don't play, it hurts future recruiting.
