      I like the idea, but don't know if they're ready to go that far yet. I think one of the problems is that the committee also determines strength of schedule and ranks the teams according to their own "flexible" criteria. This helps the power 5 reps on the committee to stack the deck on conferences with the most teams ranked in the top 25.
      I would like the NCAA to stop the neutral site and, 2 vs 1, payday scheduling the power 5 are engaged in. These methods ensure it being extremely unlikely that an Alabama playing Boise St on the smurf turf or Ohio State playing in Orlando against UCF. Those group of 5 schools could increase their national perception with home noncon games that are more winnable since they are usually early season games. Every series should be home and home. Group of 5 can help build their brands that way. BUT power 5 and ND will never let that happen because of what they could lose... Revenue, Perception, and Recruits.

      @timmeyer9191 3 년 전

      @@SuperSirianRigel well, in order to get an 8 team playoff to work, they would probably need to lose one regular season game (for finals and other academic purposes) and have game 12/13 something like the Big Ten did this year during Champions' week when the conference title game was played yet the other teams also got a TBD 9th game.
      Also, all the conferences should do away with divisions and play something close to round robin with 1-2 guaranteed rivalry games and at least 9 conference games. This would help get the 2 best teams in the conference finals instead of leaders of strong and weak divisions. Conference title games could serve as elimination games for spots in the playoffs for the losers.
      Still, there's too much money in the bowl system. Would an expanded playoff make those other bowls even more obsolete?
      I think the first baby step would have to be the elimination of divisions to help get head to head match ups between the 2 best teams (rematch or not) in the conference title games. If that happened this year, we would have seen an undefeated Alabama/1 loss A&M rematch in the SEC title game rather than a 2 loss Florida team who got in because they played in the East division.

  • @timmeyer9191
    @timmeyer9191 3 년 전

    I agree that the CFP committee is a bit biased towards Power 5 and ND. Probably because the committee has many members with ties to those conferences.
    But the biggest issue is there is always a general assumption that while there are some decent teams at the top, the rest of the group of 5 conferences are weaker than the lower teams of the power 5.
    Sure they could expand the playoffs, but it may still be possible to better the chances a group of 5 team can get in. I have 2 suggestions.
    1. The NCAA should stop the payout games vs group of 5, where an Alabama pays a million dollars to Boise State to come to Tuscaloosa without a return trip to Boise ID.
    Outside the conference schedule, each FBS team should be allowed only 1 regular season neutral site game (unless it has to be moved because of a hurricane or other disaster) and 1 home game vs an FCS school (unless there is a cancellation by your opponent and you need the fill the slot but only if your school didn't cancel). All other games vs FBS should be home and home series, my place then your place- No exceptions!
    The reason is that early non conference games tend to favor the home teams. If more power 5 teams had to travel to Boise St or UCF, the chances are greater that the group of 5 team might win. These small increases in wins would help the group of 5 increase their brands and therefore help with recruiting and perception that those conferences could be just as strong as the Big 12 or Pac 12.
    2. The second thing to be done is the elimination of conference divisions. Every conference should play 9 conference games in a more round robin format with 1-2 guaranteed rivalry games. It would be similar to the Big 12 system.
    This would help put the 2 best in conf title games and more likely eliminate the loser from playoff contention.
    If that was done this year, the SEC championship would have been undefeated Alabama vs 1 loss A&M. 2 loss Florida would not have played. If Florida hadn't lost to LSU, A&M would have still been in the title game because there was a head to head win vs Florida.
    Of course there are going to be times when there are 3 or 4 one loss teams in a conference by the end of a season, so head to head match ups, margin of victories, and rankings should be taken into consideration in those instances.
    Before we expand the playoffs and lengthen the season for these students, let's try these options to try to help balance the field.

College football need to stop having these future schedules. Make your schedule for the next season during t hff e offseasons. Cincinnati and Coastal want respect play Power 5 Top 25. Cincinnati play Notre Dame and Indiana next year. If they beat them and go undefeated.. they should be in. I remember UCF soft schedule.... UCF is nowhere to be found now. Group of 5 teams gotta play top power 5 teams yearly to get respected and the schools in the Group of 5 gotta be winning as well.
