BYU essentially played the whole 2nd team defense most of the second half. Sitake is a gentlemen to not lay 70+ points on UCF/Heupel on this big victory.
This was not even a fair match up. BYU deserved to play a ranked opponent, also deserves to be a higher rank themselves.

@@cornellmelton5092 They would if they could, but the CFP doesn't like them, because they were a independent team no one had heard of that won the national championship. They were the reason they made the committee, so it couldn't happen again. When the committee got sued by the independent and small conferences, the coach at BYU, Lavell Edwards, testified against them, making them dislike them even more.

BYU had a great season, they were clearly much better than a good UCF as well as everyone else they played (except coastal) however they had far fewer practices than coastal before the game, had t fly like 2000 miles were probably exhausted, barely made it in time for the game, and got less sleep then would be preferred and still only lost by one yard

This was basically a home game for UCF. If this doesn't show that BYU should be in the New Years Six Bowl instead of Cincinnati, I don't know what does.
Conncinatti deserved to be in a new year six bowl. Undeafeted. Conference champs. And then we got BYU. One loss to the one good team they played and nothing else really notable besides there best season in a while. BYU didnt need to be in a new year six.

Guys Cincinnati beat this team 36-33 and we were winning 42-10 in the start of the third call me salty but we blow out coastal if we have a week to prepare
BYU was down by 12 to Houston and beat UTSA by 7 and lost to the one decent team they faced gone somewhere with that

See, I'm not really sure if it is that. I honestly think BYU lost because of ego. Come into a game automatically believing you will win and well you'll lose. You can't take anyone for granted. Also, Coastal is just as underrated. They've been great too. Now, that being said, I do think BYU deserves a slightly higher ranking. I'd have given BYU at most a New Year Six. My personal ranking? I'd say between 9 and 11. But that's it.

This was a really good BYU team. They could run the ball with power and was able to pass it with consistency.

I think he will be a good pro player also. Needs another 10 pounds of muscle. And he has had a lot time in the pocket this year, he is going to have to learn to get rid of the ball quicker in the pros. He has been deadly accurate all year though, especially on the long ball.

@@shaneleonard2504 I don't necessarily agree with that. With that said, I think there will be GM's and Coaches who would take him over Fields. For Fields, it's going to come down to how well he plays during the CFP. Wilson has the tools, but hasn't really played anyone. This is just my own personal opinion, but if the Jets do stay at #2, you either trade the pick or go after Sewell. While the Jets have a good LT already, you could move Sewell to guard or RT for a time. One thing is for sure. Wilson helped his draft stock tremendously with this win.

I think this game right here shows that BYU is better than any team that the American Conference has on the field this season including Cincinnati. Every game UCF lost this year was by 7 pts or less and BYU just blew the doors off UCF.

Not a bad year, in a bad year. Wilson is exciting, frankly I don't think he makes it in the pros but that's a different discussion - great season nonetheless. Algeier is the guy who just kept punching all season long and broke off some serious yards. That opened the field a lot for all the TE passes for TDs etc. TEs made this season for BYU as a key factor. It just hasn't been there for years, and to have several who stood out made a big difference.

I see why it’s so hard to evaluate college QBs. Their receivers are so wide open you wonder about decision making in the NFL. Coverage and defenses are way better. It’s easy with guys running wide open to hit them with clean pocket but the NFL WRs won’t be wide open and you won’t have all day to wait. Wilson looks decent but more of NFL back up than a starter.

If byu would join the PAC I would fully accept that. I ain’t a fan, but they need a bigger and better schedule. I understand Covid knocked out all their power 5 teams this year. They need to be in a power 5 conference. Being independent ain’t doing nothing for them.
I would have liked to have seen it years ago, when the PAC-10 expanded. But, the story is that a number of schools (CAL and?) refused to allow a conservative/religeous university to join their ranks. BYU was/is not liberal enough for their tastes.

That is just an ignorant statement, BYU never ducked Washington, Washington never had any intention of playing that game; In fact, Washington had Utah scheduled for the same time they were negotiating for and it was only for appearances in the hope of boosting washington's image for the polls.
