Ohio State in the beginning did some things but when the game mattered ohio State couldn't stop Alabama. After ohio State got the field goal instead of td I knew it was over. Alabama great team
As soon as Fields was down by 2 TDs, he gave up. You could see it in his face on the sidelines. Going to the locker room at the half, he was completely beaten. The whole team keyed off his attitude.
I agree I knew the game would be over after that field goal by Ohio State. They go for the touchdown and make it, different ball game.
@aaron short What I stated was a FACT. Every defeat has a mechanism by which it happens. Alabama was able to take Fields out of the game mentally and that team lacked the ability to compensate for that and the coaches had no plan for it. Somehow you seem to be under the impression that I'm an Ohio fan making excuses. I didn't do anything of the sort. I strongly question your reading comprehension ability.
Bama had been the most consistent team. I'm going with Bama.

I did a little research on Alabama's football record over the last 60 years. I started there because Coach Paul Bryant won his first one in 1961. In that time, Bama has won 12 national championships. They've had 11 other seasons in which they lost only one game. In several of those years, they went undefeated until they lost their bowl game or a national championship game. So Bama was just one win per season from having 24 championships.
They've had 12 other years in which they lost two games. So that's 35 of the last 60 years where they've lost two or fewer games.
I know of a game they can lose this year.

@@aaravgala6089 Alabama has kicked a total of 13 field goals all season. No way they get held to 3 point drives... The offense is just far to versatile in multiple ways. Alabama could easily drop 50+ tommorow night, and that's not to say OSU cant do the same.

The Buckeyes proved unpredictable against Clemson. The 5 game season lends to plenty wrinkles & unknown variables. Advantage OSU.
That Clemson game was their super bowl... Really difficult for ANY team to get up and play that flawlessly 2 games in a row. Lets also not forget to mention the fact OSU has been very inconsistent all season.

And he wants you to believe that it is an advantage for Alabama to have played a lot more games than OSU. It is an advantage for Alabama to play a more rested, more healthy team in OSU than they are. Let me help you Herbie. If Alabama was just playing their 8th game of the year like OSU they would still have their unanimous 1st team All-American, Remington Award-winning center Landon Dickerson. He is not only the QB of the line. He is not only the leader of the O-line. He is the heart and soul of the Alabama offense. Not #10, not #22, not even #6. It is #69 and he won't be able to play. He was lost for the season in UAs 11th game but was healthy and dominating in his 8th game.
Same for UAs super FR DB M Moore, now lost, but healthy and playing great in game #8.
Also, normally after the SEC Champ game, Alabama would have three weeks to rest, recover and get healthy from their season before the CFP semis. This year they barely had over a week. Same for OSU but after having only played 7 games, they didn't need the extra rest. It was like having a mid-season off week for OSU.
So, I don't think any person knowledgeable about football would agree with Herbie that being more beat-up, tired, and having lost more elite players for the season was 'an advantage' for Alabama.
