As a Bama I thought ND had a fairly good game plan. I didn't think they were the type of team that could come from behind a 21 point deficit. And yes, he's right, they had some opportunity and didn't make use of it. ND had a good season, their are other teams out there who'd love to be in ND's position.

The comments I read on social media, even on this video, are completely out of line. I've seen people who haven't watched Notre Dame at all the entire season come onto social media posts and laugh, call people names, act like idiots, etc. It's completely uncalled for and very tiring as an Irish fan. I completely agree with why he got upset, and I would be too!

The difference between ND and the elites (Bama, Clemson and OSU) is simple: elite recruits. That's the remaining gap left for ND before they can actually win playoff games.

You can't just "out physical" teams to win championships in college football anymore. You must have perimeter speed along with being physical on the interior of the o-line and the d-line.
I hate how people act like because you lose you are bad. Notre Dame lost to a much better team that is head and shoulders above everyone not named Ohio st and Clemson and they are better than those two also. They played as well as you could have hoped. They still belonged there. No other team you could have put in that spot would have faired better.
It just may be that Alabama is really that much better than everyone else this year......I happen to think Brian Kelly is an outstanding coach recruiting at a place where the academics for ALL are really intense.....vs other programs where, well, not so much....I am a Nebraska fan

Brian Kelly isn't the problem. I live here in Southbend. We will never be as good as these other top teams. God very rarely gives a man brain and brawn. Notredame educational standards are too high for most every NFL player. That's why Notredame will never be an elite team.
Notre Dame has a good defense but their offense is stuck in 2009. They dont have the downfield threat that you need to be competitive in today's game.

This is what I talk about when it comes to Bama, Ohio State and Clemson they have elite talent on the perimeter on both sides of the ball. Notre Dame can play in the trenches now thats a plus. The last time Kelly had a guy that really demanded alot of attention on the outside was Will Fuller. Those other teams I just mentioned is rolling those type of wide receivers out every single year Bama has three of them actually four of them two of them got drafted in the first round last year and they got two more first round draft picks this year at wideout. Dont get me started at QB for Notre Dame Book is good just not Elite he cant consistently throw from the pocket which hurts this team. Kelly you recruit great linemen that are becoming good pro players but since Kiser all your QB's are small and cant perform from the pocket and again this year your top QB recruit is 5'11 or 6 feet tall you want them to throw over 6'5 6'6 linemen it doesn't make any sense you are not running a spread offense you are a pro style team you need a QB that is at least 6'3 and up that can look down field from the pocket just look at Bama Clemson and Ohio State's QB's they are all big and can throw from the pocket you will not compete with these teams until you fix these problems. Look I get it you are tired of these questions that are about your teams talent level to be honest this is the most physical team you have ever had and Hamilton is my favorite player on the team. He is an Elite player and a future first round pick in my opinion.

Ummm I agree with what you said until you telling him to recruit a 6’3 QB it’s not the height problem. Notre Dame gets mobile QB’s so they can hit you with the run eventually get the PA move the QB outside the pockets with Boots/Slide PA and complete those throws. They simply aren’t talented enough and don’t have enough debt. Brian coaches great but it’s the program. Not enough kids grow up and say I want to play At Notre Dame like wth where do you even hear that.

I'm a Bama fan but I thought the questions were harsh, don't blame him for his attitude. I think Notre Dame played well, they competed and they were good on both sides of the ball. I think they deserve more credit than they're getting, they fought hard and competed on a high level. Alabama has played with a sizeable chip on their shoulder all season because of the way we felt disrespected by the committee last year and we've had something to prove because of that blatant disrespect. They only thing that I felt hurt Notre Dame most was they tried to eat up the clock, make long and drawn out drives to keep Alabama off the field but one I know was more than 7 minutes and another was more than 4 so in the end I think that hurt them.
ND wasn’t in this game really the whole game. However, who else deserved to be in this game? Maybe Texas A&M? They lost by 28 to Bama. No one else other than Ohio State has competed with Bama and Clemson CONSISTENTLY these last 5 years. No one. Basically every other team over these years has lost by these margins to both Bama and Clemson. These two teams have blown out everyone not just ND.

From 15:00 in the 1st quarter, it felt like Alabama was playing an FCS opponent. There was literally no point in that game where Alabama really had to "play" after the first two scores.

Wether he likes it or not, the reality is ND is somewhere around the 10th team in the country. The recruiting bears that out as well as the results against teams who ARE at the elite level. To say ND will continue to get back to the playoff when it is clearly not on that level is what bothers college football fans. Until the playoff expands, ND is taking a spot it does not deserve.
Dodging the question. ND lacked the athleticism to compete with Bama so the question of what does he do to bridge that gap was a fair one.
I wonder how ND would fair in the Big Ten? The ACC was pretty weak this year. ND’s only tough opponent was Clemson. And maybe NC.

Brian Kelly is getting a lot of unnecessary hate for this. He’s absolutely right. Every sports fan expects every team to be in the same league as an Alabama or New England prior to 2020 and it’s just not reality. Having a chance to win is all you can do in sports. The rest is won and lost by how good you are relative to your competition and on the field after. Sports fans repeatedly hold teams to unrealistic standards and it’s easily the most annoying part of debating sports.
Sometimes, you just get beat. Alabama was the physically/athletically dominant team, plain and simple. Not tough to explain. Nothing to see here. Move along.

@@jayy88 Cinncy is good, but with their schedule, a lot of good teams would look “legit”. They don’t play anybody. Unfortunately there’s no good answer this year for the four spot. A&M already got clobbered by Bama, Florida lost to A&M, and CC had the same issue as Cinncy - weak schedule. ND spilt with Clemson, went undefeated in the regular season, and hadn’t had a shot at Bama, so I think the committee thought it made the most sense to put them in. I can’t disagree.
People want to expand the playoffs, but that just means allowing increasing mediocrity and more lopsided games.
@@John_Hoover They got in because they are ND. If you switched Cinncy and ND im almost certain ND would have got in undefeated. Ohio stated did playing half a schedule playing okay to poor teams.
@@jayy88 I agree with OSU. They showed up big last night but 6-0 is a lot easier than 11-0. Heck, than 10-1 with many schedules.

Ahhhh I don't know what game he was watching. Alabama had a lot of back ups in very early in the 4th and Nick Saban even pointed out they took their foot off the gas, I'm guessing and this is my opinion, but saving some for next game. Alabama was never in danger of losing the lead. I like Notre Dame and Brian Kelly, but if you watched this game and didn't think Notre Dame wasn't 2 or 3 steps behind you don't know anything about football. Just admit that to yourself. There are very few things that are dynamic about the Irish offense. This is the 3rd time This team and This QB have failed to break 20 points. You will not beat anyone in the top 4 playing that kind of bland power I or 2TE sets football. You can say, " well we have academic standards!". Yeah when's the last time 90,000 people showed up for f@$king chemistry experiment? This should and I believe will hurt their future playoff selection chances.

I think it's good when Southern Cal, Michigan, Texas, Oregon etc are good. In College if you had a great coach you were guaranteed to be in the top 2-3 every year. Now you have to have elite QB play and book isn't that. Kelly tried to emulate the 12' Alabama physical team. Those teams can't win today so adapt or die.

Brian Kelly doesn't deserve another year at Notre Dame. He has had eleven years to get it right but he and his coach staff have come out on the wrong end of the results.

Texas A&M is more deserving of having been in the CFP than Notre Dame! As noted Saban called off the dogs early in the third period, but Notre Dame continued to play their starting lineup, rather than let underclassmen get a chance to play.

Texas A&M lost to Bama by 28 points. They wouldn’t have done any better
Notre Dame beat #1 Clemson and had a 10-0 regular season. Texas A&M did not deserve the #4 spot.

Saban learned in 2014 when his players talked trash on the record about Ohio State jumping what was it like 10 rankings to get in the top 4? And they got dominated. The score was a touchdown difference but OSU controlled that game.
He's the smartest coach of the 3 and that's why he's not said a word about any of this. Spend time worrying about your program, not others, like Brian Kelly likes to do with the blame game, and you'll win like Alabama.

All Bama’s players do a media class and freshmen aren’t allowed to do interviews. For context, go look at Quinnen Williams who slipped up during an interview about Kyler Murray for the playoffs then stopped mid sentence when he realized it. Comedy gold.
