NCAA FBS football is bonkers firing, hiring, and paying out millions of dollars to former coaches. Like one other posted here; Texas has not been the same since they (foolishly) fired Mac Brown several years ago. This year, Auburn did the same by firing Gus Malzahn, another coach with a winning record. There are many more firings certainly that have occurred. Where does this end? Do boosters and alumni realize this is gutting any program loyalty to these schools. What kind of message are you giving all these athletes too? Money, winning records are ALL that matters.

Texas needs stability. When you turn over coaches a lot it is hard build a good program. Charlie was there three and Herman four.
Firing a coach in a COVID year seems like a bad decision unless there is something terribly wrong.
They are going to pay big money for the latest "hot coach". They have failed twice now with Charlie Strong and Herman. Charlie had the more impressive resume coming into the job. He had two good years at Louisville. Herman had one good year at Houston. Sarkesian had some very mediocre years at Washington and I don't know what to think about his time at USC. LSU settled for Orgeron and won a national title. Clemson promoted the receivers coach and have won two national championships.

The culture problem is the crony money donors. They got upset in October that TH didn't force our team to stay on-field long enough to sing Eyes of Texas (after OU's alma mater), then they started dreaming & pushing for Urban Meyer, and the whole political landscape went to sh*t (and uncertainty about TH's future, as well as the "EoT white culture" turned off some recruits), which enabled negative recruiting by rivals. Coaching was good, but the narrow losses and QB de-comit were a convenient excuse for the donors to push out TH.

If you Coach Herman would have done this at Houston, Coastal Carolina, etc., all he would be doing is actively acclimating his next recruiting class!!! At Texas, Michigan, etc, one bad season, whispers echo about replacing you. Two seasons, blowhorns shout, replace him......in Coach Herman's case......you 4 winning seasons, and a winning record in 4 bowl games. Coaches like Luke Fickel
at Cincinnati, he turned a Big Ten job, to stay where is doing well. If he has a bad season, he is likely to stay and have some type of job security, at a Power 5 school, the job security is pretty much GONE!!!!! Let's see how long Texas will tolerate Steve Sarkisian.
