I watched him play live in the FCS championship last year and I think he’s overhyped. Yes he’s a great mobile QB and his decision making is excellent with so few INTs, but he’s not the kind of QB that can thread the needle into tight coverage when there isn’t a wide open man or an opportunity to scramble. And you have to be able to do that to be successful in the NFL
Look at 20 of the starting qbs out of the 32 who actually can thread the needle
Finally, every other FCS team actually has a chance this spring.

NDSU just needs to fully join the big 12 (the already are in wrestling) and play D1.
A guy like this has to go somewhere where's it's a good environment an good coaching. An doesn't have to start right away. Something like what A-Rod did when he came into the league.

Think really depends on where it is he ends up being drafted I think that will dictate his decision...if he goes to somewhere he's going to play from day one and the whole organization puts everything on his back and it's just a bad organization so it's not down to QB I.E Detroit Lions (Matt Stanford) I think that's where it'll prove to be a wrong decision but if he goes to a stable organization Falcons,Panthers Or even Denver even with their history of drafting QB's of late or the 49ers and he can sit behind an experienced pro for maybe a year and has a good coach that can whiteboard him then it will have proved to have been a great decision...again only time will tell

@@ericks64 because he can go 1 next year and mature. That is one of the biggest deficits for young quarterbacks as their brain is still developing. I guess he can just start behind someone and learn for a couple years but not sure what would happen if he starts right out the gate

The NFL Draft eligibility limit needs to be pushed back to at least to be a RS Jr or true Jr to enter the draft. A QB with only 2 years of playing time is not ready & hasn't played enough tough football to have a smooth transition.
I would imagine that any team looking to draft him are planning on having him sit behind a veteran for at the very least a year

To the 3 guys doing this vid. NDSU has an outstanding football program. They have beaten 6 FBS schools going back to, I think it was 2008 when they beat the gophers. That coach, Craig Bohls, is now in his 6th season with the Wyoming Cowboys, the QB Brock Jensen, beat the Hawkeye in 2012, then played 5 yrs in the CFL. The new head coach Chris Klieman, & new QB Carson Wentz beat the Hawkeyes again in 2014. I can't remember which coach & QB beat the Kansas Jay Hawks & the Kansas St. Wild cats. I do know that coach Klieman left NDSU to become the head coach at K- State. Enter new head coach Matt Entz & QB Easton Stick, he lost the first ever meeting with JMU, in the semi finals BBUUT met them the following yr in the title game & beat them this time. Oh JMU's QB at the time is now a QB for the Dallas Cowboys. Easton was drafted by the chargers, although he is a bench setter. And I haven't even mentioned all the line men who have made it to the NFL. I think 2 RB's are on practice squads. WR Darius Shepard was, or maybe still is on Green Bay's roster. I saw him fumble a kick off return a couple of weeks back, in the 4th qtr when G B needed to score to win. They lost, so maybe Darius got axed, IDK. Kyle Emanuel played 5 yrs with the chargers, then retired. After a 2 yr retirement, he went back playing for the Raiders. So I think you get it. A very sound program, that I think the NFL looks at & scouts.

To me his still the third best QB out of the class after Lawrence and Fields. Then Zach Wilson is fourth. I honestly could see him going to Denver, Washington or Indianapolis.

You are tripping hard...Trey Lance is an exceptional athlete for sure but he is not a top 5 quarterback in ANY way. Top 3 Quarterbacks are Fields, Jones, and Lawrence whatever order you want to put them in but there the top three. Then its Trask and Mond I don’t know why people keep forgetting about Kellen Mond he is a sleeper pick in my opinion. Then you got Ian Book and Zach Wilson and quite frankly neither of these guys are all that great in my opinion but if you put them in a situation where they can sit and learn behind someone they can be decent backups and possibly decent starters at some point in the future. Then comes Trey Lance. Here’s why tho he’s played exactly 1 season as a starter and yes he has a great freshman season he really did I’m not gonna knock him for that...but so Did Jamies Winston, Johnny Manziel and Deondre Francois and they played better competition then Trey Lance did. North Dakota state has one of the most talented teams in FCS football by far and easily the most talented FCS team in their conference. No one that they play has equal talent to them until the playoffs and typically it’s not until late in the playoffs when they get there first real test. in the NFL everyone is fast everyone is strong and talent is everywhere... I haven’t seen enough from him to consider him a top 3 quarterback this year.
If Trey Lance gets drafted in the 1st round, they'll regret drafting him so early. Think about this, Jalen Hurts got drafted in the 2nd round with a greater body of work and accomplishments. Lance is playing lower tier competition with only one year of starting. Does anyone need reminders on how one year college starters fare in the pros?
Not sure if this kid Is going to be good enough. Would have been nice to see him transfer to a bigger school and see him ball out. I think trey could be good. But it's all about the staff and if they want to invest in you. There were better college qbs who have sizzled out. I'm worried he's listening to yes men telling him that he's going to crush the draft.

They won’t schedule those types of games. As you heard in the video, with their one game season they scheduled Central Arkansas. NDSU will probably try to stay at FCS level for as long as possible. Keep winning Chips, and have low tier FBS teams pay you to come beat them.

NDSU had a game against Oregon scheduled last year pre-COVID. I was not impressed by Oregon and I suspect the Bison would have won.

As to the competition, your comment is still dumb and you might want to take a look at the Missouri Valley conference before making such a comment; they are basically the SEC of FCS. This conference is actually better than several of the lower rated FBS conferences and has a TON of current players in the NFL and has been producing NFL talent for decades. This is also the same conference that the likes of Kurt Warner, Rodney Harrison, Brandon Jacobs, Bart Scott and Brian Cox played in. Not to mention some of the greatest players of all time came out of FCS like Jerry Rice and Walter Payton.
That running back that started last fall in the NFL ,Robertson, came out of FCS Northern illinois, the Red Birds. In the, play off game, can't remember if it was the quarter final or semi final in 2019 he could not make a touch down against NDSU "D" Bison won 9 to 6 two very equally matched teams. The Bison didn't score a TD against them either. I knew if the Red Birds scored one TD they would have won. Wheww they didn't.

@@mistanderson it’s easier to find small school talent in skilled positions than at the QB position. Might take him some years to progress. Lance’s ball placement is inconsistent when his receivers aren’t wide open and Lamar and Kyler are definitely better runners
