Considering the pandemic and Dabo's statements earlier in the year, it was dumb for him to say that when he did. This was a very unique year and the CFP committee chairman made that clear. OSU is a top 4 team and it showed in last night. There will be no asterisk. Accept it
@@gelarojr Once again I'll point out that the CFP committee acknowledged this was a very unique year. OSU had to fight the conference with Nebraksa to get a season and had to deal with strict covid protocol. 9 games scheduled but with fairly high probability of game cancellations with no rescheduling. 3 got cancelled because of covid reasons. Not OSU's fault. OSU beat IU head to head and was the only undefeated team, so the conference made the right call changing that arbitrary rule to give them that opportunity. OSU beat 3 ranked teams and had the conference title.
Dabo back in the summer acknowledged we dont know how many games there will be played so games played shouldn't be factor. The CFP didn't lay any low limit to games played to qualify. The "not enough games" cry was just a cry for other non deserving teams to get in, and perhaps a ready excuse in case Clemson lost.

Dabo is whining that Ohio State is fresher than the rest because they haven’t played enough games to get beat up. Apparently he forgets that Clemson plays in the ACC; a league with only one team other than them (Florida State 2016) over the past 5 years finishing in the Top 10. And he must be forgetting that he schedules non-conference opponents like Furman, the Citadel, and Wofford on a regular basis. And you can darn well bet he would love to get Presbyterian College back on the schedule.

Agree. I'm a Buckeye fan and this sort of thing has gone on for decades with coaches. Dabo is just poking OSU. I get it. I root for my Buckeyes, but this particular year OSU did not play a lot of games. We are not nearly as good as last year's team. Clemson is excellent by any measure. People have to get over this kind of stuff. Woody and Bo used to say far meaner stuff about each other and their programs. People used to get pissed at Bear Bryant for his comments and also because he'd recruit the players he wanted and then recruit the guys you wanted.

You said it. “The Committee held this spot for Ohio State”. Why? They didn’t earn it this year. The two toughest opponents were Indiana and Northwestern, not powerhouses of college football. OSU was given a pass while everyone else had to play to get in. Why? Dani may have an agenda but he also has a point.

I used to root for Dabo. The more successful he has been, the more out of touch he seems. So glad OSU housed them. These coaches start getting 5 star recruits every year, and now think they invented football.

At the end of the day you have to put in the work. Ohio State didn't put in the work and canceled games that other teams went out and played. I'm sure most teams could have canceled multiple games to avoid risking injury or a loss but they didn't. Doesn't really matter because Clemson gonna beat Ohio State same as always. Go Tigers.

Dabo hasn't changed his beliefs on this since the beginning of the season. He gives his honest opinion and people think he is crying. At least with Dabo you don't get lame coach speech. He tells it like he thinks it. We are all entitled to our opinions, and whether you agree with it, you have to respect his openness to share what he really thinks.

Ohio state lost half their season due to some china illness, so WHY was dabo judging them on their record because of games being canceled? He said they only played 6 games and therefore, didn’t have the right to play that game. Why did he rank them 11th, and why did he say they didn’t have the right to play that game you ask? The answer is simple; he wanted NO part of ohio state....and you found out why judging from that beat-down they got issued to them. Smarten up buddy, you can’t even recognize the raging hypocrisy on behalf of dabo(scared of ohio state and rightfully so).
Let’s also consider that clemson has an extremely weak schedule EVERY. SINGLE. SEASON.....it’s not that hard to beat unranked teams every saturday.
Just look at the final rankings... Bama in no question. But OSU beat 2 top 15 teams, Notre Dame beat 2 top 15 teams, but Clemson only beat 1 top 15 team. And they needed the rematch to do it. Their other solid win was vs a top 25 in Miami. Now, personally I feel ND should be out as they couldn't PROVE they're better than Clemson this season and Texas A&M did enough to be there when your only loss is early season Bama. But really, this SHOULD HAVE been the season you throw a Cincinnati in there. Tired of seeing the same teams, help out these other teams/conferences and give them a chance. Remember when Boise St couldn't win?! Well, they've had 5 top 15 finishes since. A lot of of major conference teams can't claim that!!

I did take note that all the coaches that voted Ohio State 5th or lower, were from southern schools with the exception of Helton at Southern Cal and he is from Florida. Something about the Mason-Dixon line really bothers them.

Even the BIG10 leadership didn't thing tOSU was deserving of a BIG10 championship. They had to change the rules at the last minute to make it happen. So Dabo isn't the first to say they don't deserve to play for a title.
If the leadership didn't think OSU deserved a shot at the Big10 title, being the only undefeated team and beat the other leader head to head, they wouldn't have changed their arbitrary rule in the first place
@@bartold7080 It wasn't arbitrary. It was a benchmark used to protect the integrity of a simple CONFERENCE championship. They decided the integrity of their championship wasn't as rigid. It's one thing for a conference to do. It's entirely different to expect the whole country to bend it's standards for tOSU and the BIG.
Last year in week 8 there were 11 ranked teams that were 6-0. Should they have stopped playing and had a 12 team playoff right there? Wisconsin went 10-4 after starting 6-0. Should they have been in the playoff?
The BIG had just as much opportunity as the ACC, SEC, and B12 to play a whole season. They didn't and should be excluded from the CFP.
THIS YEAR OU just won SEVEN straight games, including a conference championship, beating 3 ranked teams. Why should they be punished for trying to play a whole season with reduced practice time to prepare? More consecutive wins and playing higher ranked opponents.
@@alexwhite9066 Considering the strict covid rules in the conference, the likelihood of cancelled games was much higher than other conferences, and with such a late start and no ability to make up games, it was an arbitrary rule. They would have changed it no matter who the team was in the same circumstance. Leaving out the clear best team and only undefeated team out of the conference title game the beat the next highest in the division would have hurt the integrity of championship this year.

In the end, NY6 revenue dropped because only one team got into a NY6 / playoff berth. It was financially detrimental. This was about preserving the integrity of the conference champ due to the unique circumstances of year, making sure the actual deserving team got in based on head to head results and OSU was the only undefeated team. OSU had essentially a 2 game lead on IU. It would have been wrong for OSU to not get in
Dabo answered this question earlier this week. He didn't consider a team for his top 10 unless they had played 9 games because he feels like games matter. He had OSU 11 because they were the best team that didn't play 9 games. People think that he was bashing OSU. He's always said they are good enough to be there. He just feels like no matter who the team is... you need to play at least a certain number of games to qualify.

I'm a 50 yr Michigan fan who is realistic enough to understand that Ohio St has as much talent as any team, even as much as Alabama, and Ohio St has a really good chance to win the championship. Ive seen Clemson play this year and they can be beaten by Ohio St.

Yep. And I'm a Buckeye fan. Now days it seems we get mad when someone has a different opinion. I love my Buckeyes and I have them 6th. They are good but not as good as last year and much less experienced. But if you give your opinion people want to cancel that and tell you you're wrong and make a big deal out of it.

Dabo called it like he saw it. Ohio played half a season and was given a pass into the top four because they're "Ohio"! UC and Coastal Carolina should have been in before Ohio. And Texas A&M played a real season with only one loss, but who'd A&M lose to? Bama. If the uppermost didn't want UC and Coastal Carolina to get a chance to show what they can do, then A&M would have been a more deserving pick than Ohio.
And don't get me wrong, Ohio always has a great program, BUT, they sat out half the season! If Alabama only played 3 games next year, would they be given a pass just because of their brand?... I'd hope not. Besides, Saban wouldn't settle for a gimme season.
This proves that money talks more than stats. The playoff slots need to be increased to include ALL conferences, each conference sends their best team and let the games begin!
