Todd is right. Fields is a one read quarterback which may be able to be coached out of him or may not be. That works in college but not the NFL. It’s the same reason why Mahomes fell to 10 or 11 or whatever because he admittedly couldn’t read a mic linebacker.

@@etcjr17 Fields CAN be good if he gets proper coaching. Fields need time and coaching just like Lamar and Mahommes got. People that argue that Fields is not a one read quarterback are people that don’t understand film or have never seen the dude play. People are so sensitive about this dude it’s crazy.
Edit: and Fields is still clearly a top QB and I would still take him 2nd overall because he IS super talented.. again he just needs more time and coaching.

Vs Northwestern Fields had a thumb injury he tried playing through and 22 members of the team were out due to Covid protocols including his wrs.
Wilson is talented but dude didn't play anywhere near the competition Fields did. Plus in 2019 he was no where as good.

18/30, 300 yards, 2 tds, 3ints, 78 rush yards, 1 TD, 5.2 yards per carry.
How many QBs would love for that to be a bad game for them. The fact that we accept that that is a bad game kind of proves the point that you expect him to be better. That expectation is because he is great. Justin Fields had 1 bad game and one less then perfect game. And even with the Northwestern game, and not enough games played to offset the NW game, he still has an elite passing grade on the season. The over reaction is silly.

Here’s the real kicker. Wilson is basically a 1 year wonder. Last year he had 11td’s to 9ints. I’m sure there’s plenty of flaws to be found in all that tape. Plus he’s been playing against cream puffs comparatively. Fields would throw for 50td’s against BYU’s schedule. But you don’t hear McShay mention anything about 11 & 9. But he wants to drop Fields for 2 bad games. NW & IU both had top 10 defenses in the nation (Only including power 5 schools no cream puffs). And the NW game he had an injured thumb on his throwing hand. Wanna know how that was obvious? Because he’s never had a game where he came close to completing that low of a percentage. Never. Clemson had a top rated defense too. How’d he do against them???

When you watch BYU play opponents. The game is very slow compared to upper level P5 & in the SEC. BYU just doesn't play NFL like teams to get a fair comparison. Playing vs the G5 is hard to grade especially when it comes to his presence in the pocket because he isn't facing the pass rush of teams like Ohio St, michigan, Georgia, Bama, Clemson, Florida, A&M, Texas, LSU, ect...

Ok this is a terrible take but there is reasoning behind it. Fields should go #4 to the falcons, but if he doesn't, I could completely see him falling to the Panthers or even further.
