That is just Dumb. They played 13 Games. 15 years ago that was the max amount of games. They beat 13 Power 5 Teams. 11 SEC Teams. This was best Accomplishment of any College Football team in history of College Football.

Not gonna lie, Alabama’s defense really looked pretty darn good like they usually do after the 1st quarter. Barmore looked just like you would expect a dominant defensive lineman from the classic 2009 Alabama years for example. Let’s go Bama
I’m an Ohio State fan and I don’t think there should have been an asterisk. We were taken to town, if we won it could definitely be argued that we needed an asterisk.

Apparently the players at Alabama did a very good job at obeying the covid protocols. There were not large numbers of player testing positive that would require them to sit out multiple games.

Alabama went undefeated in an all-SEC season. No give-me games against Mercer and The Citadel.
Alabama had a few assistants, players, and of course Saban himself test positive for COVID19. However, Bama was pretty much full strength for every game. Does that not attest to how great Saban is at adhering to the safety guidelines and having a plan for every possible scenario?

More than any other sport, injuries in 🏈 after 10 games have a serious impact on who is available and who isn't every season.

I would say Ohio state shouldn’t have been able to qualify for the national championship game with only 7 wins .... meanwhile Alabama had to win 12 times to get to the same game ... not fair play at all .... Ohio state had fresher legs and took less risk of injury playing almost half as many games and they still lost .... they didn’t deserve to be there. Just my two cents.

The OSU 6 game season had an asterisk. Then we beat their assterisk really bad.
Alabama was very strong and would have won regardless of the difficulties . * Ohio State, had they won ,because of being fresher due to fewer games played.
I think OSU needed a few more games to be more seamless in execution
Fresher doesn't always mean its better. They missed how many practices? Like 300 practices total this season. Add the missed games on top, no, the lack of play was more detrimental then had they played a full season.

Just curious, not counting Championship game....what was SEC combined record in bowl games?
7-2 I believe. Florida got beat but had 7 starters not play to go into the draft. Don't know the outcome if those 7 played but I assume a much better game.
ACC was 0-5 and yet 2 of them got into the playoffs.

Not every college team had a sufficient pre season. Having a different set of games presents an unfair advantage for certain teams that could not make the playoffs. The top four teams didn’t make the playoffs and certain players coaches and teams were unprepared for this season
Alabama looked the best, they played the best. They demolished every team they played! (even the Florida game didn't feel close). There isn't an asterisk
No there shouldn't be. A normal season probably wouldn't have been much different considering all the true natty contenders were still in the mix & mostly handled Covid well. If a fluke team won the title because teams like Bama, Ohio St, Clemson, ect couldn't complete because of Covid, then yes.

Trey Sermon, Ohio State Running Back was injured on the very first play by Alabama defense. 4 Alabama players jumped on him and injured his neck or shoulder. That injury did change the path of the game to Alabama's advantage since he was an important component of Buckeyes' Offense. Also, Buckeyes DEFENSE, specially Pass defense, played a poor game. They had a problem schematically, players, and coaching. Teams win national championships when they have a great defense, more often than not. Buckeyes' Defense played poorly in this game.

This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. There’s absolutely no reason to do this except blind contempt for Alabama. This Alabama team is one of the best to have ever played, or even the very best. All teams could have played if they wanted and if they weren’t weak and pathetic, they would have and Alabama had an amazing and full season. No justification whatsoever to try and erode the magnitude of this win.
They played and won more games than any team, same as always makes a champion. Had ohio state won maybe as they played many less games
I said the moment this came up with the NBA since they were the first to get going that this would be the most meaningful championship because of what they would go through. All the winners this year EARNED their title. With the possible exception of the World War years no teams have ever dealt with these sort of distractions. The fact that Alabama was able to not only win but do so breaking records is bordering unbelievable and I witnessed it with my own eyes.
Yes to say this was probably the greatest team in history and have accomplished more with more problems than ever before and were closer than any team known in recent history

An asterisk would be silly. They played an easier schedule than most teams in the past but that was not their fault.
There should be an asterisk because the Playoff Committee allowed two teams that should not have been there. ND by getting blown out by Clemson in the ACC Championship game (Should have been Texas A&M) and OSU SUCKEYES being in there as well. No matter who Alabama played, they would have won but please stop putting ND in the playoffs because of their name from pre 1940s.
OSU SUCKEYES by only playing 7 games shouldn't have been in the playoffs. Way too much of an advantage by being rested a full 5 games over most other teams.
Change the rules!! only a few teams in the last 12 years have even sniff at the title. No decade in modern college football history has one team dominated this much. The funny thing is no one is talking about it. When Nebraska, FSU, Miami and USC dominated in the 90's and 00's the rules where changed. Why isn't anyone talking about this subject?
Yes it should have an asterisk to say this was the hardest season ever. They accomplished winning in a all SEC schedule winning even with all the schedules being messed up each and every week. Being tested daily and keep themselves in a bubble so they would have a chance to play each week. Yeah this was the hardest year ever in college football
