This is more then just 4 or 5 years. I think Dak's team has calculated what the the upcoming inflation will be and is asking for money that takes that into consideration. I honestly think he is asking for a very large sum of money on an average per year basis. I think Dak is asking for more money than Mahomes or any other quarterback will be paid over the next 4 to 5 years. I think that is true since Dallas was able to offer him a new contract last year. Jerry is doing the math and Dak's ask just isn't adding up or close to adding up or this would be done by now. Jerry isn't going to let a few million dollars get in the way of getting a deal done. So, come on Dak step up and make the deal happen.

WORTH - what someone is willing to give you
TAG - you want to keep a player temporarily for less than he can demand on the open market (insurrance policy)
INFLATION - since we all love NFL they keep earning more and more and the cap goes up. That also increases QB prices as the most important single position
SCARCITY - consistently decent QBs are rare, so demand a premium to obtain/keep them. If they are young, have results and on upward trajectory they get what they want.
PICKS - potentially good players. You don't exchange proven good players for potentially great ones (if they are not considered generational talents)
