As a Celtics fan this “Super Team” has fatal flaws. 1) Joe Mazzula is a crappy inexperienced coach 2) Jayson Tatum lacks leadership qualities and is a consistent choker when it counts most 3) iso ball late in the 4th 4) disgusting drop coverage 5) everyone out of position under the hoop on offense making grabbing rebounds impossible 6) turnovers

The Celtics have also blown several leads this season. 11 vs 76ers, 18 vs Hornets, 12 vs Magic, 17 vs Warriors, 12 vs Nuggets, and 22 vs Cavaliers.

They had an embarrassing loss like this by 28 against the Nets last season. Mazzulla in the off-season said he was glad it happened because it was a great lesson. These type of losses happen once a decade. With Mazzulla it happened back to back in the 2 seasons he coached, while having the best roster since 2008.

Did you not watch the clip? The two plays when Tatum and Brown dribbled mindlessly for the possession before a Tatum turnover and for Brown a forced 3pt attempt
Those plays are so typical of the Celtics this whole season in the crunch

I think of all the games I have watched this year (NBA season pass for Celtics) there has only been once at the end of the game when the Celtics had less timeouts then their opponent.

They were missing their entire starting backcourt who both average 5 assists so they weren't getting the ball in places the normally would. As brown said they let their foot off the gas after being up so much. That is all.

Celtics had a 30 pt lead in the middle of the second qt. at halftime the lead was 18 in the beginning of the 3rd qt. lead goes down to 3 by the 4th its only a 6 pt lead, why are they expected to keep a 30 pt lead throughout the game like the Hawks gonna call it over in the 2nd smh... This is the NBA what the Celtics did in the first half the Hawks can easily do in the second no lead is ever safe in this league, now if the lead was 30 going in to the fourth I would be worried.
Refs definitely swallowed their whistle for when Boston was fouled and called ticky tac fouls on Boston but for what ever reason *“sports betting over/under” the same calls they made on Boston they would not make on Atlanta. Jalen Brown called for a soft barely contact foul, where Wesley Matthews was allowed to run up on moving screens bumping the player off their center and body blocking and chest bumping Tatum aggressively on the back down…. Refs did influence the game…

People not realizing hawks were down 3 starters vs Celtics 2 starters. The Celtics 2 starters isnt Boston top starters. The two out of the 3 starters for Atlanta are Hawks top starters. Celtics have the best starting lineup, a lot of games have all 5 starters in double digit points and score 120+/- points moving the ball and then come the end of a close game they are so predictable, Tatum dribble the ball, between his legs and all that for 15+ seconds and then huck up a bad shot. I find it hard to believe on their THIRD coach now not one has told them iso ball doesn't win. Brad Stevens, udoka and then mazzula and not one has drawn up an actual play? Its not just 1 game. The Finals against the Warriors was an embarrassment for them 2 years ago. They were the favorites to win the title that year and you got Jayson Tatum not showing up at all. The Celtics have more talent than anybody. You want to know why there is a overreaction because far less talented teams outworked them and beat them. Yes they can overwhelm teams if they get hot but when the game is tight and the opposition is really coming at them they faulter. They are one of the worst closing teams of all time for their talent level.

Celtics didn't have Derrick and Holiday their 2 starting point guards playing last night and had to rely on Pritchard as their starting point guard who is a back up point Guard from the 2nd unit and pritchard he is not yet at that level as Derrick is as starting point guard. A starting point guard is like a quarterback in football. So that kinda hurt the Celtics keeping the big lead they had by halftime with Derrick and Holiday not playing where they have been winning with Derrick as the Celtics main point guard before last night. JB and Tatum don't play and do what Derrick does as a point guard in games. Hopefully Derrick plays Thursday night Celtics need him this time against the Hawks.

As a Celtic fan, I am ok with the loss. However, I can't figure out how a coach could not call timeout in those situations, especially after that JT turnover. The momentum was obviously in Hawks favor and a simple play call to get a basket would have been better than Jaylen wasting the clock away. These are the reasons why teams lose in the playoffs and if Joe can't figure out that his two best players still lack that high level IQ down the stretch, than we have a problem.

A lot of yous don't get it we had no starting Point Guard last night. Derrick not playing last night our starting point guard and that's not good. He is like a quarterback in football. He is how we keep big leads in games and not blow big leads. JB and Tatum are not starting point guards in the game. So it would be hard to keep a big lead without our starting point Guard. Pritchard he is not at that level yet like Derrick is as a starting point guard. He is our back up point Guard from the 2nd unit. That's Why we mostly lost last night without Derrick not playing. Windhorst trying to brush aside this as “just an individual game” is kinda missing the point. If this was the first time this season it’s happened sure. But this has happened multiple times this season. Sometimes they’ve gotten away with it, sometimes last night happens. If anything these blown comfortable leads are a bit of a red flag.
It is 1 game when you got other teams that have blown lead a too and y’all never bring them up. Also the Celtics are the only team that’s already in the playoffs and clinched the first seed. But are let’s go off of 1 game and forget all the others 2 games

I just love how people are like “oh if they keep this habit up they’re not gonna win the chip” what habit is that exactly? Go on 9, 10, 11 game winning streaks, lose 1 maybe 2 games in between. If that’s the habit your talking about 9 games will bring them undefeated right to the ECF, maybe lose 1 or 2 there and then sweep the finals.
Winning streaks in the regular season are impressive, but a lot of the those wins are against subpar teams. And the way they lose this game and several other games show us that they still have some of the same problems in the past post-season when the game gets tight. Their record and personnel shows that they have improved but the way they lose this season is still alarming at the very least.
