Kirk is 1-3 in the playoffs as a starter. In those losses:
2015 with Washington: 29 of 46 for 329 yards, 63.0 completion%, 2 TD (1 passing and 1 rushing), 0 INTs, passer rating: 91.7…..Meanwhile…the defense let Green Bay end the game on a run of 17 unanswered points.
2019 with Coach Zimmer: 21 of 29 for 172 yards, 72.4 completion%, 1 TD, 1 INT, passer rating: 84.3.....Meanwhile….the 18th ranked defense struggled to stop the run and struggled badly in the secondary.
2022 with Coach O’Connell: Kirk: 31 of 39 for 273 yards, 79.5 completion%, 2 TD, 0 INT, passer rating: 112.9……Meanwhile….Donatell’s 31st ranked defense and awful scheme allowed 31 points and 431 yards to a Giants team that was far from explosive and made Daniel Jones look like an All Pro QB.

Because the rest of the team is different. Falcons are implementing the same offensive system that revitalised Stafford's career, they have an incredible defence, a top 5 oline, and great offensive weapons.
It's not that Kirk has become elite out of nowhere, it's all of those things on top of Kirk.

The next week vs the Packers: he threw 23 of 31 for 274 yards, 74.2 completion %, 2 TDs, 0 INTs and 122.2 passer rating.
He's been doing this for years. too. But the Kirk bashers only look at his win-loss record and their go-to is he’s “mediocre” and thinks that having a bad defense / bad o-line is an “excuse” for the lack of wins and playoff success. No other quarterback gets that same criticism.
