I agree they are playing better right now but at the end of the day the story that best appeals to the fan base will win and it looks to be Giannis or Luka. How is this even a debate. A player is arguably the best defensive player in the league and also arguably the best offensive player in the league. He was the MVP last season and still got significantly better. His team has one of the best records in the league and he has no superstar teammates.

People talk like the teams in the east never play teams in the west. Also, AD is apparently having a "not great" year, and he's averaging 29 9 and 3 on 49% shooting, 34% from 3, free throw 86% with a PER (a mainly offensive stat) higher than LeBron's while leading the league in blocks (2.7 per game) and overall one of the best defenders right now (top 3-5) and LeBron's the MVP? If LeBron had EXACTLY AD's stats(even without the defense), I swear some people would still call him the MVP. Giannis is the MVP right now and Luka's second. LeBron/AD/Harden 3rd.

Labron's assists are up because he's running point and has AD. His production is up in general because he has AD. Labron is winning because of AD. We know what Labron is without AD, see last years record and Labrons production. You're not an MVP when you are on a team with another top 10 player. Giannis is the sole superstar on the Bucks, coming off an MVP season and has improved on his game. There is no other player in the league you could switch with Giannis on the Bucks and have the same level of success as the Bucks had last season and are having this season. Labron shouldn't even be in the conversation. Arguements can be made for Harden but the knock is he is purely a scorer, he's not a top defender, and his play does not create opportunties or inspire elevated play from his teammates. Luka is young and although he is definitely having an MVP caliber season in terms of numbers and what he means to his team, the fact that he's young will tend to leave him overlooked in voting where many will presume he has a lot of years left to win MVP, and as good as he is, Giannis is better.
