Not to mention they might have one of the worst benches in the league, and no point guard whatsoever other than Neto who wont get minutes.They really had no choice but to start Simmons at point. Allen Mk13 some people can’t understand this. They truly believe that anyone who can pass is a pg as if passing isn’t a skill that is taught to everyone. Especially when there’s mad great passing bigmen like Duncan, Webber, wilt, Sabonas, divac, etc. and then there’s grant hill, bird, bron, kg, the problem is everyone thinks they are magic Johnson. But magic was a REAL true pg who just happened to have a growth spurt. Simmons was ALWAYS a foward before he got to the nba and was forced to play the PF because they had no other options. I don’t get why people don’t understand this. This positionless basketball narrative is killing peoples logic.

      @WinedandDined27 3 년 전 +1

      @@allenmk138 well yea, if that was bens only strength and was everything else jokic had your comment would make sense, but you're leaving a ton out. Simmons was the fastest player on the court with the ball in his hands for 2 years in a row if I remember correctly (according to stats). he defended 1's, 2s and 3s great, was elite at running the break, can beat guys off the dribble. he was getting LeBron comps for a reason early on. he had all the skills LeBron had minus the crazy vertical leap during their rookie years. LeBron played the 1 his rookie season too, for the exact same reasons. you want someone that fast, that good at dribbling and getting past guys who is that big and that ELITE at passing and reading plays to bring the ball up the court. its a mismatch nightmare and it's usually a good idea to have the best playmaker on the team bring the ball up. Look at what happened to Tyreke Evans in sac, they took him away from the 1 position, his natural position after his historic rookie year bc he was as big as a 3 but his game plummetted because of it and so did their team. Simmons just never developed his game much offensively, teams can stop his one glaring weakness and he can't adjust, so the coach is having to do it instead. if Simmons was a big, heavy, trodding slow 6'11 dude who can't defend, can't run, can only stand at the high key or 3 pt line and make plays and knockdown 3w, then sure, the jokic thing makes sense (big jokic fan here don't get me wrong). but their games and play style are about as opposite as u can get, literally. only the passing they have in common and are COMPLETE opposites otherwise. Simmons was an elite starting PG, now were gonna see how great he can hopefully (for his sake) be at the 4.

    Making him a PF is actually a good thing especially how the league has progressed through the years. Playing point guard without trying to shoot threes hurt their spacing so much. Now he has basically the same role as Giannis in the bucks. With all other 4 players on the court spacing the floor, milton, richardson, tobias and embiid. Putting Al off the bench will also strengthen the bench unit making them a better team than they used to in this season.
