I didn’t even know boxers can have that much of a weight disparity. In ufc u can’t weight above 265 max for heavyweight. What the rules weight wise for boxing?

Cant really put your arms around someone too big in UFC. No grappling in boxing kinda changes that. Once you get too big, it's a disadvantage, which is why theres not a limit (or if there is it's super big)

Ruiz had clothes on plus a sombrero. Without all that apparel he would have weighed nearly 10 lbs less. Even jeans weigh like 2-3 pounds. Ruiz is maybe 5-10 lbs heavier max. Teddy Atlas is pretty ignorant for such a knowledgable man, Roach who has trained Ruiz has said he fights much better when he's big. As you saw with the mitt work he didn't lose any speed. He will just be stronger if he doesn't have to unnecessarily lose weight. I know this because myself, although not a pro fighter, feel much better and stronger when I'm above a certain weight. Some people perform better when they're stronger.

I feel like Ruiz threw away the advantages he had over Joshua. To me Ruiz is the faster fighter and had more endurance as well. He fought 12 fast paced rounds against Parker but he was way leaner in that fight. He's always had heavy hands so I don't know the logic behind coming in at 283 unless he just didn't train well.

Fact is Ruiz has always been a fat chubby kid. It's natural for him to carry that weight . Look at the way he moves. AJ being muscle bound was unnatural to him so he suffers in the later rounds but not Ruiz who's engine can carry him over 12 rounds no problems.

Ruiz weighed in in June in his BVDs at 268. This time he's fully dressed-pants, shoes, shirt, sombrero, probably a dozen Krugerrands in his pockets as well-at 283; all in all, basically the same. A big mistake to think he's not in shape and ready; he is sharp, fast and fit. AJ is walking into a FIGHT. Somewhat disappointing that Teddy wouldn't observe the context here. Also, disappointing that all he talks about is psychological state. AJ still has to deal with the unaltered fact that Ruiz hits like a MoFo, is fast, puts on unrelenting pressure and has an iron chin; none of which he can claim himself. On pure skills, AJ is on his back foot in this fight and hard to see how he can overcome the ghost of June just by wishful thinking. Ruiz has a TON of incentive here that AJ does not. I think you're simply wrong, Teddy. MHO.
