It’s so much bigger that. The reason he took the 5 year instead of the 3 was to supplement income from a mistake he made earlier in his career. The biggest mistake in Melo’s career was signing and endorsement deal with Team Jordan. The pay cut Bron and Wade took to play with each other was possible because they had huge deals with Nike and Converse respectfully to cover that shortfall. Melo not having a shoe as popular as those two caused him to be more reliant on his player income.

I don't think so... I feel like it would be similar to Westbrook, George, and Melo 2 years ago - each guy is trying to create an offense on their own leaving the other two on an island. That's why Bosh worked so well in Miami - he did dirty work (i.e. setting screens and offensive rebounds) but could also play off-ball and nail threes.

LOL no they wouldn’t.If you watched the Heat over the years Bosh was the difference maker in close series. The Heat saw how much he meant when they nearly lost to the Pacers and would’ve lost to the Celtics in 2012 had Bosh not returned from his mid-section injury to stop them Rondo to KG lobs as the Heat were wayyy to small. And Bosh hit the closing three in game 7 over KG. Chris Bosh would’ve been a top 7-15 player in todays NBA had he not had the blood clot. In 2015-2016 the Heat lost to the Raptors sans Bosh and Whiteside, they would’ve won that series with a healthy Bosh and I’d say have a 35-45% chance to beat the Cavs in the ECF. Dragic Wade Deng Bosh and Whiteside gave Bron and the Cavs issues that season. Bron is diffrent tho so i’d give the Cavs the edge solely because of the King.
Dats a paddlin but to REPLACE bosh with Melo would prob be less successful. The chemistry and balance among roles was already difficult as it is bc wade and bron were so ball dominant. Luckily they are both so extremely versatile (especially wade OFF THE BALL) that they figured it out. I don’t think Melo has that versatility. In his prime he was too much of a ball stopper to sufficiently replace the cohesion. Remember after the 2011 finals the heat started finishing like top 2 or 3 is team assists per game every season thereafter. The finals with the spurs showcased two of the most selfless basketball teams I’ve ever seen in my life (Pre-KD Golden state also comes to mind). I don’t think Carmelo makes that team better than Bosh.
