      Indeed, The Irish suffered for quite a bit looking for top players in such masse they could build a class team. It’s now Wales’ turn to go through that. Something they haven’t had to deal with for two decades.

      I HEAR U!!! I think this is a genius & exciting move by Veach!!! U know he's bin scouting & looking at him & his tape 4 probably a few yrs but kept it quiet!!! I keep saying I hope he's in the tight end room & is mentored & taught by Travis the greatest receiving tight end of ALL time!!! Trav could teach him how to run routes in the slot esp, & how 2 get open!!! If he starts now, he could potentially b ready 2b Trav's replacement whn the time comes & he retires!!! The bottom line it takes reps & exper 4 his play & 4 his rel'ship w/ Pat 2 grow!!! Its ALSO why its SO brilliant 2 start him now, at 23!!! He's young, talented, fast, a beast & a great professional athlete all around!!! He's obviously driven & wants 2 play in the NFL & has bin already training!!! Andy more than any oth Offensive Coach knows how 2 develop, & use tight ends & bring out the best in them!!! Even Trav hving played tight end in College has said, whn he got 2 KC Andy Reid developed that position 2 suit particularly him & 2 bring out the best in Trav' productivity!!! I think like how Spags can & does use the defense players 2 play diff defense positions in a game, I can c him also being used as a long field wide receiver, & another great running back 2 plough thru guys!!! He's also used 2 playing the whole game like soccer players, compared 2 football players, who rotate!!! BUT Rugby is a rough, hard game & man, u hve 2b tough!!! I hope we c him soon catching throws & spending time w/ Pat!!! Rishee Rice wz actually mentored by Trav last season. As we know Pat has bin working w/ Rice already in Texas, & obviously during the season whn they had 2 stop & work on the fundamentals, throwing & catching the ball!!! Pat ALSO he's invested, not just driven in his own performance BUT is a great leader & teacher as well!!! He cldn't be playing & entering into a better franchise than the Chiefs & the overall team, from all the coaches 2 Pat & Travis 2 set him up 4 success!!!! Ironically I've heard fans of Rugby in Europe who watch Travis say on their YT channels that on some plays, Travis looks like a Rugby player!!!

    I'm routing for him and I suspect he's going to the practice squad. But WR? Gotta learn that route tree and know you're going to get hits from 360 degrees. But the new kick-off rules will suit him perfectly. The issue for Rugby players transferring to American Football is still the playbook.

    • @tammyboon6259
      @tammyboon6259 개월 전

      YEA, but he's surrounded by the greatest to teach him!!! I keep saying that Travis would be the BEST imho, 2 mentor him & teach him how 2 run routes & how get open!!! (The BEST at his position, ever when it comes 2 receiving!!!) Andy mentioned that in part what makes Spags a great defensive coordinator is how he teaches & is able 2 break down plays 4 the defensive players!!! I think also b/t Andy being a genius offensive coach, creative & innovative at making plays, I'm sure him & Nagy will be great at also breaking down plays 4 him!! He also has Pat the greatest QB 2 learn from!!! And it took Pat still a few yrs 2 learn football!!! That's why a lot of pundits think that Pat is just ONLY entering in2 his prime!!! (He still knew baseball the most whn he entered the NFL. We know he also played Basketball in High School. I think in College they let Pat play both Football & baseball?!?! I know he didn't start his 1st yr in College & he wz ok w/ that. His dad wzn't & it's why his dad wanted him 2 just go & try out 4 professional baseball, but Pat chose football 2 stay & ultimately pursue. But he also didn't go 2 College his last yr & announced in a Press Conference that he wz trying out for NFL!!! So, more than any oth player, he's going 2b understanding & want 2 help lead & teach him, whn football wz the game he knew the least!!! & Dan from ESPN said 2 Rich Eisen "I think the best thing Patrick's parents ever did 4 him wz NOT 2 put him in2 a proper QB school! It never took the SPECIAL out of him!!!" Pat himself also has said, that he thinks Coach Reid wz the best coach for him, b/c he didn't try to make Pat like a regular QB!!! I'm sure this guy as a Rugby player, there's going 2b sumthing special abt him that he'll bring that u can't teach & then teach him the fundamentals of football etc!! Travis has said that Coach Reid also adapted & developed the Tight End position that best suited him & 2 bring out the best in him to play at a diff level than he did in College!!! I've heard fans of Rugby in Europe on YT channels say that Travis reminds them of a Rugby player!!! And then there's the Veach. U know he's probably been looking at this guy for a few years & keeping it quiet!!!

    as a welsh guy who played rugby for wales at an international youth level and always loved the nfl this guy has potential to be one of them players you look at and say he changed the game. to me i’ve always not understood why nfl hasn’t used laterals more it’s such an easy thing to do to pass how rugby players do and it would give defenses a nightmare. i think he’d have to have a year as a practice squad member to learn the game but if he can nail that down he will be game changing. it would make the sport more global would have other people looking into it because rugby doesn’t pay like other sports. he’s played for the british and irish lions which is the biggest accomplishment you can get in rugby you have to be the elite of the elite. if he can learn the game he could be someone you look at in a few years who changed the game

    • @tammyboon6259
      @tammyboon6259 개월 전 +1

      Well, that's also why I think the Chiefs is the best team 4 him!!! Its the BEST franchise!!! They have the best Coaching staff all around & obviously the best QB in the NFL!!! Andy Reid is the best Head Coach but he wz also the best Tight End coach, b4 he became a Head Coach in the NFL!!! And b/t his coaching & learning from Travis', they could be pretty AMAZING & ELECTRIC to watch together!!! I know that during the SB, the most dangerous offensive player on the 49ers wz Christian McCaffrey!!! I got nervous everytime he got the ball!!! And whn Jennings thru the ball across the field to CM to score a TD, that wz a crazy play!!! I wzn't surprised 2c that he won the the best offensive player of the yr award in the NFL!!! Brock Purdy wzn't their MVP, it wz Christian McCaffrey!!!

    It’s not for a lack of physicality or speed etc, that makes it difficult for people outside the us to get into Football, it’s not being brought up playing it. The other big plus for Louis, coming from Rugby, will be his stamina. There is only one team in rugby. No attack team, defence team or special team. The players are on the pitch for 80 minutes, plus there is not so much start stop as there is with the NFL. He knows how to catch high kicks when under pressure, having also played full back as well as his normal position of wing. He's been an NFL fan since he was a kid because his father used to play the sport. He'll be familiar the rules and with a lot of the terminology, so won't be starting from scratch. As a rugby player his bread and butter is also making and receiving lateral passes. This guy can probably spin pass a ball for 25 yards whilst running pretty much full tilt. That opens up a huge range of possible trick plays for Andy Reid. However, my concern is the tackling is totally different in the NFL. In rugby, "no arm tackles" are illegal. A player must make an effort to wrap their arms when tackling; even when tackling from the front or side. The way the NFL players tackle a lot of the time, is by launching themselves low, full tilt at a players knees with their padded shoulders; hence why you often see players trying to hurdle over tacklers; and why so many NFL players have ACL injuries. His biggest assets are his blistering pace and his elusive running. If he has a bad ACL injury, it could mean the end for his NFL dream and the possibility of returning to rugby any time in the future. I'm Welsh and have been following the NFL since it was first shown on UK TV in the early 1980's. I'm gutted that Wales have lost our most exciting and creative player, but at the same time time excited that I might see him playing in the NFL.

    Huge difference between 40 yard dash and top speed. A guy can have an insane 40 but a relatively average top speed and visa versa. That being said, i would expect his top speed to be 2-3 mph slower in full pads and the 40 time which was actually 4.43 is pretty average for a WR/RB is indicative that his acceleration is average for a NFL WR.

    Biggest difference between Rugby Union players vs NFL players is NFL players are more specialists in their role, rugby players are trained for more all around skills. NFL player only plays half the game, rugby guys play both offense and defense and do not stop and reset after every play. It’s a much more fluid and continuous 80 mins of playing time.

    NFL teams should poach the top Rugby guys who play in the scrum, it's basically the trenches, those guys should be able to make the transition into NFL a lot easier
    If you're 6-7 and built like a tank and play in the scrum, that should be an easy move

    Here's why black basketball players & black track stars make it in the NFL: they have NFL speed and athleticism and the high-speed collisions that NFL running backs experience all of the time don't occur as frequently between defensive backs and wide receivers. Yeah, there are headhunters in the defensive backfields and there are line-backers who can put the muscle on a wide receiver, but the hits fullbacks and halfbacks take in the NFL are like being in a high-speed auto accident. I saw Darryl Stingley get hurt & I saw Jack Tatum play so wide receiver in the NFL is a full-contact sport carried out at Olympian speeds, but it's also only for skilled players who have super co-ordination and D1 track star speed. He'll be OK if he stays away from the kill zone between left offensive tackle and right offensive tackle.
