Dak is going to regret not signing this contract next year when he's without a team. He'll end up being a backup for someone.

Dak Prescott will make $31.4 Million in 2020, which is the 8th highest in the NFL. This is quadruple what he made in his first 4 seasons.

Bottom line is, Jerry Jones doesn't trust Dak in the 4th quarter if they fall behind. Dak doesn't have that "SAVIOR/MAMBA" mentality like the great ones do. Mahomes, without a doubt, deserves that contract and has shown he can deliver under pressure many times. IMO, Dak is similar to Cousins. Both are Average at best and can easily be replaced.

Dak decided to sign the tag when he could've signed the fair market deal Jerry offered him but since he didn't he is in a situation where he will be putting pressure on himself. At some stage, NFL franchises will realise that you need a TEAM to win rings and some sense will be applied to QB contracts. You can see that the Chiefs and Mahommes have recognised this and structured the QB contract to allow for it. A QB that believes they can and will be a winner will take a smaller contract KNOWING that rings and SB appearances will bring more from endorsement and post-football careers than adding 5-10M per year to a 3-5 year deal. The QBs that get really insistent do so because they KNOW they have to make that money NOW.
