Patriots play nobody. Rivers is having one bad year. I guarantee you Tom Brady is not why the Patriots are so good. He's a very good quarterback -- one of the best of all time -- but the Patriots don't need him in order to be great. They went 11-4 with Matt fucking Cassel and 4-0 in Jimmy G's first four career games. Brady is NOT THE REASON they are great. He may be the reason they're *consistently* great year after year, but not why they're great in general.

Watching Tom Brady this season, I don’t see any drop off in the actual ability to play football, his arm doesn’t look bad or weaker, his pocket awareness and skill set is still very much there, when Peyton played his last season he couldn’t even throw a tight spiral, it’s clearly what he’s surrounded by. Why did they get rid of josh gordan?
He had been injured twice this year and needed to pick up a WR to play in the next game. So they placed him on IR to go get Sanu. But once Gordon was healthy, they didn’t have a roster spot for him so they had to release him. I still think the Pats should have just waited those two weeks, potentially take an L or 2, and integrate him back into the offense. Maybe they saw something to where he wasn’t as quick in press coverage and wasn’t as good of a blocker on Run plays. Still shocked by it.
He was on IR with a knee injury and questionable work-ethic (late to meetings, etc). They also have first-round pick N'keal Harry who has same skillset as Gordan.
