Why is the thumbnail labeled "Ohtani's Gambling Scandal" when it's his translator that did the gambling....
lol
Reporters 🐀🐁
well technically, it does involve Ohtani :D
ohtanis name was was on the cheques...
They need it for Click and view
Every single word that BSPN has printed about this "scandal" is based on what they were told by Ippei Mizuhara.
In other words, without even contacting Ohtani for confirmation, they ran with a story based on the word of a KNOWN LIAR who is being investigated by the IRS and FBI!
SHAME ON YOU BSPN!
ESPN should apologize to Ohtani.
Hey ESPN, Shohei's innocent! His interpreter had/has the gambling problem!!! Leave Shohei alone!!!!
Good one
Hey look a Dodger fan!
I didn't realise you had 100% of the facts. Instead of just hoping he's not a raging gambler.
Then arrest the translator...you cant because he will admit Ohtani paid him.
It's up to the Fed's investigation. It's not up for you to say. ESPN is just presenting what they know.
“Ippei’s gambling scandal”
It seems that there was a fund for Ohtani's charity activities, which he entrusted to Ippei. In a sense, it's not a personal fund but a separate fund specifically for charitable purposes. If that's the case, it makes sense to entrust it to him. In Ohtani's busy schedule, Mr. Ippei serves as a substitute and manages the account, using it for sending donations to disaster-stricken areas and purchasing gloves for young baseball players, among other things.we will find out everything soon
Ippei is a thief
Cmon bruh your gonna leave an interpreter in charge of that kinda funds and responsibility no way
In terms of position, he's more like a secretary.
No he doesn’t stand alone. Everyone is looking out for Ohtani. Trevor Bauer is the only player standing alone on the outside looking in.
And Bauer was actually innocent Ohtani is not
ESPN. Please bring back Baseball Tonight.
it was trash
Baseball’s dead
Ican't believe there are people who say he gambled.
Ohtani never gambles he has criticized gambling
He turned down his teammate's invitation to the casino. He was saying.,Why do you gamble?Gambling is bad.
Ohtani: “I bet you 1 million that you are not going to convince me to bet.”
only a problem gambler would know the true dangers of gambling
Yes, cause people would NEVER lie about what they actually do in private.
Yeah... I criticize gambling as well... (sir no phones at the table)
Here we go.
Where is the Bookmaker interview under oath?
Let's see what the bank says about this. Because a bank that allows 4.5 million to be stolen from a client would be a very bad bank. Let's see if they also defend the version of the robbery.
They just found two separate bets on Penn State games equalling 4.5 mill that happened months before the money was supposedly stolen ..ohtani is the next Pete rose
I know he is busy on 2-way practice, but now is the time to learn more English😅
I speak Spanish as well as English with the other players.
He often has an interpreter at official press conferences.
Did Ohtani ever meet personally the Bookmaker? Where? Why?
We wonder if threats were made by the Bookmaker.
Pat’s colleagues doing the initial fact gathering got duped, most likely. They should likely have vetted all incoming statements more closely, knowing that it’s possible the source was tainted
Ippei better have my money, pay me what you owe me, don't act like you forgot.
Ippei better have my money. _Rihanna_
Otani is already richer than you can imagine. He has been featured in commercials for many of Japan's largest companies. You can see it when you come to Japan and watch Japanese TV.
Book Maker knew that Ippei Mizuhara was the best friend of Shohei Otani.
Ippei Mizuhara was not only Otani's interpreter, but also his only manager, and was apparently responsible for transferring expenses and other important tasks during Otani's hospitalization.
ブックメーカーは、水原一平が大谷翔平の親友と知っていた。
水原一平は、通訳だけではなく、大谷さんのただ一人のマネージャーとして、経費の振り込み等、その他の重要な仕事を大谷の入院中にも担っていたとか。
Obtain can get back the 16 million from just suing espn for defamation easily with a profit 😂
He would have hit 70 hrs in Chicago
Reminder that the Trashtros won a piece of metal
And your team didn't.
This is the answer. Power of Attorney(POA) or check writing privileges. Ohtani is completely innocent。
DANIEL KIM said When I worked as an interpreter, I had to assist the players on just about every aspect of their daily lives. These include: opening bank accounts, taking them to DMV to get licenses, and setting up utilities. I also carried their check books on the road for clubhouse dues.
Assistant stolen money from their rich boss is more common than you think. And Ippei is like that to shohei, he's not only interpreter. He handling his buseveryday.
You do not know Shohei. No one who posts here does. Stop assuming he's guilty or innocent before everything comes out. And no, him saying he didn't know doesn't count as proof.
@@baconatorrodriguez4651 The Japanese bank concerned confirmed Shohei's story . . . . FOUR DAYS AGO.
This was all over the Japaneese news and has been confirmed repeatedly by the financial institutions involved.
So tell me . . . why is ESPN still pretending that there are questions and uncertainties?
CLICKBAIT, folks. Thats all it is.
That's what a manager , agent , publicist etc are paid for not an interpreter lmao there's no way the Angels said come to America and bring an interpreter so he can be your manager , banker , driver , chef , publicist etc lmfao that's dumb as fooook my guy
He's the next Pete rose lifetime ban coming back to Japan for him

Are you a Yankees fan?
Ippei took the fall
Anyone with any highly substantial amount of money in their bank account that suddenly has enormous amounts of money being wired out of the account, the banks are going to notify that person of suspicious withdrawals of such high amounts of money. Ohtani had to know about the wires that were being transferred to an illegal bookmaker. He had to authorize them and the bank would have definitely been in touch with him and also with that kind of money, Ohtani is not a stupid person, I am sure that Ohtani has financial advisors and legal advisors watching over his money. Especially $700 million!!
Otani is in no way a victim of a crime.
Have you ever heard of a singer or actor who is unaware of a manager's embezzlement?
Do black card holders receive a call from their bank every time they make a large payment?
Ohtani does not have a gambling scandal until somebody can provide irrefutable evidence.
the wire transfers were made from his bank account no?
@@varunaX That's not evidence of him gambling lol its very viable he was robbed by his friend or gave him the money to bail him out. Until I see bet slips, texts or audio of Ohtani saying say i want x, y, z on the Angels during games he played I'm not taking shots at him
@@kurtrogers9658 that is the evidence of him gambling, irrefutable evidence needed to prove otherwise..got it backwards
@@xavierb9061 1) where's the bet slip (im sure it exists) 2) I need some tie to Ohtani being like " I want the under on 6.5 runs, Me under 5k's and _______ team v angels ML" to think Ohtani did anything wrong. If he's just a OD gambler who cares.... we aren't taking Ridley to this much task for being a gambler. 9 Wire transfers to a bookie Could be one a few things; i don't think its a stretch to ask more questions about this before slamming Ohtani
@@kurtrogers9658 right now he paid off bookie..right now. Future can try prove not him, but right now his account.
Interpreter ippei took one for Ohtani. He saved his best friend career.
😢😢😢
Not over yet they found Penn State games that were being bet on for 4.5 mill the exact amount that was "stolen" air quotes ..so he's not out of woods yet
Have you ever heard of a singer or actor who is unaware of a manager's embezzlement?
I’m glad many people commenting here have some sense. Ohtani is innocent and sadly betrayed by the closest individual.
Nope
@@smokedosia1723 go away hater
@@Shakazulu6.1 he's the next Pete rose
@@smokedosia1723 thats what you wish because you are a lunatic
@@smokedosia1723 you are a confused individual.
Ohtani was squeaky clean before this but now a lot of stuff will come out about him. He’s not innocent at all
Tiger Woods-level downfall incoming
This sucks. Miss Ippei. Might be a crappy gambler...Thought he was an exceptional interpreter.
If he had stolen money from Ohtani, that is the biggest betrayal as a friend. He caused others to drag Ohtani's name down. As far as being an intepreter, I couldn't tell how accurate he was in translation. All I know is that he mumbles his words.
I'm not buying it the interpreter 100% TOOK THE FALL
He paid the interpreters debt, Ohtani is responsible for any wire related transfers, if he violated any transfer laws or policies. The focus on him doing the betting is stupid and bait for idiots.
Boo hoo 😢
Nice of his best friend to take the fall for him.
The real story here. @1:50 ESPN knowingly made MIZUHARA represented Ohtani's opinion. Key of the story is ESPN let OHTANI a bad guy. And all of hater of many kinds are keep buying this story no matter what Ohtani said. OHTANI is a victim in this case and nothing else. He does not awe anybody anything.
Oh. I don't didn't realise ESPN told Ippei what to say during his interview lol
@@baconatorrodriguez4651 ESPN ran with a story based on what Ippei told them. They didnt even ask Ohtani for comment before they printed it.
As it turns out, it has been confirmed ... REPEATEDLY ... that Ippei Mizuhara had Power of Attorney over an account with 10 million dollars in it -- a charity account which Ohtani hardly ever paid attention to.
The Japanese media has been reporting this FOR FOUR SOLID DAYS!
The Japanese media actually took the time to contact the (Japanese) banks and confirmed that Shohei had signed over Power of Attorney to Ippei. This is OLD NEWS and yet you want to continue pretending not to believe it. If the Japanese press can confirm the banking information (and who controlled the account) by contacting the bank, then there are only a limited number of reasons why US sources are not reporting the same information.
NONE of those reasons are particularly flattering to the US media (Im looking at YOU BSPN)
@@baconatorrodriguez4651So your close friend said you are responsible for stealing $ in Japan and media can run with the story he said to them. While you have no idea what has been told, you got fired from the job because of it. And reporter is asking you need to explain why the story changed? That is equivalent to what is going on.
@@befairmonk5988 lol, ok, if you say so. Have a solemn, blessed Ramadan.
cover-up story, no bookie is giving Ippei a 4 million dollar tab. Let's be real Ohtani was the one betting and who cares as long as it wasn't on baseball.
yes this is a good point.
Thought so at first but looks possible be ause booker wws scamming
You don't think it's plausible that a bookie would give a tab to someone who was practically joined at the hip to baseball's arguably biggest star? It's been reported before that Ippei was not just a "translator" but almost like family. It's not outside the realm of possibility that he was given unprecedented access to even his bank accounts if he was trusted that much or Ippei was that manipulative.
@@ChonWang247 Ohtani admitted to wiring the money then changed his story once he realized he put himself in a bad position. Baseball is protecting its biggest star.
Ohtani is the most over-rated, over-paid MLB player in history! Expect the media and any investigations to whitewash this whole affair. I hope he apologizes to Pete Rose on his way back to Japan!
He is not overrated. I have stopped watching baseball for over 10 years. He brought me back to baseball. Go MLB!
lol jealousy alert
Ohtani not white nor black enough for this dude.
@@tonyswe9463He hasn’t brought baseball back. The sport is dying for the reason MLB would rather cater to the A$ian markets than focus in the US
The US Baseball market is dead. Too many ignorants.
